You should not have the best tunes if you are not MLS. How can you claim to be evenly matched saber per saber if you are a LS Dabbler and you are up against a MLS?

Ah, I thought all the skill mods, extra specials, ranged k/d........isn't that what makes a MLS. LS Dabbler has less skills, slower, less accurate and yet you still want them to have a weaker weapon as well?

Why not just say MLS is necessary if you want to be Jedi? Then it can be like it was pre-CURB except now the profession is gimped and still forced into certain templates.

Ha. Those "dabblers" in the saber profession do so because they want to have FR2, channel, meditate, cloak, Aura, stasis, etc.... Most MLS cannot have all those options. If you are a MLS chances are you have Mdef 40xx healer (giving up enhancer), or you have Menh 40xx healer (giving up defender).

We give up those skills to be more profficient with a lightsaber.

They give up MLS to be more proficient in other areas.

That is the trade-off.

No way a LS dabbler should be able to have a saber as good as mine, yet he can FR2(3), defend, cloak, etc. when i cannot.

Then why can a non-Rifleman wield the most powerful Rifle in the game? Same goes for a gun?

This is the nature of the beast in this new combat system. Level 54 means you should have access to the best weapons the profession has to offer. Just because I don't have a single point spent in Pistols doesn't mean I can't weild the top end gun that a Master Pistoleer would use. Same goes for the Sabers, why should their damage be superior, easy it shouldn't. It's the specials that make the professions here in the CURB. That's how it's for Jedi as well as the rest of the combat professions.

If anything MLS should be asking for stronger specials in the Master Box. Perhaps an accuracy buff a better Power hit, heck maybe an AB reducing special, lots of things you can give the Master box. But sorry, the weapon itself is not subject to being weaker just because you don't have specfic skills....that's how it's for non-Jedi and that's how it's going to be for Jedi.

I don't think it should be based on the amount of force at all. I think LS tuning should be included under LS crafting. I don't believe that someone that is not MLS should be as good as a MLS at crafting a saber and tuning the components for that saber (crystals and pearls). Someone that is a MLS should have the advantage of creating a significantly better saber than somone with only 2 branches in the LS tree.

I would like to see them take the experimentation lines from LS crafting (efficiency, damage, speed). They could then maybe start the crystals off at different levels, so that an MLS with +10 experimentation points might be able to get a fair crystal to 80 dmg, -5 fc, good crystal to +100dmg, -7 fc and in order to get a 120/-9fc, you'd have to either be a 12 pt MLS or use a minimum of a premium crystal/pearl. Meanwhile, dabblers (only xxx4 LS) would still have 7 experimentation points (9 if they use a LS suit), so would still be able to get get the 120/-9 if they use a LS crafting suit AND get higher quality crystals/pearls, whereas a MLS would only need one or the other to craft the same saber (either premium crystals/pearls or a 12 pt LS crafting suit).

Your idea is better. No way a master powers healer enhancer should be able to tune pearls as well as a master of the lightsaber.

Sprinkle "saber tuning" mods throughout the entire saber tree, not just in the xxx4 tree. 5 points each box all the way up, then +20at master (makes master worth it) for a cool +100 to saber tuning. This will NOT make you get ALL aswesome tunes, just a far greater chance at it.

Excellent ideas though.

Question: is "tuning" crystals and pearls related to the Force at all? Obviously it is; for one thing, you use the Force in tuning. Logically, therefore, a Master Force Weilder should be able totune crystals and pearls the best since they are supposedly masters at ... well, ... weilding the Force to suit their purposes.

According to your scheme, however, the only viable template is one that includes MLS, otherwise everyone else is at a disadvatange. That's not balanced and would lead to another set of cookie-cutter templates. MLS Jedi already have a better chance to contructtop-notch hilts, why should they also be the ones with the best chance of tuning crystals and pearls? Yes, those are lightsaber components, but they are not the lightsaber itself. You can be the best flashlight maker in the world, but that doesn't mean you are, or should be,necessarily the best maker of batteries, too. (And vicie versie.)

Basing increased chances for a good tune on something common to all Jedi -- their force pool -- is a far more equitable scheme (assuming a cap for tuning calculations, as has been suggested) than basing it on some distribution of skill mods in one or two skill trees.

You are missing the point

Other people are at a disadvantage because they are not MLS, of course they are. Why should a Jedi that is only 4004 LS have a better/same saber than me at MLS? Leaving tuning out for a second, think of it as CL certified weapons. They are not yet ready to tune crystals to the same stats as I am, like a journeyman plumber cannot plum as good as a guy doing it for 30 years and has a degree in it.

It has NOTHING to do with Master powers and that they use the force to tune. What the hell do they need pearls for? they are force users not saber users. If they are MLS Mpowers, well then they are MLS and can make better sabers.

It should not be based on things common to all Jedi (force pool) because not all Jedi need it, not all Jedi are saber users, not all Jedi are saber crafting masters.

But to make it more fair, put the tuning chance mod int he tech tree. 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 = 80. +20 at master. Would be just like experimentation. Only makes sense, you are more experienced with tuning pearls.

You must be new to Jedi. Or have you forgotten that Lightsabers used to be certified to be crafted and used throughout the tech tree. And before that, throughout the padawan, knight, and guardian trees.

The devs made the horrible mistake of letting every damn novice LS wield 4th generation sabers. You should not be able to craft or wield a 4th gen until MLS, thats how it used to be.

Again, it comes down to why should someone that isnt as skilled be able to make sabers just as powerful. A lightsaber is crafted FULLY by you. All components. The pearls are tuned from experience in being able to get them to maximum stats. At least thats how it should be.

Not that it matters, nothing is going to happen anyways.

lol, I'm not new. I'm not saying the current system is right, I'm saying if a non-Rifleman can wield the top end Rifle without a single skill point in Rifles.....why would you want to intentionally gimp Jedi?

I understand the reasoning, Jedi vs Jedi. You give up skills to get MLS (which atm sucks) while they get near the effectiveness of a MLS (until they fix our speed issue). Yeah, your fix would make sense, in the old system. In the current combat system it's all about combat level. If you were to just go in and change it so the system is different for Jedi only, well we are gimping ourselves to non-Jedi once again. Don't you think we have enough trouble as it is?

If you can convince the Devs to go to Pre-CURB, heck yeah make MLSa truely needed skill again. I'll take it in a heart beat. But not in the current combat system, and that's why as you said nothing is going to happen anyways.

I dont support anything which makes me have to work yet again to get a decent jedi or saber. Ive been a jedi over a year now and Im not prepared to go through it all again for a third time. Do something for the new Jedi but leave those of us who have been through all the hours of krayte hunting and months of jedi grinding the hard way alone. Sorry but its just too much to take any more which seems to be the point dosnt it SOE?

This should be stickied or at least bumped ever day so the devs MIGHT see it.
