Thread: Suggestion for Pearl/Crystal Fix.
The melted crystals/pearls fill the lightsaber so you can add up to four crystals/pearls and the melted liquid must be colored.
That would be cool! Pre-9 thing.

Jedi A tunes crystal. It sucks as usual. Gives it Jedi B.
Jedi B tunes it, it also sucks, gives it back to Jedi A.
Repeat until perfect tune is achieved.
This could result in everyone having perfect sabers very quickly.
Agreed. Maybe they could make it so each person can only tune it once. So, person A tunes it and gets crap...gives it to person B. Person B tunes it and gets crap. Gives it back to person A but person A is not allowed to tune it because they already have once.
That would allow one crystal to rotate through the whole population but never done by the same person twice. This would allow many people to get the chance for a perfect tune but there wouldn't be as much cheating. Sure, eventually everyone could have a perfect crystal but it would take MUCH longer.

I don't think being able to loot "premium" qlty crystals and pearls from level 71-90 mobs would be good for the game. we should have to work for something no?

Suggestion for Pearl/Crystal Fix.
I recieved a PM today from a community member asking me to address his suggestion. His suggestion was this.
"With the current situation of pearl drops as they are, which is very unbalancing for the game, and the devs seems to have problems fixing it, would it not be an idea to suggest to them to remove the "jedi specific requirement" on already tuned pearls and crystals. As we all know older most older jedi have a stock of tuned pearls they dont use because they have slighty better ones in their saber ADK'ed. this will create a new market and allow older jedi to give to new jedi in their guild, or sell them if they wish."
With that said. I am also aware that this has been dicussed in the past. What I told him was maybe a re-tune option instead of just taking away names (BioLink) from current tunes. I know there are some of us older Jedi that have plenty of extras (in some cases bags of 50) but would it be fair to allow us to sell them for Millions of credits?
/Discuss
Edit:
I guess what I am wondering is would people be ok with this if proposed to the Devs? A re-tune option.

It would be better then the system is now. However, I, a pre-cu unlocked jedi finished my template not so long ago don' t have a large bunch of old crystals in my inventory. Also what use is retuning the 80% of my poor quality crystals?
I don' t have a lot of money. Looting the crystals from Krayts gave me my own solution to the -> insane <- crystal prices.
Plus, I' m not a member of a large jedi guild. The only other jedi in my guild has the same crystal problem.
Allowing veteran jedi to pass on or sell their crystals will make sure that I will still keep my crappy saber as I can not buy them and/or recieve them as I am not a member of a large guild.
My suggestion:
- Get rid of the different types of quality a saber can have. make them all premiums. I won' t say it' s the perfect solution, nor is it fair for the onces who had to work very hard to get their bunch of uber pearls. I have to step up here for the guys that are in small guilds and this is the best solutionj to me at the moment.
I think it would be great for the economy.
with the influx of premiums ....... no more insane prices.
My saber isat least over 650 damage.
The only reason i think people would want to keep premiums rare is so that people can loot them and turn a profit.
IMO theyshould do that with all the loot. maybe then we would have more crafters.
The best money making proff is looter,
Lol, did anything today give you that impression? I sure don't think so. They do need to do something to make it work right w/o flooding the market.
First Tune comes out 40dmg, -.1 spd, -3fc.
most people consider that crap and worthless. My "retune" suggestion was pretty simple, The jedi basically had the option of "retuning" the pearl/crystal. However there has to be some penalty for doing this or basically you could tune infinately until you get a perfect tune. So basically each retune would take off so much condition on the pearl/crystal.
So if the original condition was 1000/1000 then after the first retune it might go down to 900/900 condition. This idea was before ADK were available. This would have allowed us to retune the crappy pearl in the hopes of getting something worth grinding with.
Even with ADKs now, i still think this is a viable option. I realise its simple, but sometimes the simplest ideas are the best ones lol.
oh yeah, and why not make the elemental dmg of other colors mean something...or is teal and red the only colors that seem to have "balance"
am beginning to think the devs or whoever is in charge of it have no stinkin clue what the word balance means
balance was not defense stackers pre cu
balance is not medic stackers post cu
just for two quick examples
Nooooooooooo
Better pearls/crystals is the only thing the vet Jedi that actually earned their characters have over the new Jedi that have been practically given Jedi/full templates on a silver platter. Why must everything revolve around making things easier for new Jedi, might as well make Jedi a new starter prof.
I guess what I am wondering is would people be ok with this if proposed to the Devs? A re-tune option. "
The tunes of fair crystals are some times better then prem or flawless so that will not work unless they fix the crystal bug it self.

