If they brought back the Wing Commander universe in the same way then I'd definitely play..........I remember playing WIng Commander 1 on my 386 back in 1990......I played it for hours on end.

Yes, I would still play because as far as I know no other MMORPG gives you the freedom that SWG does. In every other game if you don't like the way your template is going its time to create a new char and you cant take advantage of your old char's standing with factions or credits (without a tiresome workaround with guildies if you have a guild). Despite it's flaws this freedom to do what I like when I want to and to go where I want to within the world is what keeps me here and enjoying the game, the fact that it's Star Wars style (important word "style" this ISNT actually Starwars) and I get to wave a glowstick around is just a bonus.

Actually as someone who has made many alternate characters on many other games I disagree with you on this one.

Why do you hear so many old school people from say EQ or DAoC that had a couple level 50s or 60s on these forums? (Well you used to, but most of them are gone for better games.)

Because you can transfer plat or credits or what have you to another character easily, you can transfer items and weapons and you can have that character run around as a "bot" and level them up faster than you would be able to start a completely new character in SWG. In fact no other game requires you to grind as long as SWG has you grind.

Have you ever played EQ and tried to get to level 70? I can grind out a cl 80 on SWG in a week..compared to the months grind to get to that level in Everquest. Not to mention that after you get to Level 11 in Everquest you lose experience everytime you die regardless of your class, as well as some races having an experiance penalty imposed upon them. I played for 6 months and my main character on Everquest has only gotten to level 34..I have a friend on there who before I left to play SWG was level 54, I come back just today after 6 months of being away from EQ and see his level is now only 67, 13 levels gained in the 6 months I was gone...I can get 13 levels in SWG in 5 hours of play.

SWG = Grinding is the game. Every other MMO = Grinding is the "trial" and "Work" to enjoy the game.

Plus you can have multiple characters on the same server without having to grind for months or buy another account. You see why now on SWG you can only have one char per server per account, unless you are Jedi. They saw this as a way to make more money.

For me, SWG is sad because thinking of it makes me sick to my stomach and actually makes me dislike Star Wars as a whole more because I relate the crappy experience that lately is SWG so much to the brand: Star Wars. I don't buy as much Star Wars merchandise that is for sure.

About the only thing that makes me happy is watching the Original Trilogy over again once in awhile.

Eh hard to reply when you reply inside my quote but I am including the Jedi grind. Even after you are done grinding you are supposed to grind FSXP. Even loot is ridiculous, there's no set spawn time there's nothing to camp, there's just endless killing with no drops = grinding still.

Now, are you talking about EQ or EQ2? Because there was no xp loss upon death in Everquest. If you are talking about EQ2, which you must be, I've heard EQ2 is more like a job than even SWG, hence why I am not playing it. (Plus it's by SoE and I'm never playing another SoE game again, which is why I also won't play The Matrix Online.)

And pre-CU this game was very difficult to grind, as someone who did 20+ profesisons I can attest to this.

Post-CU is pretty fast, but this game is the grind in the sense that once you get CL 80 what is left for you to do? Hunt Jedi? (As a BH), do broken quests, grind high level mobs in hope of getting loot although none drops anymore. Do the village? All of those require grinding.

There is nothing similar to questing with your guild to kill an uber mob except at the DWB, but there's no point to questing the DWB because the loot drop rate is 1%.

i would say no for this reason: i only play because of in game friends, and not that much anymore. but i think they only play because of the star wars name, so if they quit i would be gone before my subscription was up.

NO, would haven't even have played the PRE-CU version, it didn't even have a space component at launch. Sci-Fi without space yeah right. I had 3 accounts active now I'm down to one, soon to be none.

Would be playing at least for 1 year, then move on.

What makes me go on is the name Star Wars actually. However, I would not play non-sci-fi mmorpg's anyway.

This is a serious question, how much of this game utterly relies on the Star Wars name and not on actual playability, and content?

I know I wouldn't have stayed this long, and the sad thing is even what little Star Wars feel is left is barely keeping me here since I have nothing to do in game.

"If they brought back the Wing Commander universe in the same way then I'd definitely play..........I remember playing WIng Commander 1 on my 386 back in 1990......I played it for hours on end. "

very gd pt there.

it is because the one who do decsion making behind dev team is someone who has never playMMORPG in their wholelife. they r only business man who try their best to make u pay the monthly fee and do not know why ppl like u and me sit behind the computers over 12 hrs aday/7days a week.

ppl did "WIng Commander 1" sure know what gd game is about cos it is the reason they make the game in the 1st place.

same thing happens to bad movie making: hum... the investor overwrite the movie director's power of making the film the way they wants. oh whatthe rich investorslooking atis that the movie astheir tool to make fast money but gd movie, only crap comes out.

a super upper class like JEDI exists in a MMORPG is already a UNBALANCE content. if u decide to do this content, to me, it should never be balanced.

is jedi in starwars compare with other profession is in a 1.5:1 ratio ??? knon! knon! anybody home??? NO NO NO if this' 1.5:1, this is NOT starwars at all. if u told me it is going be 1.5:1, i would never buy this game.because 1.5:1 IS NOT WHAT I HAD IN MY MIND.

why doi wanna be a jedi? yeah cos it is the koolest thing in my mind and swg should be the only place for me to make my dream come true...so can ido what jedi do...i amnot sayingspinning my glowing stick in the middle of pack of animals all day and nite. i really do not think those poor bols mean any harm to our beloved SWG!

WHAT do jedi do??? light jedi use their force to protect and help others, dark jedi use their force to harm others and do thing can't be done in RL like kills others. is that any of this happening in swg??? why bh get their mission offer by whoever with no name anyone knewbut jedi only get theirxp hunting and crap LS??? i am sure Luke should be doing something behind darkvader and need some of our jedis' help. why am i getting any news from him, the jedi master? this doesn't need to be a monthly content or expansion pack cost me 20US dollar, it can't be just like what bh is doing.

now tell me why UO is still one of the most active MMORPG out there? u think vet players still stays in game? no, none of any of my UO friends is playing it, it is the new player paying the monthly fee now. there is no game last forever in onegamer's mind, u will get bore one day no matter how gd it is, this' just a human thing everyone knows.

then where is the new player come from?

dad: yeah i play this game call UO when i was young, go play it see if u like it son, i will pay the monthly fee for ufor your birthday.

son: but it looks old to me, i rather try this SWG, i wanna be a jedi like doing the right thing for ppl need help...

dad: no no no, it is not gonna be like the movie, there is no fun in the game, u will only feel a waste of your time. if u wanna feel the jedi, play the 1st person "jedi knight academy" on your pc or x-box. and i am not paying SOE money nomore.

i am sure this' what will happen if it comes to SOEbecause your game is NO FUN.

if u have a gd game play, ppl will be told by others to try the game and staying with it. all SOE thinks now ishow to keep the existing player base to stay by double their grinding time cos they think we will not give up our jedi. yes u get it right but pushing it too far do noone good. it just proof SOE knows nothing about gaming and fun.
