We don't know about Meditate yet, but as we understand the devs' early thinking, going into Force Run will break cloak.

I dont know if they understand the more they nerf these small skills that some of us enjoy to use the more they strengthen the FOTM template.

The more appealing a FOTM becomes. Because if you cant get simple stuff done...then why pick up the skill.

And the snare really serves no purpose since its jedi and not ranger or rifleman. We dont grind for friggen 5-6 months to be equivalent to Mundane skills.

I was Mpowers pre CU so I inherited this skill when they removed the Animal control/calm/scare skills.

I have never used it to take a base down

I have never used the able to attack while cloaked bug.

I have never used it to loot in the Vette, DWB, or to get to NK.

I have never used it to agro mobs and clear a path for my group.

I have never used it to load kill another player.

I have never used it to cause an unsuspecting Jedi player visibility.

I have used it in almost every PVP encounter to heal and regen my force.

When the CU hit we were all told that Powers would be a viable alternative to Sabers with the role of a mid ranged damage dealer and I have stuck it out waiting for this to happen.

I expect a revamp of all of the things that are preventing Powers from fulfilling their previously stated role. If their stated vision of our role has changed I would like to know this as well so that I may decide if the new role suits my playstyle or not.

Will the snare apply whether or not combat is active?

Will a cloaked Jedi receive AOE damage?

What does "Alpha Strike" really mean? Does this imply Master Powers will get a boost to damage output or a reduction in Force Cost and/or Action Cost?

Who would a Powers user be initiating a first strike against? Certainly not a Bounty Hunter, as they get the first strike by default. Does this imply the FRS is on the horizon and will involve Jedi-vs-Jedi Pvp?

Sorry. I'm just confused. I agree the terminal/looting exploits MUST be fixed ASAP, but the snare seems excessive to me.

Very well said. Nerfs are a big problem. The Devs knowlegde of star wars is a big problem. But the biggest problem is the lack of communication between the player base and the Devs. The need to let us know what is going on in this game because in a sense we are kind of like stock holders in this game.

I am a Master Powers Jedi, I have cloak, I dont really use it as anything more than a "I need to go afk for a second" tool. This cloak nerf really does not effect me that much. I speak out so strongly against it for principle. This nerf represents everything that is wrong with this game and this player base. The "nerf everything that I dont have" mentality has got to go. Everyone had the opprotunity to get cloak. If it were that game breaking everyone would have it. Cloak is not even close to the same power level as Aura, but not too many people complain about arua, why? Because the majority of the player base has it! Why would people call for nerfs on something they have. I know the value of Aura, that is the only tree in Def that I have.

So someone gets a little extra loot, so what. I know it is not the spawning of the SBD, I have hardly ever seen anyone at the DWB since CU and we do guild events there all the time. It is all about greed.

Basically what it comes down to is I love this game. Through all of the heartache the devs put us all through, it is still the only Star Wars MMORPG out there. And we, the players are doing more to hurt the game than the devs with all of our crying. I hope that this is the end of the nerfs, but is it does leak into the defender trees, lightsaber trees, or the enhancer trees, you will all know how the powers jedi feel. But honestly, I can not say that I will shed a tear for you because what goes around comes around. That is the way of Karma.

Blame the Jedi who abused it.

No blame the cry babies that want to nerf anything that they dont have.

I agree that you should not be able to loot containers and I agree that you should be unable to assist others and not be able to aggro mobs. But the snare and the not being able to heal myseld and channel is just stupid. I hope they get aura and power strike next.

No, blame the Jedi that abused it. I'm not sure what's up with the snare, myself.

You include yourself in those "cry babies that want to nerf anything that they dont have" when you said "I hope they get aura and power strike next". You are part of the problem.

antares

wrong, I have both of those skills, I am not asking for nerfs, I just stated that it will be funny when they come, and they will come. Karma gota love it.

Here are some rules common to all types of buffs that remove you from sight (including Force Cloak):

1. Taking any offensive action reveals you instantly (currently the only exception is the Rifleman's ability Conceal Shot).

2. Interacting with some objects in the world instantly reveals you (could be switches, terminals, containers, etc)

3. Some commands cannot be executed and require you to reveal yourself before executing the command

4. All of these buffs can be "toggled off" at any time you wish to become view-able by others

5. Some non-combat actions can also reveal you (like healing for instance)

6. You are afflicted with a movement snare when you are stealthy (rooted when just camouflaged)

what i put in yellow is just unbelievable.