Spare me, I have been in all of this messsince beta, Telling me this class has gotton easy is almost a joke--.. I know what is bad and good. I also know enough about Star Wars... I'm willing to bet you were not even born when the First Movie was released.. on top of that, I did not like the FRS or the way it was farmed, I did like the way however it weeded out alot of people afraid to play the class as it was intended (hence the overtness) So with that said...- You say be more "Jedi like", then I say to you go back and grind about a year or so to get your Jedi like feel and not the 3 weeks to 4 max it takes now...take the time to learn the prof and PLAN better vs hurry up and wait mode.
Eh? You obviously do not even bother to research people before you post about them do you? I've been a Jedi longer than you have, and have grinded Jedi characters in each "era" of Jedi. I think I know more than most on the profession that is for sure. Do not deny the fact that this profession has been easier to obtain since it's conception, or grind for that matter.
And how can you say with a straight face that you did not like the FRS, yet you liked overt nature of it? That was the FRS! There wasn't anything else to it.
Now then, if you think that sabers were not made from a Pearl and or had Crystal in them , I'm sorry (sure the amount is somewhat a goofy thing) but you have to remember it's a game... with all that you said above you might as well just say one guy can make all the sabers and then hand you a uber one right in the game. I mean since its all Star Warsy... lets just do that, go to a NPC he hands you a Saber pre made doing 800 damage... Kinda like how Ben just handed Luke , Darths..I mean lets just get real Star Warsy..
I guess you really like the fact that you might have a much more powerful than the influx of Jedi on your server now? I know I don't. Everytime I fight some post CU Jedi I feel bad, as they cannot match my damage output whatsoever. Heck even quite a nice chunk of pre CU lightsabers don't match up, since quite a bit of those guys didn't get to farm Krayts for months on end since they were still grinding. I don't think that is fair quite honestly, and the CU was put in place to prevent that kind of thing.
Why the Hell other then some basic skills (Trials)do I even have to make one... some people just got them handed or thrown to them like a ball or a common weapon.
If You think we have not progressed then I'm sorry for that as well, we have come a long way that is for sure, 4 revamps and now this--- can't say its been all perfect but crap , dont feed me that jive, not this late in the game man... it won't float.
Eh? I never said we haven't progressed. Perhaps you mistook "forward thinking" in regards to this lightsaber problem as the profession not progressing. This lightsaber problem has always been a problem. They removed pearls from the crafting process and made them swappable in a container. Sorry that's not quite forward thinking. I know you've been around these boards for a while and if you remember correctly, our #1 issue back then was the use of pearls/crystals in our lightsabers and cost of getting them and maintaining them. My oh my, where we would be without ADKs. I wonder if your feelings on the matter would have changed then?
Sure we all want a easy way, as I can see- but at the same time there is somthing to be said for some good ole fasion reward for effort at the same time even in a game. You say "Jedi like" and I almost want to cringe.... I mean crap man if we are going to go down that road you better clear out about 50 threads... because this is no where near what it could be or should.... we have left THAT notion a LONG LONG time ago. (Hence the 50000 of us right now).... I mean that was funny.
Sorry, but you're thinking in a timeline this game is loosely based off of. And as far as the "reward" for Jedi, how does hunting for components required by your lightsaber for endless amounts of hours translate to a reward? I guess my ideas of rewards are much different than yours.
**Disclaimer**My suggestions aren'ta quick fix to the existing problem. Other problems need to be addressed before my suggestionsare even considered (i.e.smugglers smuggling).
One thing I truly enjoyed when I first began playing this game was the resource hunting "game within a game." I think it would be betterif Jedi could craft a bio-linked crystal surveying tool and find their own crystals. Clearly the resources would have to shift quite frequently or you would have a camp fest, but I think it could work. I think you would have to put in a time sink that allowed you to extract one crystal a week (or something the devs felt was more suitable) to help reduce the number of crystals harvested. The surveying tool could show you the natureof the crystal (colored or power)deposits and you could choose to harvest at that time. I also think that only one crystal should be required for any generation saber and it should be removable. Higher level sabers should requirerare resources to complete andthequality of the crystal required should also increase.
Toadd a little Star Wars flavor to lightsaber construction, Dark Jedi Knights should be able to craft their own red crystals usingbio-linked tools they create. I guess I'm old school. Dark Jedi Knights and aboveshould be allowed to use other colored crystals, but there should be an incentive for them to use the classic synthetic red crystals. For fun, these crystal crafting tools could be created using loot dropped from high enddark jedi mobs. I like the idea of Dark Jedi murdering each other touncover these mysterious artifacts. Conversely, Light Jedi Knightscould receive equal rare enhancements to their crystalsupon defeatingdark jedi NPCs and/or completing"diplomatic"orother suitable high level jedi missions. Making the outcome (with regards to frequency and power of the crystal upgrade)as equal as possible whileadding content and flavor to thegame is crucial. I think itwould bemore realistic (based on EU materials)if lightsabersrequired powercells. This would be a hassle, butit would giveartisanssomething else to craft.
Personally,I would like to see krayt pearls go away. However, I fear the outcry would bedeafening given the amountof credits investedin their procurement. If would probably help the game in the long run, but I'm not sure if SOE could withstand the backlash. Before youflame me,I am one of the suckers who purchased a 5 million credit pearl prior tothe implementation of "tuning." Ihave older pearls and would suffer like many of you, but the loot stealing andsquabling over krayt "rights" on Bria rightnow is sickening. There has to be a better way.
