as far as im concerned loosing vis from players would be an awful thing for the game..

this is a massivly multiplayer game, get used to other players doing their thing, if you dont like bumping into other players, make steps to avoid bumping into any, stay away from busy areas, go get lost in the wilderness somewhere.. you dont 'have to do it with missions', there are plenty areas where you will find large lairs better than any mission will give you...

or go play a solo game like jedi academy or something..

i was stood inside my house once, right near MO and some jedi spin group were outside and started giving massive verbal abuse to some noobie player that flew up to them wanting to join, the abuse they gave this player that knew no better was astoundingly bad and whiney and territorial and they were well out of line,

in fact these players were far worse than anything any following ( griefing/ doing his job )bh does to a 'stupid sloppy jedi', so what did i do after this noobie player left, ( he was obviously generally upset),

I + cloak+ 'd and then went and stood right next to the offending stupid jedi for well over half an hour with him doing his holier than though im a jedi and own the world attitude ,with the pure intention to give him vis to reward him for being well out of order .

This weekend while working on my crafter, my guild channel picked up a disturbing new trend. Apparently some BHs out there are actively seeking groups that are grinding with Jedi in them and justhanging out within visibility range. The Jedi players have two choices, either to stop their play session, or to gain visibility that the BH who's standing there can later use to hunt them.

While this obviously qualifies as griefing (purposly disrupting another player's gameplay), it also brings up a serious flaw in the visibility system. To be balanced, BHs simply should not be able to generate visibility. There's no other class in the game that can basically create their own PVP targets, nor should there be. However, the flaw doesn't stop there. Even if BHs couldn't generate visibility, they could have their friends and alts do the same thing.

What really needs to be done is a cap on how much visibility a player can give another player within a 24-hour period. This will still allow BH's to do their thing, but will limit the damage they can do. Given that we don't really know fully how visibility works, this may already be in place. If it is, excellent, and the BH's are wasting their time. If it isn't, it needs to be.

Well, there are many other places and planets you can go and grind. For some reason I can't find a group going to those places and jedi like to grind in places where everybody go. For example planet Endor, less npcs and more creatures equal to less visibility. No a lot of people go there too. Why in hell people go to places where bounty hunters will be waiting for you to show up? My visibility is low because I try not to grind in those populated areas but too bad I can't solo grind.

btw, why exactly are you afraid to die. Most spin groups will make up a non-completed templates lost xp within 30 mins.

You don't know what you are talking about. He must be a level 80 jedi with people he knows and meet in the game all the time, for other player it takes hours to back to positive number. If you are not a jedi don't post things like this. You don't have a glue like a bounty hunter who told me he will go to the village to talk to a npc there to get force aura.

It is not a bannable offense so I can just stop you right there... I have been a BH for well over a year, I have hunted Jedi since droids didnt work... I have followed jedi around with /follow making them stop grinding because they said "You cant follow me its griefing and a bannable offense" So I told them to report me and I continued to follow them around and gain them vis.... did I ever get banned or warned? Nope I did not. It was what we called Collecting Information, back in the days when a BH actually needed Information on their marks....

Bottom line, all you carebear jedi need to zip it because you have it so easy now its unreal.

Dude, if you followed me around in game without having a mission on me I'd get you banned for ooc harassment so fast the air would crackle.

I think the BEST solution to this problem is to do what many others have stated before... Limit visibility towithin NPC City limits... That way it is those who are running around Theed and C'net flashing their powers/sabers that are punished, and not those out grinding in the wilderness are doing what they should, and staying out of the public eye.

Is standing 20m outside the Dantooine Mining outpost or in a player city really "staying out of the public eye" though? You're saying neither of these would generate visibility.

Yes, I do believe a player city is "out of the public eye."... Cuz being in a player built city, the only "public" I would have to deal with much is my fellow guildmates and the occasion SF squad I'd be helping to defend our bases from.

But if I am in MY GUILD'splayer city, then I am not thrusting my powers down the public's throat by PvP'ing or dueling where the GENERAL public convenes, now am I?

As for the 20m away from Dant Outpost...think about the semantics of your question, because the logic you use makes no more sense than the visibilty laws already in place, because I could be dueling witha friend 35 meters from you, and tho you can see me in all my jedi glory, you aren't affecting my viz, because you are further than 32m away, right? So that little argument is null and void.

well i think hes talking about the proximity to the NPC city. Would NPC's theoreticaly see you if you are showing off you jedi-ness just outside the city limits. In theory yes but it would be the best place to start if we just kept it to inside the city limits generating vis, if that would ever happen. Of course to make it more realistic they could extend to city limit zone out further.

Too often players and the devs have a mindset that professions should be balanced with 1 on 1 pvp in mind. This mindset is ruining the game. The benchmark for balance should be determined by the role a profession plays in a group setting. As long as the current mindset continues we will never see uniqueness among the professions, nor will we ever see individuality within a given profession. We will never see the SWG universe expanded as the focus will only ever be balance pass after balance pass after balance pass.

But that "but they can still see you" logic is still negated by the laws already in place... An NPC 35 meters away from me won't effect my viz at all, because he is further than 32meters away...but he can still "see me" right?
