exploit=taking advantage of a BUG

thats not abug, its cowardly though

Incorrect. Exploit = taking advantage of a loophole in the game mechanics (be it a coding mistake or an oversight) not intended by the developers to gain advantage. Witness:

Luke: Boba's after me!

Obi-wan: Defend yourself! Use the force!

Luke: screw that, that's too much work. Kill me instead.

Obi-wan: ???

Luke: yeah, if I'm dead, he can't kill me.

Yoda: and backward you say my thinking is?

Anyone who thinks that developers intended the duel feature to act as an escape mechanism for the bounty hunter deathblow is deluded. My advice to you all: don't be surprised if you get reported and lose your account if you try to pull this stunt.

another idea...

Run inside a krayt ancient they insta db

or if you a cloaker use area on krayts cloak && run near the bh the ancient use area hits on you & also on the bh but as cloak you get no damage

Then just db the bh. Hav try this yesterday on captin- ...was fun & works well

i think that isnt an exploit but a use of the environnement considering your skills... & animal control miss me too much too

Players like you are why they should bring back things like saber TEF and xp loss in PvE.

As you want but captin- told me that was intelligent & well see. You also hav to know that he isnt a bad bh at all & very hard to get down if you dnt think out of the lines.

A krayt is a npc & can be use by me or by the bh. Environnement cnt be an exploitcausethe 2 can use it.

it may be cheap but's it is still allowed by the game mechanics.

don't get upset at players, your anger should be directed at the developers for not having the insight to see things like this causing trouble.

Maybe the devs did think about this happening, and it was intended, who knows.

That's just it some people may not want to be involved in forced player versus player. Everyone has their own play style wether it be pvp, solo, or cooperative play. You cant fault them if they dont want to fight you and if they figure a way out of it because they feel forced to pvp or what ever their reasons may be. To each their own i guess. All i know is that the bh forum and the jedi forum are just so saturated with posts like this. I really think SOE needs to find some way to ease this contention between jedi and bounty hunters, wether it be a more clear set of rules for visibility to avoid pvp if you choose, a way to check visibility, vaulantary pvp like the gcw, or scrapp the whole bh vs jedi thing. Some thing, anything would be nice. Sorry peeps i lean more towards the jedi side of the argument. I was a bounty hunter and didnt like killing jedi too much because it just felt wrong to make them loose xp. Cant fault me for that either because thats just how i felt. Any how flame on flame on.

As a BH, I can understand many of your points. I really only wanted to know if this was a reportable offense. I do somewhat disagree with some of your points. As I am due to unlock jedi, I accept the fact that I will be hunted anytime anywhere. I accept the fact that I am open to forced PvP. That is the intended mechanic of jedi.

I understand that there are people who purposely try to give jedi's Vis when they are in a group. It all comes with the territory of being a jedi. I can still understand why someone wouldn't want to have Xp loss after spending countless hours obtaining jedi, but again, it is an intended game mechanic. But all this I have said has been said before over and over by many individuals with a greater understanding than I.

Thank you all for answering and in my opinion the said jedi used an unintended game mechanic but since the DEVs have no opinion of it at the moment, the said jedi was well within the boundaries of the game to use. I still think its lame and cheap.

It is not an exploit. His friend most likly had his mission or entered into a duel mid battle. This should be fixed as i have seen it many times.

So many stupid people are still alive because it is illegal to kill them.

Okay all I'm going to say is that that tactic is lame. Round, you know what a BH can do to a jedi, especially a low level. It doesn't matter if they are a noob or a vet. I have been a jedi for about 5 mo, full temp now, and I wouldn't even think of having a friend db me before a BH can. What challenge is that? You flame him for being a noob, I say grow up and play the game!!! You're only interested in becoming a full temp, he's only interested in his bounty(which is what they do). I'm a Vet of this game and that just isn't right to have another Vet use the bad actions of SWG to escape the inevitable........Makes me sick. Like I said play the game don't use it!!

I think any time you die with a combat TEF with a BH it should count as a successful completion of his mission. My position is fairly straightforward. If you get attacked by a BH and you die you lose. If you don't die you win. Simple. If you don't want to fight I support the right to run. You don't owe any BH a fight, its your right to use everything in your power to avoid fighting him, but if you fight and you die it should count as a successful mission for him.

I had a Jedi suicide into Kimos because he was about to die to me. That's the type of thing that some Jedi will pull though.

The two major flaws of the system could be this.
1) its forced pvp which some people view online gaming as more of a cooperative play no matter what profession they choose to play.
2) The jedi has no incentive to stay, fight, win and has alot too loose if said jedi is not full template.

Because of either of these 2 factors we will continue to see players come up with new ways to avoid pvp no matter what SOE introduces. If there is a will there is a way. Solve either of these 2 factors and i dont think we will see near as many problems. Just my oppinion though.

Too often players and the devs have a mindset that professions should be balanced with 1 on 1 pvp in mind. This mindset is ruining the game. The benchmark for balance should be determined by the role a profession plays in a group setting. As long as the current mindset continues we will never see uniqueness among the professions, nor will we ever see individuality within a given profession. We will never see the SWG universe expanded as the focus will only ever be balance pass after balance pass after balance pass.

Its the players responsiblity not to exploit. You agree to abide by the TOSeverytime you log into the game.

If you believe this is anintended game mechanic to duel another player to avoid the penalty of the bounty hunter mini game then you are retarded. If you don't have the self respect to not exploit you should have your account banned.

Now where did O'etam go to. He isnt posting responses. Bro there is no ill will or hard fellings, this is just a game and I was only checking to see if what you did was within the parameters of this game, it obviously is at the moment. Word of advice, there are people on the other side of your screen, name calling and such will only give ya bad karma. Bad Karma can be a kick in the ass. If ya feel like apologizing for the name calling I will accept and then we can friendly duel and move on..hehe. Seriously bro, its not worth getting all fired up over.

no, it wasn't intended. If you really need someone who works on this project to tell you that then there is little hope that you will ever understand.

Also - Look at it like this. There is no secure code, all that it takes to crack a code is resources and time. The more resources you have, the less time it will take. The developers implement changes that can have unexpected effects on the game mechanics. There are very few developers as compared to players. If even 10% of the players decide that they want to find and use these unintended gameplay mechanics, they will be able to do so at a faster pace than said unintended mechanics can be fixed by a much smaller developer base, who doesn't even devote all of their resources to fixing these types of problems.

Part of being in the community of a project like this is that you take a personal responsibility to report unintended usage of game-play mechanics so that the problems can be rectified. Either that or you're one of the people who wants to use the exploits to your own advantage. There is no justification for being angry at a developer because somebody used an unintended mechanic to "greif" someone else's gameplay. Anger belongs with those responsible for the act, not those who's hard work made it possible for such a situation to come about.

I believe this too not be the case, as the said jedi told me. I told the said jedi I would be back to which he replied, my friend follows me around all the time and we initiate duels so that I never lose xp. Again, lame but its a game mechanic, a mechanic though that should be fixed.
