Starting to get kinda used to it..... been playing a while was VERY used to the old system....

But if im gonna be honest I hated it from day one.

Besides found old system a much better way of managing group health. IE choose who to heal and not just person under attack by one certain mob.

I have an infusion macro that I run (also loads aura), and I have a simple /forceheal self on my tool bar to make sure when I want to heal myself I heal myself...

my preference is.... if i hit heal andmy target is not valid, the heal defaults to heal myself. definately.

it wouldn't be so bad if there weren't long ass timers.

Hate it

I am in a group of 8 and we are fighting 10 level 82 mobs at once I caint even click on the lowest hp group member one to heal them.

Heal without a target chosen should heal ourselves by default.

A mouse click on who I want to heal and a heal should heal them.

What is pass thru healing? aka Assist healing.

When you have a mob targeted and that mob is attacking a fellow group member you will attempt to heal that group member if you use a heal such as Force Heal, B. Shot, etc. This is much like assist attacking where you target your group member and hit an attack special and you will attack the same target. However, this works in the reverse where you target the mob and attempt to heal it resulting in healing the mobs target.

Pros

1. You dont have to look at who you want to heal and can stay targeted on the mob but still heal a friendly.

Cons

a. Often you intend to heal yourself but wind up getting a "invalid target" type of error because the friendly is too far way.

b. Often heal a friendly even though you really wanted to heal yourself but with the auto target system (targets what ever is attacking you) it is difficult to get yourself targeted.

c. Often wish to heal a friendly that is targeted but wind up healing a different friendly or getting an error because just as you have your patient targeted a mob attacks you and auto targets you to them resulting in a error or a different friendly getting healed.

d. The work around many use is a macro such as "/forceheal self". The down side is one needs multiple commands so that you can still heal others as well as yourself.

e. Makes using enhancers (for non-Jedi) very difficult because there isn't a command that can be used.

What are your thoughts on this topic?

Pass through attacking is great, pass through healing is hella lame, thanks for taking a sec of your time to come here, doc....voice the concerns generated here in the correspondants forum please, if you would be so kind.

In my many experiences, when I have a mob targeted and attempt to heal, it has never made me attempt to heal the person that mob was attacking. So I'm not sure that it works that way, although I won't necessarily rule that out, I just haven't had it happen to me in thousands of healing attempts. However, I have found that what seems to happen more often is that once you heal another person, unless you target yourself for your next healing attempt or use a self healing macro, no matter what you have targeted, so as long as it's not another player or yourself, you will always attempt to heal the very last person you healed.

so if for instance, I'm attacking a mob and a group member needs healing. I switch to him, heal him and the go back to attacking mobs. Then I may need to heal myself next time I use heal or infusion but when I do, I automatically heal that group member again becuase he was the last group member that I had targeted. This happens even if I am attacking a different creature than he is. There can be the person I healed last round attack his own creature by himself and I can be attacking a completely different creature with another group member and when I attempt to heal, it doesn't try to heal the group member that is attacking the same target as I am, instead it will heal the last person I healed no matter who the assisting member is on the target I'm attacking. As a jedi, it's easy to tell due to the stream of energy shooting across the screen. So at least for jedi heals, having a mob targeted and attempting to heal yourself doesn't transfer the heal to another member attacking the same mob unless you previously healed that player on your last heal attempt.

So it sounds to me that the game keeps memory of the last person you healed and the only way to erase that memory is to either target yourself and heal, use a self heal macro or heal another person. In any case, the very last person you healed will always be the person that your next heal will try to target and heal.

As far as what do I think about it. I think the assisted heals are great most of the time and it doesn't bother me because I've always used a /forceheal self macro mapped to shift+mouse button 2 every since I started playing back in 2003. So I never have a problem with it when trying to heal myself. Only time I have issues with it is when I use the normal heal by accident instead of my self heal macro. I have got incapped a few times because of it, but it's not that bad really as long as I don't forget to use my self heal macro.

Not sure if anyone has suggested this...but here goes:

Add an option to the Combat Tab under Option to turn pass through Healing On/Off

Easy fix

I hate assisted healing....

a good healer uses the group menu to select the person they want to heal, and when I want to heal myself I end up healing some other guy instead....

I mean it was a good idea and all but it has caused me more incaps than saves.

Honestly I don't like the feature.

Its very easy to see group members HAM bars and, to click on that member to target them for a heal/buff. Thats how I always do it. You can also see if they are even in range for the heal. No -invalid target-. Some times in a rough fight that one lost move can cost you.

Can be frustrating when you are trying to untarget or, target self during an intense fight. I also tried the "forceheal self" macro but as someone mentioned, you need an additional command in your toolbar to heal another target.

Just my opinion.
