Thread: Suggestion for Pearl/Crystal Fix.

I like the craftable crystal idea. Except I think craftable crystals should cap around 100 damage -.2 speed -8 fc. this would be good enough that any Jedi could havea really good saber but would still make looting pearls and crystals a goal (when fixed) so we have something to do.
Also, correct me if I am wrong but there is nothing wrong with the pearl/crystal drops or loot tables. What is wrong is the PVE combat level system allowing lvl 300-500 creatues/npc's being able to 1hit kill anything that gets near it. Taking away the ability for melee players to tank. Which is why they were taken out of the game. Yes people can still kill lvl300-500 mobs but only ranged players or master defenders can kill them. Which would be unbalanced and is why it is out of the game.
The devs need to find a solution to pve problems with the level system they added to the game with the cu or loot and high end pve will remain in the state it is in now which is basicly non-existent. This is a huge issue for the game and for all professions. Not just an issue with jedi/pearls.
I agree with the craftable crystal solution as well. Many other weapons use different loot drops as enhancement alternatives (Nightsister Vibro Motors, etc.) and existing crystals could do the same. Then we would have more options to help us create a saber that is more in line with what a Master might use.
Another comment I have is how the current economy is set up with the CA's and Pearl/Crystal drops ... if a Padawan is trying to keep their vis level at a minimum (or zero), they basically have no options to hunt any of the NPCs that drop these items to help enhance their profession (except for the Krayt Dragon). Being able to craft their own crystals would help maintain the vis level and cause the demand for all other ultra high end pearls and crystals to drop since the younger jedi's wouldnt feel they have to have that Premium or Flawless at a price of 5 - 20 million credits.
I still believe the devs need to address the loot tables and drop rates for premium and flawless pearls and crystals.

the fact will be if this happens even if 10 or so people just gave their extra pearls away 100 others would be selling them for 50mil a pop and people will pay for it. they always do.
I think this is the best idea and you could expand on it by adding more mods to experimentation at higher levels in the FRS. This would help make the FRS worth doing if you can make a better saber at knight vs. padwan or sentinal vs. knight.

I've already suggested what I think is the most fair way of fixing the whole pearl/crystal situation....
GET RID OF THEM.
Make crystal packs a normal, craftable component that uses experimentation and carries damage, speed, SAC, and Force Cost stat modifiers. Then the more skills you have in Lightsaber Techniques, the better each part of the lightsaber becomes -- crystal packs and final lightsaber. At Master Lightsaber, with the right resources and using the correct tools and foods, you would have the ability to craft the best lightsabers through skill points and time invested -- rather than through random luck or some prayer to the pearl drop and tuning gods.
That's the way to fix this mess.

Suggestion for Pearl/Crystal Fix.
I recieved a PM today from a community member asking me to address his suggestion. His suggestion was this.
"With the current situation of pearl drops as they are, which is very unbalancing for the game, and the devs seems to have problems fixing it, would it not be an idea to suggest to them to remove the "jedi specific requirement" on already tuned pearls and crystals. As we all know older most older jedi have a stock of tuned pearls they dont use because they have slighty better ones in their saber ADK'ed. this will create a new market and allow older jedi to give to new jedi in their guild, or sell them if they wish."
With that said. I am also aware that this has been dicussed in the past. What I told him was maybe a re-tune option instead of just taking away names (BioLink) from current tunes. I know there are some of us older Jedi that have plenty of extras (in some cases bags of 50) but would it be fair to allow us to sell them for Millions of credits?
/Discuss
Edit:
I guess what I am wondering is would people be ok with this if proposed to the Devs? A re-tune option.

surely if they can make a system to retune crystals/pearls they can make a simple fix for them dropping in the first place?
or am i missing something![]()
