That being said.... I think that since SWG has decided to implament cybernetic body parts into the game, then maybe us Jedi could have a bit of fun with it. I am in no way suggesting that the DEV's try to make the game graphic in nature so that body parts go flying, however I do have a suggestion, let me break it down.
:: Current Gameplay Facts ::
- When a BH kills a Jedi, the Jedi loses massive amounts of xp
- When a BH kills a Jedi, the BH makes tons of money
- When a BH takes a Jedi mission, the BH can bring friends to help
- When a Jedi gets attacked, NO ONE can help them at all
- When a Jedi actually kills a BH, they get nothing (except being on the BH-Terms some more)
Seems to me that Jedi lose no matter how you look at it, in a BH encounter. If the BH wins, he gets paid and the Jedi gets the shaft. If the Jedi wins, he gets... well... you guessed it.... more BH's coming for him...
Bottom line is this. Jedi stand to lose everything in these encounters, and BH's stand to lose absolutely nothing but a trip to the nearest cloner.
:: My Cybernetic Suggestion ::
- The game already has cybernetics set up, and coded into the game, to pop onto your body randomly at different cloners if you did not clone before you died. You might have seen some of your friends walking about Dathomire with silver legs a few times
- I say this... If a BH is defeated in combat by a Jedi, then to simulate the body parts that would normally most certainly hit the floor, make them clone automatically with a Cybernetic Body part at random. but not just any old generic Cybernetic... one with negative stats too it... ex... -15 terrain neg, or -10 melee def, etc etc
- These cybernetics can still be removed by a Cyber-Doc in the Hospital anytime they wish, BUT... it would cost the BH whatever his Jedi mission was worth that he failed. So if a BH took a 225k mission on a Jedi and dies, then it will cost him 225k to remove his horrible new body part
I just think it's high time that BH's actually had some risk in going up against an opponent such as the Jedi. You have all heard BH's say.... " Oh I only do it for the money".... "Nuthing personal".... ok fine, lets hit them where it counts, in thier pocket book

Actually, I could support this, sounds like fun. Though, the removal fee is kinda high and would encourage bottom feeding even more. Now, the usual fee or 10% of the bounty amount or so could work.
However, the current mechanic does not allow this to happen if you are cloned, and on a regular planet. So, in order to fit it to the current game mechanic that restriction might have to be put in as well.
I agree with Tanks, setting the cost for removal at the bounty payout, will only encourage bottom feeding. Maybe reverse it, so if a BH takes a low end mission and fails they pay big, but if they take a high end mission and fails they won't have to pay as much. That way it would encourage BH's to take higher difficulty missions.
This guy has it nailed, fail a paddy mission and pay the price. Nice risk/reward ratio.
Humm.....
I think the concept is that a BH can gain cash for doing their job. Jedis.. long term gain power. The cash is a incentive to hunt jedi. The jedis Incentive is to gain power. Which is part of the problem in the first place. Sure most of you guys greatly want to enjoy playing a jedi. I dont blame you either. jedi are icons of the Star Wars universe and they are pretty dammed cool.
I dont think making a negative consequence in the manner you suggest is the right way to go. You do not like or consider it fun when you lose exp. Hence why you are driven to the idea you suggest ( IMO I could be wrong) Basically you feel like you "get shafted" now you wantthe other side to feel your pain.
I think rather than suggest an idea along that line I think there should be a way to penalize jedi for dying and Bh for failing. Ideas like ( for BH) Fail too many misisons ina row get reduced payouts, make it harder for them to get tracking info, a number of days or hours they can not hunt.
The new over all goal of SOE is to make it so that all sides have "FUN". Losing exp when you die is not fun. Having a penalized cybernetic is not fun. I think there would be far more success with ideas that carry a penalty that do not impose such a negative gameplay aspect.
I dont know what a good penalty on the jedi side would be but losing hours of gameplay for death also seems like an unfair or overly harsh penalty in the system. Maybe not being able to go to the village for a day or something I dont know. That slows advancement by not letting you train but doesnt take away hours of game play. Similar to a BH not being able to say hunt a day for failing.
Just an idea from another player. And for the record I am currently a BH ( never hunted a jedi as yet) I have considered becoming a jedi but the negative exp aspect and the constant grinding seem mind numbing to me. I can understand the feelings the Jedi have about the situation. I just think the ideas should be made to make things fair BOTH ways. The idea shouldnt be to make it worse for the other side because its bad for you. Seek to help others maybe they will seek to help you? Just how I feel anyway.
Oh, and having to wake up with a cyberlimb in general is still a cool idea. I mean sabers DO cut body parts off....
Interesting idea

Qui Gon Jin's death to Darth Maul. I do believe he was stabbed not chopped in half.
As I recall there were 3 Sabers Drawn in that same duel... and by the end of this fight Darth Maul lost more than just a limb... he lost his entire Torso.... That is, if you focus on the entire fight from start to finish.... and i would say that Obi Wan definately finished the fight. ![]()
Also if you look very closely, there are some unconfirmed rumors that Qui Gon Jin did infact break a nail in that same fight.
Does that count???

Yes, but you are missing what Jedi gain. You gain all those Jedi skills, which makes you far superior to any other player. This is the balance. Balance may not seem fair on your side, but it makes it fair to every other player. Jedi can't have everything, and thus there is a penalty to offset their power.

While this seems like an okay enough idea, I still disagree because of the balance factor. BH do not gain all the special abilities that Jedi do, as do no other professions. It would be unfair to penalize a profession that doesn't get a benefit. Again, this may seem fair on your side, but it wouldn't be balanced.

Horrible idea. This will only make it so that BH target ONLY low level Jedi that they know they can defeat, and will further increase the amount of ganking that goes on. If a BH knows he can't defeat a 225k Jedi and knows that when he loses he not only can't collect the bounty, but also will have to pay out that 225k, no one will ever fight higher level Jedi. We'll go after the low level guys who are complaining that they get hunted too often as it is. Not to mention the fact that there wouldn't be a plausible reason that the same cybernetic doctor would charge me so much more for the same operation.

Again, the risk has to come with a reward. Getting paid for doing our job isn't a reward big enough to compensate for this kind of risk. Everyone gets paid to do their job, crafters, rangers, hunters, smugglers, etc. I'm talking about a reward on par with the Jedi rewards if we are supposed to be penalized. As I have stated, this may see fair on your side, but that doesn't mean it is balanced.

<sigh>
Movie Logic.
If you apply the dismemberment logic to the game on the basis that sabre fights end up that way then consistent logic would require chest and head shots from DL-44's or E-11'sto instantly kill reagrdless of armour.
Why ?
Because that's what happened in the movies.
I also found it very amusing to notice an earlier Jedi poster stating that this would probably cause even more hunting of low level Padawans but hey, he'd be happy as he'd probably be left alone.
Nice to see a sense of community in the Jedi profession.
