Thread: A BH asking Jedi if this is an exploit
People duel in PVP to break out of stasis or to hit cloakers, but I don't think a dev has come out and said dueling while in a fight is unintended.
I do not disagree with you at all. No dev has said this is intended or unintended so the only way to find out if it is acceptable is to ask our peers. Rules and laws are made when our peers are in agreement and it seems that this tactic is not acceptable to most.

we can make assumptions, but the devs are the one that define the game boundaries of what is legal and illegal.
It really seems cheap but, I did not have any part of coding the boundaries so i don't know if it's intended or a game bug or a failure in logic..

It's gots to be a sploit! lol
Seriously now tho, losing exp is very annoying and I can sympathize with the jedi who had his friend db him. You have the choice when to attack the Jedi and how the battle starts and that suprise advantage can be very deadly if used correctly. AKA waiting until he is tanking a lair or in the middle of the fight and then gank him. This tactic has worked very effectively against myself by a few FOTM MBH/MCM's
... I really do get tired of all the exploit talks here just cuz someone figured a new tactic to the game...
In the revolutionary war was it an exploit for the Americans to shoot the British officers first?? Under the SWG forum the Americans woulda been flamed lol

there's one flaw aboutthe no other players can interfere once a bh engages you, have you ever been overt and had a bh attack you while your still being attack by other overts. Technically they are helping him, at the same time your friends could be helping you take out the bh.
I remember when you could start helping a BH on his mission by just healing him, or healing to get overt status. They changed that because it was cheap, and people were exploiting it to gain an unfair advantage over others. This is a broken game mechanic, and those who exploit it's lack of functionality are exploiters, by the definition of the word. I'm not labeling or judging them, just saying that if you take certain actions then you fall into that category.
I have many friends who exploit all kinds of things, and I don't necessarily think less of them for it. But they know they're breaking the rules. To exploit an unintended feature and say that you are not exploiting it is lying. That's the reason why I posted. Justifying 1 exploit with another doesn't prove that this is not an exploit.

whether its a db from a mob, animal, bh, or friend, its all legal. you wouldnt report a picket for dbing a mark, how can u report a mate?
I think any time you die with a combat TEF with a BH it should count as a successful completion of his mission. My position is fairly straightforward. If you get attacked by a BH and you die you lose. If you don't die you win. Simple. If you don't want to fight I support the right to run. You don't owe any BH a fight, its your right to use everything in your power to avoid fighting him, but if you fight and you die it should count as a successful mission for him.
I had a Jedi suicide into Kimos because he was about to die to me. That's the type of thing that some Jedi will pull though. ![]()
another idea...
Run inside a krayt ancient they insta db
or if you a cloaker use area on krayts cloak && run near the bh the ancient use area hits on you & also on the bh but as cloak you get no damage
Then just db the bh. Hav try this yesterday on captin- ...was fun & works well
i think that isnt an exploit but a use of the environnement considering your skills... & animal control miss me too much too

abbink: I respectfully disagree. The rules of visibility are well known. If you are a jedi and you go around looking like a jedi you will eventually be givin visibility and attacked by a bounty hunter.
If you go off in the middle of nowhere and never have your saber or robes on when you get more missions, you will stand very little chance of ever getting attacked by a BH.
If you should get attacked by a BH, there are jedi skills which will allow you to escape. Namely forcerun and forecloak. There are options for getting away if you want. It's not as forced as some people say. But if you choose to walkl to the path of the jedi, then you must face great peril with courage. Complaint is not courageous, and not being a jedi is not perilous. If you don't like peril or courage, why would you chose a profession geared towards people who DO like these things?
Isn't there some UK term for fitting square pegs in round holes?
See but that just raises another question. Would it be considered greifing for a player to intentionally give someone visibility by swooping in and out of the 32m radius that is the visibility safe zone just to get said jedi on the terminals when he is trying to avoid pvp? And if said player is of the opposing faction then the jedi then all it will take is once for him to do that and the player is on the terminals. No way to try and avoid that. Greifing other players intentionally is also against the rules. Where does it stop? As i said as long as certain things remain the way they are we will continue to see "honorable" "dishonorable" players using "good tactics" "cheep tactics" while they call each other "noobs". Every time anyone brings up a senario that they feel is a problem this is what happens it becomes a flame fest. There is too much strife, contention, and hate regarding this subject. Jedi are too powerfull, jedi arent powerful enough, bh have too much of an advantage, bh dont have enough of an advantage. Its quit funny how ridiculous it can get on these forums. Gives me a chucle any way and something to read at work
thats what happens when youre the boss... you can get away with doing that...lol But in all seriousness and ive raised this question before. When a member of the opposing facion drives by within that safe zone radius does you vis go to max and your name auto appear on the terminal. Keep in mind that the radars even pushed out past 250m dont always update untill the dot is right up on you. For those thay try hard to avoid vis what happens then? That aint right either. Well true point of this whole subject between jedi and bh pvp is this. As long as two groups of players are pitted against each other and no matter what changes SOE implament, players, being as ingenous as they are, will always find loop holes in the system and exploit it to no end. There is no stopping it.
What's really boggling is that this problem has been going on for quite a while, and in my mind all it would take is a simple fix:
- Disallow the /duel command on a target with a BH TEF raised. There's absolutely no valid reason for a Jedi to accept a duel request while dealing with a BH. -AND-
- Either disallow the /deathblow command from anyone other than the Jedi and the BH -- to each other -- while there's a BH TEF in place. -OR-
- The system drops any outstanding duels in place for the BH or the Jedi once a BH TEF is raised.
#1 solves the problem of the chickenshyte "tactic" of a friend initiating a duel after the BH attacks, with finger poised over a hotkeyed DB command.
With #1 in place, either #2or #3solve the problem of the Jedi friend doing a DB, even if they already had a duel going.
I don't think it is an exploit per-say more just really bad form on the Jedi part
As example I was fighting a Giant Krayt last night a BH ( who in his Bio is only a Master Marksman so I didn't pay him any mind) attacks me while fighting I am incapped and slain by the krayt he doesn't get paid and I don't loose xp I tell him to come to the Cloner and he can try and collect.
He actually shows up still with my mission, he then starts talking trash. I decide to walk away and go back to were I was hunting he follows and begins eating foods. I press my hotkey to activate all my foods and skills he fires and dies in less then 1 min.
Is this an exploit as well?? nope
did the BH show bad form ehh He's scum they all are
there BH's
but I did tell him to come back and hunt me more I didn't like his saying I was an easy kill when he did 79 pt damage to me as the krayt killed me
and yes I have seen this used before in a group were someone will duel and wait and db the jedi so the xp is not lost. I think it is wrong but it will always be there you can't remove it from the game.
otherwise see my above example the Krayt the krayt combat would also be locked out of the tef so basicly if a BH fires at a jedi then the jedi can't take damage or heals or combat from anything except the BH and vice versa... now as a BH do you really want that? that means no more droid exploits no more ganking while grinding , no more trying to pull the arrgo onto your mark. somethings just happen and can only be handled with peer presure .
if you fight a jedi and he has a buddy DB him , shrug your shoulders and thank him and move on. remember though the missionis still valid until either he DB's you or you db him or 3 days go by or you drop it
