Dridernce; "The core weakness of the game, in my opnion, is not the bugs, is not the grinding and is not the even the weakness of Jedi. It's the sheer lack of content."

ROFLMAO....sorry but anyone that thinks SWG has no content should go play Horizons for a while...lol, attitude is all about perspective.

As far as content goes SWG has more than pretty much any game I ever played...except maybe UO when they used to have in-game volunteers providing spur-of-the-moment content.

So far I've heard that "grinding exp is better than quests", "grinding professions is better than grinding all the same exp" and "quests are better than grinding".

I'm personally in the boat for the last; quests should replace grinding when possible. For the FS and Jedi exp I think that there should be quests that give you credit for the exp. That way you can chose to get there by grinding away one type of exp, playing the game normally for a few years (hoping they don't change the system part way through) or doing a combination of grinding, playing normally and quests for exp credit.

So far what I haven't heard from the 'SWG has no content' types is WHAT they think content consists of.

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Two years of "Soon"(TM), a harsh bunch of lies.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie"

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Dancers can't smuggle and neither can I.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie."

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Why are there Jedi, I don't know why.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie."

LOL yeah we get what you are saying. We get that you are saying that SOE said it would be quest driven and it is not. It should be eh? Yeah I am sure games like Final Fantasy that have story driven rpg elements are not successful and all.

You are saying that SOE basically does not have content in the game. THANKS for showing our points! We would be happy if we got what was promised to us. I do not to do quests like just what the above poster said. Because to be honest he is right I rarely ever read the txt. Do jabba's palace and you will know what all the missions are like with one npc. I want real quest content like the developer's promised. Hell if that means hiring an intelligent thoughtful writer then SO BE IT. It cannot be this difficult. We would be much happier with a quest driven system that took a while to complete then grinding xp on a creature over and over again and having to wait 4 and a half months to even finish the system to hit padawan. And what exactly is the developer's explanation for having to do the village 1 and a half times?

To me it would seem that if you go thru the village once you have become experience in the force. But hey you already said that SOE does not have quests and missions. You have already stated we should just grind or move on. That is right. We should be just like you and accept the trash that SOE throws out at us while taking 2 months to develop it when something else was promised.

HEY! Let me quit my job and/or stop taking college classes and sit at my computer everyday for 10 hrs and grind! Man that sounds like fun. But hey I would be like you!

Okay obviously you didnt get what I was saying. Its okay one star away becuase you didnt understand. Ill make myself clearer in the fututre.

It's not even THAT hard. I rather grind millions of exp as a master, than grind millions of exp TO master(s). The "hard" part is the waiting you have to do if you didnt get lucky with free branches. I think the system is just fine. Waiting times make sure you don't unlock in a day or too.

Totally agree. The problem is the waiting, not the grinding. Amount of xp is just fine. I like repeating myself.

Yeah an online game you pay a monthly fee for should be hard work!

pfft

Where is the fun in grinding a billion xp?

Grinding xp doesnt equal content.

So other people should get what others earned with hard work, because its only fair?

No sweetie.

Just pointing out the fact you dont pay someone to work.

Grinding xp by mindlessly killing 40000 creatures is not fun unless your a sadist.

The whole game has devolved into Grindfest mania.

When an online game lacks balance or monthly content in the form of a story line, you end up with this pile of crap.

jedi is meant to be an accomplishment in this game, not something easily obtained

why are so many people on the forum so stupid. if you think its to hard then dont do it, you dont have to. if you think becoming jedi is to hard THEN DONT. if you think the game is to hard then quit.

First of all I love your name DarthBush lol.

Accomplishment?

Basically you clicked a mouse button 200,000,000 times.

If you got killed by a BH a few times make it 200,010,000 times.

My point is grinding something to say " Wow im so proud of myself " is not fun.

I never see anyone post a message "WoW I had so much fun playing my Jedi today"

Its always I am working so hard and I made 900k xp in an hour!

So what that doesnt make for an enjoyable game.

The problem is not the system, the problem is way people play the system. It's not meant for you to sit at your computer and kill rancors or kryat dragons or whatever or craft swoop bikes or composite helmets or stimpacks over and over and over and over and over and over and over until you get enough xp to gain your skills. The point is for you to play the game normally, (go on guild hunts, or hunt alone, or do the dungeons or the theme parks or the quests in the game or craft items that you sell in your vendors, oritems that you use yourself as you go about your adventures) and gain your xp as you go along. Eventually, you should look up and say; "Hey! I've finally earned enough xp to gain my next skill!" Now I'm not saying that it's dumb to take a day to hunt to gain xp, but everyday shouldn't be that way. XP stands for experience. You should actually be enjoying that Kyrat dragon hunt. Interracting with the other players accompanying you. Not sitting down and figuring out how many times you're going to have to do a certain special on a certain creature and how many times you're going to have to heal in the process, then creating a running the approriate macro and walking away from your computer while your character "plays itself" for 18 hours. People aren't "experiencing" the game anymore, they're plowing through it blindly. You're going to sit and craft 8000 composite armor chestplates in 1 day? Of course the game isn't going to be fun for you anymore!

And your analogy about clicking the mouse 2,000,000 times isn't really accurate either. This is a computer game. No matter what you do; pvp, grind professions, fish, craft, you're going to be clicking your mouse. That's like saying "I didn't pay 50 bucks for Madden '05 to push X, O, Triangle and Square all day. That's just absurd reasoning.
