Thread: Why don't people understand? It's not meant to be easy.

I have to agree with SpinningCloud. What exactly do you consider "content"? What would you like to be doing to keep you interested in the game?

You say the theme parks suck and nobody even reads what the npc's have to say anymore because they know that all it is is talk to npc, run 2km, kill random npc in two shots, run back to initial npc. So it's YOU who doesn't give the story of the theme park any attention. Okay, that's fine if you feel that way; how SHOULD the theme parks work? I suppose you didn't like the monthly story arc either right? Cause it's basically the same concept. So how SHOULD the story arc have been handled?

How EXACTLY should quests in the game be handled? How can the quests be changed to add this "content" that you're all seeking so desperately? When you get the patrol quest, you don't patrol, you just go out there to kill whatever you need to as fast as you can so you can get to the next level.

You also don't like the concept of missions? Okay, I can see your point that the missions are repetitive and many of them have nothing to do with Star Wars, but how SHOULD missions be implemented? Do you have a better suggestion? Even if they change to stories behind the missions; maybe make it to where missions give better loot or impact the status of the galaxy or something, you're still going out there to kill npcs or creatures, and you obviously don't find that fun.

You don't like the POIs? Are you one of the people who just drives up to it until you hear the littel "Ding! You've got a new badge!" and then turns around and drives away? That defeats the purpose of a POI. POIs are something that you're supposed to see and say, "Wow! That's just like the movies!" Or, "man that's pretty cool!" Then maybe there are some cool MOBs there that rarely drop some really rare and goodloot and are hard to beat. Instead of experiencing that, people sit there with their super weapons and armor and camp the place. Killing the MOB over and over and over and over until they get the loot.

You didn't like the old system because it made everyone grind through professions as fast as they could so they could unlock. How is that the devs' fault? They didn't force you to do anything, people CHOSE on their own to grind through the professions instead of actually PLAYING the professions. The main reason I didn't hologrind was because I liked being a CM and didn't want to give it up. I wouldn't mind trying Entertainer or Musician or one of the other combat professions one day, but only after I've had enough of playing my CM. I actually tried Pistoleer and didn't like it, so I tried some Carbineer and found it to be enjoyable as well. That's called PLAYING professions, not GRINDING them.

You don't like the new Jedi system because you say it's not quest based. So you're suggesting that the system should be; talk to certain npc, get a mission to kill some random creature or npc, drive 2km, kill random creature or npc, return to initial npc, repeat 5 or 6 times, get rewarded with a Jedi? If that's the case, you CANNOT be one of the people who is complaining that mass amounts of Jedi will ruin the game.

I just don't understand what people want from the game. More content, but everytime content gets added, everyone blazes through it as fast as they can, not because they want to, but because theythink it's a requirement to reach their final goal.No grinding xp to become a Jedi? Yet this is a MMORPG; these games are based on experience. Why doesn'tanyone complain about the xp required to gain skills in the normal professions? Is it because they've figured out howto grind through that xp in a few hours? What is it exactly that you all are looking for?

What excactly are you all looking for?

Simple answer:

Balanced PvP between all combat classes.

Monthly Driven Story Arc where the outcome effects the game.

Jedi unlocking system that is quest based not experience grind fest.

If you need a time sink, add timers to each box. Then we can go "play the game" as you suggest.

In game player events that are random. Have NPCs attack major cities at random.

Intoduce new characters or creatures each month. Has anyone seen this rare creature? etc.

Instanced Raid Battlefields. Battlefields can hold say 60 people. Inside the two sides battle for control and rewards.

There is so much that could be done.

I like these ideas, but isn't most of that stuff in the works already?

The problem with crafting is that the FS crafting xp is a whole lot harder to get than the FS combat xp. There needs to be a reasonable balance so as not to grossly advantage one particular type of professions when the idea behind the system is that a member of any profession should be able to pursue force sensitivity.

Some of it was in the game was abanded to work on Jedi grinding.

Balanced PvP between all combat classes. Great myth of the Combat Revamp....TH says just wait for the Revamp....2005?

Monthly Driven Story Arc where the outcome effects the game. We did have a monthly story arc in the game but was dropped due to staffing problems

Jedi unlocking system that is quest based not experience grind fest. Told it was quest based but really a huge experience time sink.... just talking about unlocking here not when you become a Jedi.

If you need a time sink, add timers to each box. Then we can go "play the game" as you suggest.

In game player events that are random. Have NPCs attack major cities at random. Also was some effort put toward this idea...again also dropped to work on Jedi and JTL.

Intoduce new characters or creatures each month. Has anyone seen this rare creature? etc.

Instanced Raid Battlefields Battlefields were in the game at launch....turn off the same time as harvester animations...why? dunno

Ya think of it this way... If you grind to Jedi using the new system your gonna be even more pleased with yourself than doing it the "old", "easy" way...

Personally, Id love for the DEVs to wipe the server. Have everyone start from scratch, and hide the FS system. That way, the people that DO unlock, will unlock in such a way that they will be some of the few and the proud. I mean, back in the day, I remember when one jedi in theed would attract hundreds of people. Now its oh jedi, another jedi, yet another jedi, oh look more jedi, theres 3 over there...Ive got a jedi, the grind is horrible. I feel bad for any new unlockers, you wont be a pvping jedi for months. When I mean months, I really mean never.

dont agree i not seen any active jedi more now than old system, ive seen lots of people in village doing quests for fs but certainly no more jedi running round, whole time ive played ive seen 1-2 in theed , coupleat corilla(forget spelling)and one on endor and that was old system not new. jedi dont noramaly show themselfs much anyway and thats not changed now.

Grinding out xp is another poor way to avoid content. All it is, is the hologrind with a different look. Oh, and it takes longer now too. Not that taking a long time is bad, but this is not the way it should be done.

There's your problem right there. You made up your mind to sit and click your mouse 24/7 until you've earned the xp you need.

So it takes (hypothetically) 5000 stimpacks foryou to gain the xpyou need to getyour first FS skill. (I say stimpacks cause I'm a medic) Why do you feel the need to stop playing the game as you normally do and sit at your computer from 8:00am to 10:00pm crafting those stimpacks? Why can't you just craft the stimpacks as you need them, (which is what you were probably doing before) and once you get the right amount of xp, go turn it in to the village? Nobody is making you grind this xp out but you.

What other method should there be for gaining crafting xp other than crafting? What would you suggest?

I'll tell you why... I have been a Chef for 9 months.. over the course of thoes 9 months ,after getting master, I have accumulated 30k exp... A crafter does not get exp from making schematic, nor from making items in a factory... now if I was to do what you said, go about normal play and turn in exp as you get it, it would take me 30.75 years to get 1 tree of Crafting Mastry...

im biased main reason i like new system was doing all the profs to try to get jedi and then being stuck with a prof i didnt want to be sucked eggs on old system, getting jedi but being stuck with a master cheif wasnt my idea of fun(all though they make good money)

now it might take a long time to get but im only going to be doing what i want to be. People who want full jedi will have to do a lot work to get it , people who did all the profs on old systemhave no reason to feel cheapend by new system since it will still take people long time to catch up to old jedi.

because many/most of the people that play this are kids/slackers that have no willpower or patience.

jedi wanted - slackers need not apply
