Thread: How do you feel about pass thru healing?

I don't like it. To many times I have healed the wrong person or not healed myself because of it.

I currently have both Combat Medic and Jedi Healing in my template. (The exact combination I'll keep to myself, thanks)

From the perspective of both a CM and a Jedi, I don't like this feature. Even with 24 toolbar buttons, it always seems I don't have enough room for 2 versions of bactatoss and forceheal. And as other posters have mentioned, I sometimes forget and heal the wrong person (a group member who didn't really need it when I intended to heal myself).

It's even more annoying when a Bounty Hunter or duel is involved....

I do not like pass thru healing. The concept is ideal but it's annoying if you're trying to heal yourself. I say No.

I think the system is brilliant, but I have also adapted very well to it. I have 4 hotkeys, heal self, heal other, infuse self, infuse other.

Its a good and safe system. Healing myself with the right key when needed, and whoever is targeted by mob etc with a push on the other key.

Like to add that all my buttons on the keyboard are macroes.. Using just f1-f12 simply isnt effective enough

I find this feature highly annoying and I do not like it. It's because of this feature I made /forceheal self and /forceinf self macros so I only heal myself. If someone else needs healing, they can either wait for a doc to heal or wait until I have a free moment to type out a heal for them specifically.

Pass-through healing is fine when it's just a few enemies and they're targeting one or two people.

Pass-through healing is annoying as all heck when it's one enemy doing AOE attacks, or when your group is being mobbed by critters.

Prty good in my oppion can have its disadvantages but easily solved with simple macros. The games better with it in imo aslopng as macros to bypass it stay, e.g. /forceheal self;

I hate it... Whoever devised it needs to remember that the real life matters

What is pass thru healing? aka Assist healing.
When you have a mob targeted and that mob is attacking a fellow group member you will attempt to heal that group member if you use a heal such as Force Heal, B. Shot, etc. This is much like assist attacking where you target your group member and hit an attack special and you will attack the same target. However, this works in the reverse where you target the mob and attempt to heal it resulting in healing the mobs target.
Pros
1. You dont have to look at who you want to heal and can stay targeted on the mob but still heal a friendly.
Cons

a. Often you intend to heal yourself but wind up getting a "invalid target" type of error because the friendly is too far way.

b. Often heal a friendly even though you really wanted to heal yourself but with the auto target system (targets what ever is attacking you) it is difficult to get yourself targeted.

c. Often wish to heal a friendly that is targeted but wind up healing a different friendly or getting an error because just as you have your patient targeted a mob attacks you and auto targets you to them resulting in a error or a different friendly getting healed.

d. The work around many use is a macro such as "/forceheal self". The down side is one needs multiple commands so that you can still heal others as well as yourself.

e. Makes using enhancers (for non-Jedi) very difficult because there isn't a command that can be used.

What are your thoughts on this topic?

THIS IS THEEEE WORST IDEA EVER! I GOT KILLED BY A BH BECUASE I HEALED SOME WOOKIE IN MY GROUP INSTEAD OF MYSELF. I know use a /forceheal self macro and I tell everyone I know 2 make one.

fix the crap back to where if you targeted the mob and used the heal it defaults to you and if you want to heal someone else either target them and use it or type the command in /forceheal $name

Hmm as a solution to this for folk who like or dislike this ability, why not make a check box in the option window in the misc tab to have pass through healing as either on or off. Then folks can decide on their own and everyone can be happy. Eh?

Well I do remember Han having a one piece suit made out of carbonite but it weighed a ton. Still it didnt require any ironing and was very wear resistant.
