Thread: Pearl's and Crystals Fix Sugestion
As a 'new' Jedi (hologround, unlocked after CU) and being almost half template, when I get in trouble I reach for the ol' Krayt sliced pistol.. even though I've dropped all of pistol down to dropping Novice Marksman.
Tuned 40+ 'good' crystals.. and my best is -8fc 66dmg

If in regualr professions you are lvl 54 you need a lvl 54 qualifying gun to use.
Why not base this in the same way. The more force you have = the most training you have receved = the more knowledge of the force you have= the better chance of you tuneing better pearls or crystals .

DO IT SOE ! NOW !
If by some miracle a dev reads this please note the following:
1.) Please don't make the overall effectiveness of the weapon dependent on something that doesn't exist in the game or something that we have a .01% chance of looting from a creature that spawns once/week in the same spot. Crafting enhancements such as crystals/pearls should only make a 10% difference in the outcome of the weapon (not 90%).
2.) Please don't make the system completely random and unknown. Right now nobody has any idea of how to craft a saber. There are rumors and secret techniques galore. I'm not saying that it needs to be simplistic I'm just saying that we should have access to the actual workings of the system.
3.) Please don't nerf existing sabers. My saber is 199 DPS and the last thing I want to see is someone else nerfed. Please just fix sabers moving forward.
4.) Please make MLS what it should be. The Lightsaber should be the deadliest weapon in any Star Wars game and a Master of said weapon should be the most effective single combat profession period. This is Star Wars as in Sith and Jedi and Imperials and Rebels not Everquest with trolls and fairies.
Thanks in advance.
Great Idea!!! But I would make it based off of jedi skill points used.
I wonder why people are so scared of jedi being more powerful? As it stands I am MLS / Enh 22x2 / Def 3x4x / Healer 2xxx (shooting for MLS / Enh 34x2 / Def 4x4x / Healer 4xxx). My saber is only 502 damage (346dps). I dueled a couple people and couldnt put a dent in them. They would just keep healing away their damage and if I got hit then would get hurt so badly that I would need to heal 2 times just to make up for it. I was fighting a Doc/Swordsman/TK with a 1200+ damage powerhammer. The other guy had a trando rifle that did 1300+ damage! So basically my LS does less than half of their weapons. I have no chance of getting any where near that damage either. That's just totally dumb.
Let's face it. There is no possible way for me to get 80 mil credits to get 1 flawless pearl. If I did get it then I would need 100+ of them to get my 4 perfect tunes. Are there even 100+ untuned flawless pearls available on tarqunous anymore? I'd bet not.

double masters should get better tunes as they have spent the time grinding out the extra 6 mil or so XP and have the higher force pool. You should not have the best tunes if you are not MLS. How can you claim to be evenly matched saber per saber if you are a LS Dabbler and you are up against a MLS?
Pearls should not be readily available. Granted, the enhanced power cells are allowing double capped rifles all over the place, but the lightsaber should be hard to make.
And since day 1, Jedi are suppose to be elite among the elite. Hard as hell and very tough. Makes no sense our NPC counterparts are lvl 200+ with 30k HAM with double chevrons. We should be the same. If you don't like it, then don't go hunting jedi. I am sick and tired of non-jedi crying nerf cause the only content they want is to piss off noob jedi grinding or they cannot kill the other jedi they attack who are done.

I don't think it should be based on the amount of force at all. I think LS tuning should be included under LS crafting. I don't believe that someone that is not MLS should be as good as a MLS at crafting a saber and tuning the components for that saber (crystals and pearls). Someone that is a MLS should have the advantage of creating a significantly better saber than somone with only 2 branches in the LS tree.
I would like to see them take the experimentation lines from LS crafting (efficiency, damage, speed). They could then maybe start the crystals off at different levels, so that an MLS with +10 experimentation points might be able to get a fair crystal to 80 dmg, -5 fc, good crystal to +100dmg, -7 fc and in order to get a 120/-9fc, you'd have to either be a 12 pt MLS or use a minimum of a premium crystal/pearl. Meanwhile, dabblers (only xxx4 LS) would still have 7 experimentation points (9 if they use a LS suit), so would still be able to get get the 120/-9 if they use a LS crafting suit AND get higher quality crystals/pearls, whereas a MLS would only need one or the other to craft the same saber (either premium crystals/pearls or a 12 pt LS crafting suit).
Your idea is better. No way a master powers healer enhancer should be able to tune pearls as well as a master of the lightsaber.
Sprinkle "saber tuning" mods throughout the entire saber tree, not just in the xxx4 tree. 5 points each box all the way up, then +20at master (makes master worth it) for a cool +100 to saber tuning. This will NOT make you get ALL aswesome tunes, just a far greater chance at it.
Excellent ideas though.

Ah, I thought all the skill mods, extra specials, ranged k/d........isn't that what makes a MLS. LS Dabbler has less skills, slower, less accurate and yet you still want them to have a weaker weapon as well?
Why not just say MLS is necessary if you want to be Jedi? Then it can be like it was pre-CURB except now the profession is gimped and still forced into certain templates.

You are missing the point
Other people are at a disadvantage because they are not MLS, of course they are. Why should a Jedi that is only 4004 LS have a better/same saber than me at MLS? Leaving tuning out for a second, think of it as CL certified weapons. They are not yet ready to tune crystals to the same stats as I am, like a journeyman plumber cannot plum as good as a guy doing it for 30 years and has a degree in it.
It has NOTHING to do with Master powers and that they use the force to tune. What the hell do they need pearls for? they are force users not saber users. If they are MLS Mpowers, well then they are MLS and can make better sabers.
It should not be based on things common to all Jedi (force pool) because not all Jedi need it, not all Jedi are saber users, not all Jedi are saber crafting masters.
But to make it more fair, put the tuning chance mod int he tech tree. 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 = 80. +20 at master. Would be just like experimentation. Only makes sense, you are more experienced with tuning pearls.

Yah, I will hop this band wagon - pearls to be CL specific, but i think that tunes should have a little bit of a range in a tune to add the "luck" factor....
Before you hop on that particular bandwagon about CL, that isn't what is being suggested.
OK guys, just got home from work and i Love the responce so far and all the input, now to answer as many questions as i can besides the many that Jaila has helped with.
1.Should a Pearl and a Crystal Differ, Yes they should imo. A pearl Should Have overall better stats then a Crystal as in Most any SW Game out there, As of what kind of diffrence that is the Input we are looking for in this post. Speed/damage/Fc rember there is alot of stats that can differ from one another.
