Thread: A BH asking Jedi if this is an exploit

I posted a similiar message in BH forum but I would like to know what the opinions of all jedi are:
I tracked my jedi mark and found him hanging out on his speeder. I attacked and missed his speeder which got me a tell from jedi stating "Lol, you noob". Asked him to check /getvet to see who noob is, well anyways, on to what I really want to know. I started to gain the upper hand and had him almost dead when all of a sudden the jedi has a friend walk up next to him. Next thing I know I see the jedi is a corpse. I didnt do the DB.
I told the jedi he used an exploit to get away from me, he responds " this isnt an exploit having a friend db and it wasnt a fair fight anyways because I had no force". Force or no force thats not my problem but having a friend db to avoid a BH db, is this an exploit? or as intended? is this reportable? just curious. Ask many jedi, I am an honourable BH that plays fairly and so I expect the same.
Exploit. The Definition of Exploit is to use a game mechanic in a way other than intended for the benefit of the player doing it.
Some would argue that it is good tactics, but good tactics use the game mechanics as they were intended to be used.
However, Getting a CSR to do anything about it is pointless because 99 times out of 100, they won't do a thing about it.
The majority of Jedi do not understand what an exploit is. Thats why the majority of responses you get here will be that this is not an exploit. Jedi only view it an exploit once the exploit is fixed and view any unintended workarounds to game mechanics as a tactic.

The only exception is for Special Forces, they are always attackable by opposing faction SF.

You call him a n00b, yet your the one who needs to be killed by a friend because you cant beat a BH. OH and yea id say it is a "exploit", if you bother reading posts, it was stated a jedi vs BH fight is 1 on 1, no-one else is allowed to interfere, which means no healing, helping or KILLING.
Read what you said about him then read the highlighted, yea exactly.

One BH tactic is to attack a SF Jedi, and lead him into a cloaked SF Jedi who then can help him kill the Jedi for the bounty. I've seen this happen in Theed on Bloodfin.
I see zero difference, nor anything wrong with this and the duel/DB tactic.
i agree with this guy. I wouldn't do it personally, but its a valid tactic IMO...

It isn't an exploit, at least I don't think it is, unless you start from the assumption that a Jedi player is OBLIGATED to provide content/reward to a BH player, which I don't see anywhere in the SOE TOS. More about this later.
Is it cheezy? Yes it is, for a full template to do it. I don't, I ALWAYS fight, and put up a damn tough one. But I did use it a time or two back when I was grinding in the post-CU groups-give-vis so you had no choice but be on the terms 15 minutes after the trials era.
But as a way out for a lowby Padawan who got vis from grinding because of noob flybys and an unlucky Kunga spawn, I see it as a legitimate tactic.
Now, back to us providing content to a BH. The way I see it, if a Jedi player chooses to duel a friend and lose, that is his own business. He's not obligated to lose to you or wait and take your DB. There isn't a thing in the TOS that prohibits one from engaging in two PvP battles simultaniously. Yes, that is kinda being rules-lawyerish, but until SOE amends their TOS to specifically prohibit this, any action taken against a player for using this tactic would NOT BE SUPPORTED by SOE's own published rules, and they know it.

Aye, thats pretty funny IMO.
utill then it's all opinion.
Crash,
I appreciate the response but this post was not intended to start another flame war against jedi and BH's. If the majority of jedi think it isnt an exploit I would live with it and try to find ways to not let it happen. As I have said in the past, most and I mean 95%+ of jedi's i have fought are very honourable, they play the game as intended, and will commend you on a good fair fight whether they lost or not.
My experiences last night after 6 hours BH'ing:
1. Fought a pre-CU jedi, got my butt handed to me very quickly. Said jedi commended me on trying and apologized to me for his friends doing /spit on me.
2. Fought a jedi and won, got a tell later saying he was afk. I totally apologized to him as he didnt have an afk tag up, the jedi said no worries and bank tipped me 1 million dollars as I told him the BH thing was temporary cause I need cash as I unlock jedi in phase2. He also offered to go out hunting with Krayts with me.
3. Fought another jedi and won, after tracking him for ages. Didnt attack him at my first chance because he was driving his AV-21. I will not destroy an AV-21. He sent tell saying great fight. The pre-CU jedi listed in number one happened to be there and said "my friend thanks you for not destroying his AV-21
4. Tracked another jedi, I recognized him from way back as he helped me once before. I dropped his mission and we had a lengthy friendly duel.
I am not sure why I feel it necessary to defend myself, BH's and jedi's but most I come across are decent players with honour. I have no ego, nor any care to associate with shadey types of players.
Trajen, I never expect any jedi to stand and fight me. I know if I was a jedi I'd run my arse as fast as possible away from a BH. With that said, my unlock is phase 2 so expect to see me running all the time. I think a jedi should use all tactics availabe, all tactics that are intended to be available with the emphasis on INTENDED tactics.

Play your character how you choose, its my 15 bucks a month so I will play as I see fit. The minute the devs or tiggs post that its an exploit I will stop but until then your opinion is well.....your opinion.
You chose to play a jedi. Does a jedi ask his friend to cut off his head when he's about to die? No, they would run, or they would stay and die, fighting to the bitter end. And this quote.....you're either a lawyer or a very young person to have this kind of opinion. It's like saying "but mom you didn't TELL me not cheat in that 1 specific way"
This can be labeled an exploit as it goes against the spirit of the changes made to the BH/Jedi dynamic. When a BH attacks a jedi, all other PLAYERs are prevented from helping either person (this does NOT include the environment, which can be used strategically). This is just using a loophole in the game mechanics to get around the spirit of the rules. It's not a 3rd party program, but it is classified as an exploit.
Of course, proving that someone used it would be almost impossible, and what penalty if any it deserves I'm not sure about. The most you can hope for is that his friends start calling with a "wussy noob" or whatever ties his emotional panties in a knot for not having the juevos to accept the consequences of his actions.
And just so I know, what do you call a used-to-be great BH who had to chicken/cheeze his way out of losing a legitimate duel with a "noob" BH? Get back to me on that one.

People duel in PVP to break out of stasis or to hit cloakers, but I don't think a dev has come out and said dueling while in a fight is unintended.
there's one flaw aboutthe no other players can interfere once a bh engages you, have you ever been overt and had a bh attack you while your still being attack by other overts. Technically they are helping him, at the same time your friends could be helping you take out the bh.
