See the problem here will be the mere finding out what drops them...
It will be mass hysteria... It really will, I would see servers crashing across the board at this point in the game.
I almost think they better come up with a new idea of how to drop them in the game...because what ever does it will be causing 5000 people to be in one spot and fighting each other to the death to get one.
See what has happend now is that the new guys are getting mad, they will start cutting throats soon to get one... this is the problem...
I see this as a big mess just like the FRS will be if they do not make the trials random for each Jedi..

So as I read the explanation:
- The creature level of the creature that dropped the pearl is a hidden stat on a pearl
- The "quality rating" of a pearl gets calculated on the fly when examining the pearl
- Bringing "quality ratings" in line with post-CU creature levels would lead to existing pearls jumping up a few categories
- Therefore, the quality ratings will not be fixed, but CL 200+ pearls will be introduced as quest rewards, which will then translate into "premium" or "flawless"
This leads to one question:
Why not just adjust the quality ratings and lower the CL of existing untuned pearls in the process? Instead of CL 1 to 600 we now only have CL 1 to 120, so divide the CL of every existing pearl by 5. This would let all types of pearls drop again, not putting new Jedi at a disadvantage, while not increasing the rating of existing pearls.
Seriously, this "we wont fix" pretty much puts players who joined the game later at a serious disadvantage compared to players that joined earlier (or chose to take the Jedi route right away). The problem is not being at a disadvantage initially since veteran players should be rewarded for being veteran, the problem is being at a disadvantage permanently, not able to gain the same veteran status.

How about let Jedi create a "farm" where we can grow premium pearls. Allow us to also have multi-passenger tractors so we can harvest these pearls.

Those will be coming in the 'Gizzards of the Mon Calamari' expansion, wherein everyone's favourite Trap-pointer-outers will be able to ingest dirt and create Pearls of their own.
Unfortunately, this expansion won't be out for a while, as we have the following expansions to look forward to:
Avarice of the Muuns
Now that's what I call Geonosis
The Wound-Healing-NPCs of Polis Massa
I can't believe it's not Darth Maul
Kashyyyk - Again!

The "rare" pearls are simply ones which dropped from very high level creatures. What changed was that combat upgrade altered the levels of creatures. So where a pearl might before have been considered "premium" because it dropped from a level 287 creature, now it isn't considered premium because the creature dropping the pearl isn't level 287 any more.
The possible stats that a pearl can give you are the same, regardless of the pearl quality. The only advantage a "premium" pearl gives you is a better chance of getting higher stats. "Fixing pearls" would be a matter of changing the level ranges for different quality pearls. This would be a retroactive change which would suddenly change all the pearls in the game to be high-level pearls, increasing the power of Jedi globally and almost instantly - Unless we simultaneously lowered the advantage of premium pearls so that they don't give as much an increase to the odds of getting higher stats as they do now.
We would rather keep the premium pearls as they are - highly desirable and much better (in terms of the odds of getting higher stats) than normal pearls, but not drop them as casually as they dropped in the past. These should be rare, elite quest rewards and very high-end, elite-monster drops - not things that players "farm" from creatures that are no match for the player.
Oh geee thanks! So in order to nerf jedi even more we still have to get 50 "good" crystals to get 1 tune that is worth it.
Thanks for letting us now that your view on Jedi is incorrect and still think we are "overpowered".
So lets just give BH krayt tissue, uber pups and uber weapon components for their 65 sac, 1200 damage, 1.2 speed weapons.
Why can every BH have high end equipment by just buying it, but we have to make tough quests or kill "elite" mobs?
Where's the logic on that?
And I hope those pearls we get as reward from quests are really unique and uber, and not just a flawless pearl that appears in our inventory and still has a chance to get crap stats when you tune it.
Thanks for letting us now that SoE is working hard in making this game more unbalanced than ever, and screwing Jedi in the process.

Tiggs,
Is there any chance to loot a premium pearl/crystal now?
If not, when we will be able to loot a premium pearl/crystal again?

just a silly thought.
They are gonna change pearls overall when the expansion comes out and when the frs comes back.
All our old pre cu flawless and premiums will then be converted to something average, putting all sabers on the same playing field again.

While I remain optomistic through all circumstances it would be foolish for me to not react in a realistic manner to such news.
Through interpratation you are saying that Jedi are too powerfull as it is adn theough the combined exponential status of said character existing within this gaming system there is an ever growing concern that said player character is out of line with the game mechanics.
For the record, I prefer the current drop rate on lightsaber componets although I think the current "lightsaber" build is oversimplified and archiac. Jedi players need the ablity to fine tune thier sabers through additional componets. It shouldn't take an excesive amount of brain power to identify the necessity of a lightsaber overhaul. If one is not implemented in the new Force Ranking System within the next 3-4 months I will be extremely disspointed and possibly declate SWG as a dead game.
Lightsabers should exist as a form of a mini-game. The current tunning process is barely functioning at the level of which it should be. Jedi weapons are the weakest in the game and there's little for players to do other then grind, grind, grind and grind. What is needed is reacuring adventures which would provide multiple oportunities to acuired continued saber componets, other then pearls and crystals, which would be continued though reprocessing the quest or mission which would yield such an item.
Sad to say but Knights of the Old Republic has a lightsaber crafting system which is leaps and bounds ahead of anything publicly shared with the community of SWG.
*EDIT (leaving type-o's): For the record: 1h saber; around 660 max dmg; sac 100; worst pearl around 93/93, -0.13, fc -4. I want a lightsaber mini-crafting game where I can loot modulators and enhancers which would provide a VERY minimal impact on it's use. Such as: +5 heat dmg; +10 accuracy; /AttackSkill <requirement>; +5 saber block; +5 force regen; +20 ranged defense; etc...
Having a function where a player were to acquire componets then perform basic crafting fucntions to assemble the individual componets would take this game to the next level that is required to create additional growth that's desired by SOE. Increase that market share guys. Give something to the community which has a reward when playing. It's all about word of mouth.

So the question I wish to get answered is has anyone tuned a 'good' crystal or pearl looted since CU to above 100 dam -9 fc and 0.29 speed?
If the answer is yes then it is just a numbers game.

I for one think this is one of the most unbalanced systems in the game as far as the jedi profession goes and should be completely revamped how sabers are built and the DPS is determined. If I was sitting on a pre-CU saber with an ADKI would be keeping to myself and hoping they never fix it. But alas I am not, my saber has a DPS of 399 and has been that way for months thanks to the poornumber of pearls drops, thepoor way they tune, and thepoor economy of this game. Maybe it's called bad luck, maybe it's called bad development. There are many wonderful things about SWG, this is not one of them.
