Obi-Wan would have lost to Windu. Everything I've read and seen in the movie leads me the conclusion in a straight up fight no one could take him except maybe Yoda in his prime.

As for Windu vs the Emperor, I really have no clue if he intentionally set things up so he would look like he was about to be killed to trick Annie to come to the darkside. I find it interesting that Mace had 3-4 other Masters (council members if I remember correctly) and the Emperor sliced through them like butter. Why couldn't Windu take him then if he was really better than the Emperor? I mean if you can't take someone with 3-4 of your buddies, you should back out of the fight if it becomes 1 on 1.

Yoda IMO was fighting Palp pretty good. The difference was the superior tactics by using the surroundings to his advantage......Yoda's age also had to play a role, he was just to old to last a fight that long. Kind of like Jedi currently in this game, we can't last past these 30 min fights lol.

How old was Palpatine at that time ?

Actually do we really know? Wasn't it written in a book that Palp had clones of himself and was able to keep himself alive by transfering his mind to the clone?

Go about half down the page to 84 BBY, that will tell you when Palp was born. Someone can clicky if they want.

I read somewhere, I forget where, that Mace has only been defeated in "friendly" duels by Yoda (expected), and Dooku (pre-Sith).

This makes me wonder... could Dooku have defeated Palpatine if he wanted to? Interesting question to me.

Obi-wan was no match for Mace, at any time in Mace's life. Now, maybe later on he would have been, but not at the point of Ep3 or anytime before that.

Mace basically defeated Palpatine, but did not realize that Anakin was the shatterpoint. Palpatine was defeated yes, but he knew that Anakin would choose him and Padme over the Mace andthe Jedi. It was Palpatine's knowledge of Anakin and his strategy that was the winner. Straight one on one, Mace had Palps beaten.

Yoda states that Obi-wan is no match for Palps, so how can he be any match for the person who was winning a one on one with Palps before Anakin intervened?

The answer is he couldnt.

Maybe down the road, he could have been a match for him

/agree. Yoda told Obi he was not match for Palp, but Windu had Palp beat.

Mace would kick Obi's butt.

This is tough as comparing fight chains doesn't work.

The only people that have beatin Mace, were Dooku and Yoda.

Dooku got torn apart by Anikan, but not before incapping Obi-Won.

Later, Obi-Won beat Anikan.

However, one could argue that the only reason Mace didn't tear Anikan a new one was because he had his guard down to him and Sidous did the DB. Also the only reason Obi-Won beat Anikan was because Anakin was emotionally unstable at the time. If these two are true, then in a duel Windu would destroy Obi-Won.

Now i dont' have the exact quote, btu in the novelization of eIII, Obi-wan aproaches mace after the council decides unanamosly to send him after greivous. Obi=wan ask Mace "Why, i am but a master of Soresu, nothing compared to vaapid." To which Mace responds, " You are a master of a classic style where i have created a lethal style, when i fought Grievous he quickly adapted to my style, Master Kenobi i feel that you are the only one amongst us that can defeat grievous."

Mace Acknowledges that Obi-wan's skill with a blade is not solely in his lethality, but his nature. Windu relies on a strong offense based upon his ability to see shatterpoints. The stronger the disturbance, the stronger the emotion, the easier it is for him to overcome his opponent. Kenobi fought cool collected and with the exception of his figth with anakin, in which he was unpenetrable, buying time until the oppurtune moment. Because of this i believe Kenobi woudl defeat Mace, not by overpowering, but by outsmarting.

I seem tobe alone in this analysis, maybe its my knowledge of real world Martial Arts that allows me to analyze this withoutbias towards a fighter and rather based on merit of the fighter.

Whiel i play a dark jedi, i do not agree with the assumption that lightside is weak, if you refer to the films, the dark side is not stronger, and neither is the powers of the sith it was only apparantly stronger ebcause of the nature of the side of the force. The lightside finds strength in the force, the Darkside from the force, the truly strogn woudl wield both as they see fit, case in point Jolee Bindo.

because those who claim to be sith nowdys r nothing but imposters... the true sith died out long before... but they were easily stronger than anyone who calls himself a force user these days

Mace woulda won

check out this interesting facts on Mace:

you know how General Grevious in the movies was always coughing?:

"In the second season of Star Wars: Clone Wars (the George Lucas/Cartoon Network animated series), wherein events mostly take place just prior to Revenge of the Sith, Windu briefly fought General Grievous when the general and his forces overpowered the Jedi and captured Chancellor Palpatine. Windu crushed Grievous' chest with a powerful Force push, leaving the general with the asthmatic cough that would plague him for the rest of his life."

words on his swordsmanship:

"In addition to his reputation for wisdom and power, Windu was considered to be one of the finest swordsmen to ever grace the Jedi Order. He created Vaapad, a dueling technique within the seventh form of lightsaber combat which contained certain elements of dark side practices. Only Windu, his former student Depa Billaba, and legendary lightsaber instructor Sora Bulq ever mastered it, though both Bulq and Billaba fell to the dark side of the Force. It was said that only Yoda and Count Dooku could outspar him"

and his overall rep:

"[Mace Windu] is a fictional character in the Star Wars Universe. He was portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson in the Star Wars prequels Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and was probably the most famous human Jedi in the galaxy, his skills only second to Master Yoda.

Windu was a Jedi Master of legendary status and one of the last members of the Jedi Council before the Great Jedi Purge. He possessed extensive knowledge of Jedi history and philosophy, and was a diplomat by nature, although the Clone Wars caused him to question his firmest held beliefs. A respected Jedi on par with the venerable Master Yoda, Windu was a senior member of the Jedi High Council. His wisdom and power were legendary, as was the weight of his words. He was an excellent chief mentor and considered a wise and powerful Jedi Consular/Guardian Master of the Jedi Order."

Windu was too ninja on clone wars, he killed 028038205702740270 super battle droids by himself. And that part where he uses force push on Grevious when he got there Grevious was leaving he just looked at Grevious and did that and his ship escaped.

I'm gonna frap that part hold on.
