Thread: TH & Tiggs, Please Read Visibility Griefing

I personally feel only Imperial NPCs and SF Imperial players should give visibility (and of course Imperial player or NPC droids).
Although with rangers soon stealing from players in their revamp and smugglers on the terminals it would seem the game's taking a turn for approved player griefing.

There is nothing to stop you from telling your group to go somewhere else.

You really can't change the system anymore unless they just remove BH missions altogether.

btw, why exactly are you afraid to die. Most spin groups will make up a non-completed templates lost xp within 30 mins.

If the group goes elsewhere, there's nothing to stop the BH from following you around all night.

Why complain? Hell, I'm not even a Jedi, I have nothing to fear. I'm posting because griefing is BAD. It's bannable for a reason. And this should be a fairly easy fix to resolve the issue with a few minutes of coding.

Not true. They can change it lotsa ways. Maybe make it so player chars cannot cause visibility, just NPC chars.

Irrelevant. Many try to stay off of the terminals because theydon't want PvP. A case can be made that those trying to cause visibility is trying to force PvP on others non-consentually. This needs to be stopped.

This weekend while working on my crafter, my guild channel picked up a disturbing new trend. Apparently some BHs out there are actively seeking groups that are grinding with Jedi in them and justhanging out within visibility range. The Jedi players have two choices, either to stop their play session, or to gain visibility that the BH who's standing there can later use to hunt them.

While this obviously qualifies as griefing (purposly disrupting another player's gameplay), it also brings up a serious flaw in the visibility system. To be balanced, BHs simply should not be able to generate visibility. There's no other class in the game that can basically create their own PVP targets, nor should there be. However, the flaw doesn't stop there. Even if BHs couldn't generate visibility, they could have their friends and alts do the same thing.

What really needs to be done is a cap on how much visibility a player can give another player within a 24-hour period. This will still allow BH's to do their thing, but will limit the damage they can do. Given that we don't really know fully how visibility works, this may already be in place. If it is, excellent, and the BH's are wasting their time. If it isn't, it needs to be.

Comments?

I think Jedi have said this for over a year I can think of now.

clone camping sucked too btw

Ah, ok fairly easy fix.......by making BH's not count towards visibility? Why not just ask for 90% of the non-Jedi community to not cause visibility lol.

If the BH is following how do you know he doesn't already have your mission???? I had someone follow me up until I used the shuttle, should I have called "ban the **edit**"?

It's not griefing unless you know their intentions. There is no way to know what anyones intentions are unless you can read minds. btw, as I said previously if you die you lose 15-30 mins of grinding. Completely different from the previous system where it was about 3-4 hours. Devs have bent over backwards to accomidate the non-PvPers, this is going to far.

Man.... you guys are just viz-nuts!

I had the 2 stupidest things happen this weekend.

1. I was grinding on Dant and dueling a person in group. The Jedi in the group told us to take it out of viz range because they didn't want to gain visibility from MY DUEL. Myself and the guy I was dueling can give a rip less about viz so we continue to duel. We get 1 warning to quit, then 2 warnings, then a 3rd and the group leader booted me and my friend for dueling in group. HAHA. Then to top it off they told me to move away from MY LAIR because they wanted to grind and not get vis. IT'S MY LAIR! Viz-Idiots

2. I had to come to a jedi spin group lair with my alt and deliver some food to them. I am GIVING them food. I was 60 m away with my CL1 crafter and I was getting tell hell to stay away and how I am giving everyone visibility. 60m?!?!? Good god man. 60 m away while grinding is a HUGE deal but you have no problem coming within 1m of me with an aura and infusion macro? HAHA

Anyway, get over it. It's not bannable. It's not a sploit. It's part of the game. Visibility is inevitable in todays spin groups and the xp from a death is recoverable in a matter of 2 hours.

It is not a bannable offense so I can just stop you right there... I have been a BH for well over a year, I have hunted Jedi since droids didnt work... I have followed jedi around with /follow making them stop grinding because they said "You cant follow me its griefing and a bannable offense" So I told them to report me and I continued to follow them around and gain them vis.... did I ever get banned or warned? Nope I did not. It was what we called Collecting Information, back in the days when a BH actually needed Information on their marks....

Bottom line, all you carebear jedi need to zip it because you have it so easy now its unreal.

You could at least PRETEND to read the post you're responding to. I said LIMITING how much vis you could generate, not eliminate.