Let me see if I understand this. Rifleman with no force powers can disappear and attack while invisible, but a jedi who is one with the force (Special Powers) and has a skill that says he will be invisible cannot do anything but use the john while cloaked or he will immediately become visible.

who thinks of this?

If I can't move then cloak is useless. THe only thing it will be used for is to logout. SOE wants you to logout. Stop playing and logout. Did I say play I meant ot say paying.

1. Offensive actions consist of anything other than a heal, channel or protections (shield, armor, feedback, absorb, AI, resists, etc). So dont press your saber attacks or force drains while under cloak.
2. Using cloak to stop base takedowns will be stopped with this fix.
3. Still waiting on a list from the Devs.
4. Seems that they are making the "stealth" or cloak a toggle if it is already not that way.
5. My first impression of this is that we will not be able to heal at all. Ive been asking the Devs if this included healing ourselves or just healing others.
6. A snare is being added just like it was to AI so that Cloak is nolonger and escapse tool. The Devs first classified it to be a tool for "First Strike" ability on implementation.

i find it interesting that the devs constantly make MPowers the worst template to have, when it's a dark jedi's "MAIN" template in our rankings...

I'm specifically thinking about the offensive versus defensive arguments in a couple of other threads. Many powers users I know usecloak as a defensive ability to *get away* from combat and recuperate. This is a completely legitimate use of an ability that takes you out of combat. To me, the new changes will do just that: remove the user from combat completely. I don't like the fact that a few people are using a few obscure dev quotes, without links to the original sources mind you (!!), to stir up the pot on this system change to the game's stealth invisibility rules.

I agree totally that the exploiting needs to stop and these changes will hopefully fix the worst ones. But I think the community needs more clear information instead of all the rumormongering going on right now.

I can speak for the Devs on this and tell you all that their vision of it was always a First/Alpha Strike tool. It was never ment to be a tool for escape and evasion. So again the Devs vision of Force Cloak is that it is a First/Alpha Strike tool.

I don't use cloak, but I do have a vested interest in the way this is being handled.

It may have always been their vision for cloakto bea 1st strike tool, but it is also a great escape and evasion tool.

This is the same pattern all the time. Release it to live, let it become entrenched in people's play style, nownerf it and then say it's 'working as intended'.

Why not release it to beta, see the flaw, nerf it and then release it to live.

This way younever have to nerf it and say it's 'working as intended' and never have people complain about the nerf.

Unrealistic? Maybe. But if this was done half the time, that would be that many less complaints.

Will the real'working as intended'Special please stand up? I ask that because it's never clearly known, until it's nerfed, what 'working as intended' is.

This is lame. I am not a "first striker". I don't even frickin' PVP with my Jedi. I play a dabbler template for FUN, something that is hard to come by in this game lately for me as a veteran player.

My entire Jedi template is revolved around using cloak as an ESCAPE and EVASION tactic. I have been having so much fun with my template. Now SOE comes along and decides "Oh we didn't mean it for that." The defense/offense I gave up for this template leaves me weak as hell with my crappy post CU saber. I could never go toe to toe with a BH and why should I have to? I DON'T WANT to have to be like every other jedi out there with MLS/MDEF. Why are punishing us for the IDIOTS that abuse it? Just fix all the damn bugs and exploits revolved around cloak! Why do you have to always take the easy out approach SOE? I really hope you consider the negative effect this change will have on the Jedi profession. We are gonna have a bunch of FOTM clones running around again.

I agree with some of the new rules proposed but a SNARE? Come f'ing on. SOE, you are dumb if you can't see how a snare on cloak wouldn't cause even more issues. If you fix all the bugs and the ways BH's can exploit on cloakers, then maybe we can talk.

Well they made the majority of people's gaming experience that much better! No more cloaked base shutdowns! Thank God. I also hope this fixes the exploit where some Jedi were able to attack people cloaked and stay cloaked while doing it. In my opinion cloak should work exactly like camo or cover where if your enemy gets close to you you are revealed.

Those were bugs which were exploited by some people, i.e. unintended. It doesn't justify in the least the fact that this discipline will be rendered completely useless by adding a snare to its only useful and FUN ability. The devs already started on the wrong path a long time ago... The FUN factor has been left out, they probably never thought that maybe giving the players an ability to counter an alledged overpowered ability is more attractive than taking away from what players have come to like and get used to. Especially when it comes to powers, which issuch a waste of skill-points right now, most of the rants against it are something like "hey I can't up my pvp rating b/c he got away".
