Thread: If the Jedi Cloaks from ToOW were Wook only....
Message Edited by thepulse on 11-01-2005 11:19 AM
They have no reason to cry about a bowcaster, there are other rifles that can be equiped at a low lvl with the exact same dps... You see riflemen are compensated for the wookiee bowcaster becausethere are other rifles out there they can choose from... in this case there are a total of 4 new cloaks and we dont have another option... and if your goign to tell me the paddy robes please read some of the other posts i have made on this thread.. im geting tired of repeating myself...

what does character stats have to do with being left out of loot...?

actually if you are talking about pre-cu stats (which we werent, but ill play along) then yes we did have an advantage when it came to allocating stats to gain regeneration rates that were unavailable to other species. BUT... at first we had no armor, and wearing armor was leagues better than the allocated stats we could achieve. then once we got armor, the mega doc buffs that were available made any stat increase we had completely insignificant. but since this isnt pre-cu, and its post cu, then your arguement has no validity at all, and therefore you arent even playing the game.

would you use the +200 health item if it meant your action and mind regened slower?
Would you trade in a decrease in your mind/health regen for an increase in your health regen? How about terrain negotiation increase ? Speed increase? Look up the pre-cu stats, and you'll find wookies had a larger overall stat allocation of HAM and substats to any other species. We can play this game all day, but how about I score it as a vote for amorphous blobs.

I understand your argument and agree with some species getting the shaft but I thought about species restriction when I created my toon no offense just stating a fact. Human ftw!
i understood the difference too. i looked at the advantages and disadvantages when deciding to choose a wookiee. unfortunately the few paragraphs that describe wookiees in the character creation page didnt go very far to describe the disadvantages, as much as they tried to say why being a wookiee is good. they go on and on describing the great strength and the strong affinity for nature. Unfortunately what they dont mention is that when you do quests in the game, that the rewards will be little more than decorations to you, because you wont be able to wear them. They do not mention that there are no quests, bosses or loot that provide wookiees with items which they can use that will provide the same advantages as the items given to other species. When armor was put into the game for the wookiees, it wasnt because we whined so much, its because the combat system showed that wookiees were at a distinct disadvantage because armor provided much more defence than our inate defensive attributes. What adding wookiee armor into the game did, was balance out the species. It still left some holes because if a wookiee was hit in the hands, feet or arms, there was no protection there. this was also noticed by the trandoshans who could not wear gloves or boots, and as such had the same armor hole. The combat upgrade introduced a system where these pieces are not taken into consideration when damage is distributed around the body, thus allowing for equality among the species once again. Obviously the game developers and programmers are interested in keeping things balanced and trying to maintain a happy medium where every species has the same opportunities as the rest.
Giving wookiees and ithorians the ability to wear the cloaks, or putting in an item that has similar enhancements that is available to wookiees and ithorians, would give us the opportunity to compete equally with everyone else. This all has nothing to do with the species i created in the beginning. Please forgive me for not having the insight to foresee wookiees being excluded in this regard. I can only hope that we were just forgotten or that it was an error of some kind. If you wouldnt mind borrowing me the crystal ball you used to predict this world we presently live in, then perhaps i could avoid future pitfalls.
well after thinking about it more... i think there should be at least 1 option for wooks getting some type of cloak
So i also agree! should be seperation but shouldnt leave ya guys out in the cold with nothing. even if it was serperate parts of clothing like a tree dwellers hood and gloves or cape or something!

hmm...
How much outcry do you think if there was a +200 health item that was always on, took up no clothing spots, never decayed, and was only usable by wookies? Oh wait, they already have that, nevermind. Have cake? Eat it? Have cake? Eat it? I've got an idea: let's get rid of races entirely, and all be amorphous blobs with identical stats and abilities.

would you use the +200 health item if it meant your action and mind regened slower, and that half of the potential sockets in clothing that you can wear, is cut in half? would you use the +200 health item if using it meant that you could use/wear less than 25% of the loot (the loot that is clothing/uniforms/armor/jewelry). how bout now? we dont have cake. we have a window to look through while we watch the rest of you eating cake.
