Thread: Why has the Jedi profession come to this point!?

Interesting, the correspondents have been having a discussion about this very thing. Here are my thoughts on this subject.:
IMHO, all the non-PvP Jedi have hurt the profession immensely. They have wanted faster and quicker access to Jedi (the village, and easy experience). They have wanted faster and quicker way of leveling their Jedi (no visibility in groups, and group exp. ease in spin groups). They have wanted the BH missions to be less effective (Move Jedi missions to MBH, no names, and no bounty amount tied to Jedi's levelon terminals). They wanted it to be less risky to be a Jedi (no Saber TEF, no skill loss etc.).
They have gotten all that. As a result the profession itself has gotten nerfed to hell and back, and it is no longer an elite-elite profession that is hard to get, hard to level, and risky to boot. Therefore, the power of the profession has been curtailed to fall in line with other elite professions.

I love how the people that want permadeath back never experienced it. So just where is your ultimate power when you're grinding LS just to be viable and able to spin stuff and you lose your first two deaths to SoEs crappy netcode? LDs, and just straight up bugs.
Oh wait, you never experienced perma-death did you? The problem with permadeath was there was nothing to differentiate between deaths due to the buggy system and actual player error related deaths.
Sohere is another scenario: You die your final time because you go LD in the middle of that mega battle and get pwnt while you're trying to log back in, or restart your client instead of taking a couple dozen people with you. How do you feel about perma death then?
Saber TEF with death decay and skill loss more than cut the mustard as risk. Losing a Tier IV box sucks. Plus if you die a bunch you can't even grind safely for a long while.

You assume i wasn't a jedi then.

for your information, there are a number of us which play this game for the thrill of adventure and the spirit of friendship and could care less if you're a jedi or how many others there may be. How about trying this on for size: I'll play my game, and you play yours, and you quit trying to define the game to maximize your ego at the expense my options. You want to feel powerful and important, do missionary work in Africa and grind out some good housing there. They'll give you all the praise you seek and you're effort will mean something lasting and real. This is a game, and you and your attitudeare part of the problem.

The sad truth behind the RPG like gaming systems in MMOs is their inability to allow a players skill to show through in fights. the oridionals poster's description of his jedi's death is uaually what happens in games like unreal tournament or other FPS. The game machanics are fluid enough to allow a smart player to rip through a whole force if the circumstances stack their way. The RPG game like machanics dont do that. RPG machanics origional intention was to prevent players from stepping off the beaten story path and accessing sections of the game they wern't sopposed to be at yet. that system utterly bits for player vs player combat and is something MMO developers are starting to realize the hard way.

All I think about is howdifferent Jediare in the books and movies from the game.
We see Obi-Wan taking on a room full of droids and fighting Grievous, who has 4 sabers, all at the same time, and winning. Qui-Gon's saber being able to eat through a solid steel door.Jedi can sense "disturbances in the force" and know before-hand ifanything is out of the ordinary, or if they are about to be attacked.Obi-Wanquestioning and hunting Jango Fett, not the other way around. Boba Fett hunting Han Solo, not Luke Skywalker.Even most of the nameless Jedi you see in the big battle scenes can defend themselves against a very large army firing at them.
These are just a few examples. I could think of alot more if I really wanted to.
What went wrong in this game?

I don't think so. I had a freakish event where i killed 3 regulars, 4 other jedi, then 2 of the of the same jedi reviving themselves by myself within 5 minutes before i was taken down.

Relax. Take a breathe. I don't play this game to ruin your time, or to make me feel like a better person. I play a game for enjoyment. Now, the role of the jedi was described as i had said, and it sounded amazing. It sounded, like i said, the "Hardcore" of diablo 2. Extreme difficulty, extreme rewards. That's all i want... and judging by almost all of the responses on here, so do a lot of other people. Maybe you should think about your own views. Why shouldn't it be you and your ideas of how it should run that are wrong?
This is the biggest problem that i see with EVERYONE. Noone will ever think that it might be their ownideas or their views that could be wrong, imbalanced, etc, and it must be everyone else who disagrees with them who is the absolute moron for not seeing it their way. That's why i made this post, i wanted to see if i was alone in my thinking, if i was the only one who feels cheated.

I know the feeling. The problem is 99% of players demanded they NOT do what they promised. They wanted Jedi and couldnt handle the original vision so they whined (and continue to do so). So we're gimped now, so the grinders can grind away, and we will stay gimped.

When i came into this game, and was told of jedi, i was PROMISED and GUARANTEED power, and difficulty. I was told that being a jedi would be the hardest thing in the game, like being a "Hardcore character in Diablo". THAT WAS THEIR WORDS. They told us if we died too much, that was it, it's gone. That the grind would be insane. Months it would take, maybe a year. But our rewards would be huge. Noone would withstand us. We'd mow through everything around us. I couldn't WAIT.
Now? Now it's crap. I saw a padawan take 3 weeks to finish template. That's it. Died 3 times to bounty hunters, and lost enough experience each time for 1 hours worth of play time. Are you kidding me? 3 weeks tofinish the alpha class, the best in the game, a JEDI?! And for what, 1.5x a normal profession?
And the worst thing are you people. All you damned idiots on this board SCREAMING for nerfs on other jedi. Why!? How in the world does that help anything at all? Push for major power and higher consequences!! DEMAND THEY DO WHAT THEY PROMISED.
Well look at all the responses here. We had.. what, one person disagree?

Everyone envisioned that as long as they were one of the 4 or 5......
word up. Hey id better be one of those 4 or 5 people that have jedi. Then again everyone else would say that too right? Hate to break it to you all but isnt this game for STAR WARS fans. And i would even say that most STAR WARS fans think that STAR WARS = the force which = Jedi. Call me crazy and i may be wrong but ive been a die hard star wars fans since i saw episode 5 when it first came out when i was like 2 years old and ive wanted to be a jedi ever since. If you want to blaim anyone for the state of jedi blame people like me and the other STAR WARS JEDI fans that play this game. Yup its our fault that everyone wanted to become a jediand i love it.

Just because it's hard doesn't mean everyone can't be a jedi. Everybody can still do it, they just may not all get far. Still no limit, just difficulty. If they fail, they can try again.
