we need perma death back, that was the best idea to ever come into play, its destructive, and it balances at the same time.

So let's do it, let's make a post requesting it back. Hopefully we can make it constructive...

Tanks wrote - Here are my thoughts on this subject.:

IMHO, all the non-PvP Jedi have hurt the profession immensely. They have wanted faster and quicker access to Jedi (the village, and easy experience). They have wanted faster and quicker way of leveling their Jedi (no visibility in groups, and group exp. ease in spin groups). They have wanted the BH missions to be less effective (Move Jedi missions to MBH, no names, and no bounty amount tied to Jedi's level on terminals). They wanted it to be less risky to be a Jedi (no Saber TEF, no skill loss etc.).

I agree that this is one reason for the current state of Jedi, but I do not believe that it is the only reason. There are several other considerations that had a large impact.

1. Non Jedi complaints regarding powerful Jedi and their impact on the GCW.

2. BH complaints about the difficulty of being able to solo a Jedi mark.

3. SOE desired increased access to the Jedi class as a marketing tool.

Which came first, or had the greatest effect is irrelevant.

I agree as well. I never intended to be a Jedi at all when i started almost 2 years ago. I started down the path to Jedi bacause it "was" rare. No i Play my Alt. I only play my Jedi if i really need to.

So many stupid people are still alive because it is illegal to kill them.
Anyone who says, "Trust Me" can not be trusted.
It is not what you are killing but what you are allowing to live.

I feel that we need a pre CU server....I know this subject has been on the boards before, but if we went back to the "Old Days" then I think the whole jedi problem would be fixed. Back in 2003 there were no Jedi, I still remember when the first Jedi came about. Anyway I dont have a problem with the Jedi, just the amount of them.....and the way their acting.

I'm here to a ROCK your stink'n socks off....And make the ladies sing the Blues.

wow,
this is a total eye opener for me. I wanted to be a Jedi in the worst way, but now that i see they're not all they're cracked up to be, and about as common as Dwarf Nuna's outside Tatooine, it really isn't all that appealing anymore....
Now I have no idea what i want to do, heh. Oh well, at least thats one problem taken care of.

I don't know, maybe you could try one of the other THIRTY-FIVE professions in the game?

The very first encounter with Star Wars: Galaxies was back in 2002 when Computer Gaming World ran a concept article on it. My big interest? Becoming a part of the Star Wars Universe between episodes IV and V in a massively-multiplayer community.

So many ways to progress from just some no-name bum to a character known throughout the galaxy. All my friends had different ideas: smuggler, ranger, commando, Teras Kasi, weaponsmith, creature handler, combat medic, etc, etc. I wanted to be a bounty hunter. Sure, the path of the Force was appealing, but we were sure that the journey would be long, arduous, and frought with the danger of constant attacks from assassins and legendary characters such as Darth Vader. To be perfectly honest, I didn't even think about the power a Jedi might have, I was more interested in my assumption that they would be so rare I didn't even have a chance of unlocking one. Hell, at the very least I assumed enlightenment would include participating in player events, success in the Empire or Alliance, helping new players, and not getting in trouble with CSRs... not something as pointless as grinding XP. In that aspect, not even the earliest Jedi lived up to my expectations.

The real shocker for me is that utter lack of attention people have for non-Jedi professions. People look at grinding Jedi as some sort of way to win the game, when this is anything but the truth for a MMORPG. Believe it or not, but there is more content in this game than running a macro on feral wookies, then "pwning noobs" when you're done.

Then again, maybe that's an over-statement of the truth. So much development time has been unjustly focused on Jedi or interaction with Jedi it's ridiculous. I can't help but think of how many different things might have been introduced by now, more than two years since release; Smugglers that smuggled, player-contracted missions and bounties, more in-depth quests, capital ships, player designed weaponry, incentives to role play, a Galatic Civil War that actually meant something. Hell, the poor rangers can't even get a revamp now without people flipping out about what it might mean for force cloak.

Of all the games that have ever been thought of, SWG probably had the most potential. The fact that people can't even wrap their heads around something other than grinding a single class, a mere speck on the back-drop of what this game could have been, is just heart-breaking.

Interesting to see the perspective of the new BH Correspondent. I hope he won't offer too many objections if and when the Devs decide to spend some time on the FRS.
