Thread: -40 Combat Speed Debuff. Does It Need a Nerf? Hard Numbers Inside.
Great job as always Ternque01. Your expertise on the subject is top notch, and your analyisis is spot-on.

/verydeepbowtoArashi Thank you, Arashi. You must know that you are SPECIAL, too. /bow

Anybody know offhand the length of each one of those slows? I'm curious to see how Low Blow compares to the others. If it is less, then I'd say we have solid grounds for asking for an Improved Low Blow (with longer combat speed debuff) in the master box. We are supposed to be the top crowd control profession, after all.
The Combat Medic one lasts around 2 minutes. Ours lasts for 20 seconds, and I think the Pikeman's version is exactly the same as well...

Hmm, so... I don't think a 60-90 second improved Low Blow (Slow Blow more like it) in the master's box is an unreasonable request.

I created a sister thread in many other forums about this information.
I just got done reading a Jedi's post saying that if the debuff cut someone's DPS in half, that it needed to be nerfed.
I think he didn't even READ the results of my testing... results showing that only 26.4% is cut from someone's DPS....
I swear... some people....
I was about to jump in and say how it isn't a 40% reduction (didn't know the exact %) and to stop calling for a nerf..
Then I read your post, very nice job ![]()
Now I can go back trolling your forum to see if I find a post about weapon slicing caps ![]()

Well..halving hits per second, we see that it doesn't do. But halving DPS is possible. With less attacks, misses hurt much more. But still, halving a Jedi's DPS is like halving a loaf of bread - there's still a lot left. I mean, what does he expect? Getting a debilitating buff thrown on him and just shrugging it off? You know, if there were 4 Jedi, I could understand the need for a Jedi to be able to resist/easily get rid of debuffs. But 400+ per server?
Also, our slow lasts 20 seconds? That doesn't sound like a Low Blow. Maybe all the devs are female and/or have never gotten hit in the nuts. Our slow should last for 5 minutes, reduce sexual appeal and ability, and a KD that lasts for atleast2 minutes. Don't even get me started on what a Critical Low Blow should entitle.
I don't think you understand the fundamental concept of Damage Per Second. I've nearly got a physics degree, and I deal with different kinds of units all of the time.
Lemme break it down for you. I'm gonna round 26.4% down to 25% just to make the concept easier.
Let's say that you can hit someone 4 times in 10 seconds for 500 damage a pop.Your DPS would be (4 X 500 damage)/10 seconds = 200 DPS.
If a -40 combat speed debuff were applied to you, you'd have the number of times you hit cut by 25%, which would leave you hitting 3 times in 10 seconds. Your overall damage per second would be (3 X 500 damage)/10 seconds = 150 DPS.
If you compare 150 DPS to 200 DPS, you will see that it is EXACTLY 25% less of a DPS, ergo, a 25% reduction in your attack speed results in a 25% reduction in your DPS.

Both Warcry (the pikeman slow) and Lowblow need to be adjusted. Warcry is currently a cone, and it should be a radius and it should last about 45 seconds. Lowblow needs to last about 90 seconds.

This looks like a huge unbalanced issue to me. 10% decrease in attack speed seems more reasonable.
then itll be as useful as doc buffs, althoughuniformity is their brand of balance.
In PVP isn't the point of a Doc to be the opposite of a CM. (i.e. equal but opposite)
