Thread: Why no one uses Powers
My jedi is a master force weilder. Personally, I think dabbling in powers(yes, this means cloak) is useless and makes you weaker. Perhaps the cloakers without master need to hide?
Powers is my only mastery and I've beaten master defender/MLS and any other template one on one. Cloak is by far not the best or only skill in the discipline worth investing in. True, it's not an easy thing to play, but that's what's appealing. I really shine in group pvp, and have beaten the vast majority of MBH/CMs that come my way. And hey, if I can't beat them, I vanish.

ROFL. Guess you didn't read the thread huh?
Master powers / enhancer here. I love my skillset, it is effective in any situation (although maybe less so in some 1v1 duels). I love not having to bother with using a lightsaber. The trick with it is you have to treat it as a ranged profession - when fighting lightsaber jedi's you have to root them and stay out of range so all they can do is saber hit. Use cloak and the terain to your advantage, and basically be a sneaky SOB.
Oh and if you really want to flay the BH'ers master powers / master enhancer is the temp for you. If your first KD/choke/lightning/mindblast routine doesnt destroy them, root and choke / cloak until the blue bar goes away, then KD/sap/choke/lightning to finish em off.
I'll just have to see how things roll in the new FRS - there are a gajillion better PVP'ers than me out there.
I am Mpowers as well
As far as going aganst ANY BH. Powers pwns them. Only thing you realy have to do is keep choke going, and you will win as long as you keep your self healed. My ave. on BH fights is about 3 min, and I always win. Only once I had to run and cloak, but that was right after a PvP battle and my force was low. I came out of cloak once I had channeled force back up, and won in about 2 min.
As far as against other Jedi. Make sure you practice alot with your temp first and get good with it. It is not like MLS, where you can pretty much go in and start doing dmg. With Powers you have to know every inch of your temp because it will take all your skills to win. But once you have learned your temp, you will be a great PvP person against other Jedi.
Powers is a stratagey profession, while MLS is a hack and slash one.
One thing I will ask the other Mpowers as I am a full believer in you can always learn something new, no mater how long you have been playing with your temp. Why have the tech line in sabers? I understand the fist one for the faster KD ( I have that ) but I just do not see a big reason for saber trow as I am ranged as it is. I prefer haven 3xx2 enhanc. instead of being able to saber throw ( I know it is a lot to do with the way you play, just wordering if I missed sometrhing with saber throw since they took out the KD on it unless you are a MLS )
I dont have it myself, but i could imagine that it would be very nice to alternate between lightning choke and weaken, cause besides that we really dont have any high dmg attacks so having saber throw would make our dps alot better at a distance

Once again, it frustrates me to see people becoming jedi that no nothing of the profession...============================================================================Are you really this ignorant ?? I'll pretend u didn't say this. How do u expect people to learn about a profession that you can learn about until you unlock it and see and try things out for yourself. You are just another one of those players who has a jedi and thinks that no one esle should have one.
Actually, he has a point. As BH you should know what your opponents can do and what they cant do - otherwise I have problems understanding how you manage to kill Jedi.
About Powers: Powers is devastating for non-Jedi. You can either heal a lot, or youre dead. Choke is a huge DoT, and a Master Force Wielder can put states on you its not funny. Furthermore, they can drop out of Cloak, inflict heavy damage, and disappear before you knew what happened.
Powers is also a great skillset in group PvP - knock down 20 opponents at the same time, intimidate them with one single move, and then use area lightning on them.
However, powers cannot deal as much damage as a Lightsaber Master with a good saber 1 vs 1. Powers also has heavy counters in the other Jedi disciplines:
- Improved Force Aura (Def xx4x): +500 to Force Defense. Powers has a low accuracy (dont expect to hit a lot until you have Master), and a fairly wide damage range between min and max damage, so the accuracy / defense ratio will lower the damage by a lot.
- Improved Force Feedback (Enh x3xx): Dont try Powers attacks as long as this is on your target - the damage you inflict will also be reflected and you will take about the same amount of damage from your own attack.
- Improved Force Shield (Enh xxx4): Mitigates damage caused by Force attacks
- Force Absorb (Enh 0000): Recharges your targets Force Pool from the attacks you are using.
Because of all this, a Master Force Wielder will have to use Force Breach a lot in 1 vs 1 PvP to try to get rid of all those defensive buffs.
Moreover, most Powers attacks have a warmup timer (so no moving while attacking) and are Force intensive - a well crafted lightsaber uses less Force per damage dealt.

I am a soon to be new jedi. Now in the whole aspect of "star wars", it really amazes me to see that maybe 1% of the jedi population uses the Powers tree. And I have not yet met anyone that was a Master Powers Jedi. Why is it that hardly any jedi uses powers? What do the 4 trees consist of?
Also, wasn't there a thread that showed images of all the jedi trees? I would like ot see all the jedi tress and skills to look over, if anyone remembers that link at all. Thanks
Master Powers Isnt for everyone

let me add this little tid bit... i was in a grind group of jedi.. i just got the xp to train and asked if anyone had powers to train me. the reply i got was:
No one in this group uses the P***Y A** s**t... ok so what kind of answer was that.. so i just told him poeple that dont follow the FOTM.. he never said another word. and others in the group praised me for not being like 99% of the other jedi.. unfourtunatley everytime i want to train in a powers box i have to high tail it outa there and go to my trainer.. but its all good. i just am hoping mpowers and 0404 sabers is sufficient enough to have fun. any thoughts?
I fought a Defender yesterday (wasn't even MDef) in a duel and as soon as he activated Force Feedback I was doing more damage to myself with my own attacks than I was to him. I ended up having to try and Breach him several times to take it off (after which he'd just put it on again, for a fraction of the cost my Breach took - assuming it even removed Feedback to begin with, or indeed anything at all).
Put simply - Force Feedback renders the Powers attacks that matter (lightning, choke, etc) completely ineffectual. It's the equivalent of having Iron Maiden cast on you in Diablo.

My favorite tactic against BHs as a Mpowers/MEnhancer is to stasis then cloak and run away. And while they are standing there, unable to move or do anything, sending me tells about how much of a "coward" I am, etc...I am doubling back to stand behind them, cloaked, now ready for combat.
Then I open with lightning...standing behind them as I said, and follow with a choke, then KD...
I do this all the time and it totally catches them off-guard. I have even had a couple tell me afterwards "I really thought I was gonna wet myself, I didn't expect that at all!"
Powers is about tactics and style. Really, Enhancer is the perfect match for powers, because Enhancer is a profession all about giving you more options that provide tactics and style. I always laugh when some MLS/MDef calls me down for not standing toe to toe with him. Truth is I would be an idiot to do so. I have to make him fight the battle on my terms, when and where I want, and make him stay on the defense, being the one reacting not proacting. I consider this template type to be a bag o' tricks. My method of taking down BHs is a really simple application of "tricks" which take his element of surprise away, negate his having had the first attack, and completely throw him off balance.
I have killed a few MLS/MDef. I'll not lie though, I have lost to about twice as many. The good news is, the ones I killed were more recent, since I have worked on strategy against them. Think about what makes them tough...they are harder to kill, and hit harder than you. Basically, they have every advantage...so you have to make advantages. I basically play keep-away with them. My goal is to make them waste their force bar as much as possible, and kill their action in the process. Run and shoot, keep them at you, but don't let them get you cornered. On that note, if you are actually fighting in a city or especially in a building...you are stupid. Mpowers needs to be in an open area with plenty of room to move. You are ranged, be ranged. I use a saber (but I have no saber skills) but I also carry a good pistol and a good rifle. Use em.
When the fight is getting long, and hopefully you have been very conservative in your foece use...go on the full offensive. This is were it gets tricky. A guy with really good pearls and good force conservation skills (or God forbid he actually pops a holo) might not be so worn down. It's a gamble at this point, but unless you want to dance with him for an hour, make it count. I will use the cloaking method in this case too. Only downside of that is, some guys take it as an excuse to /endduel (if this is a duel) thinking you cloaked to run away. I don't use cloak to run, I use it to hide my movements...
But anyway, the offense you use can vary. Some rules I go by, if you are going to use a combo of attacks that include zipper bar attacks, and non zipper bar attacks...go with the zipper first so that your attacks are closer together. I lead with lightning and follow with choke, for example. Because, once your attack hits, your cloak drops, and you want to already be going into the next one before he can react. We're talking about an opponent with very high defense and very high dmg output. The only way to kill him is to catch him off of his gaurd and put as much of a hurt on him as possible within a very small window of time.
Anyways, this is my take on my profession. Hope this is helpful.
If you dont mind me asking, what is the rest of your template besides MPowers/MEnhancer?
