One guy in a queue at McDonalds asks for a BK Whopper and is marked as an idiot. Does that mean that if half the queue ask for a BK Whopper, they are any less of an idiot?
The issue is that everyone signs up for PVP when they CHOOSE to become a jedi. It's like signing an EULA then moaning that you can't copy the game for your mates.

why did they remove perma death?
Someone had to whine for that one and it couldn't have been the post cu/post pub 9 jedi.Message Edited by rebellious_imp on 10-03-2005 08:29 AM
Because people wouldn't like having their main toon deleted? Duh?
Here's my answer
I became a weaponsmith back when I first started playing the game because I wanted to make a Trandoshan Hunter's Rifle. Not that we knew there would ever be such a thing. Imagine my surprise when 2 years later I was able to make the rifle that I wanted to make when I CHOSE to be a weaponsmith! Lucky me!
I guess I CHOSE to become a jedi back before the CU back when the jedi actually were powerful. I didn't choose to play jedi as it currently exists. I think I have found a way to accept it the way it is . . .but with so much change it's hardly even comparable to the way it was.

You're wrong. The nerfs would continue. And what's the point to being a jedi if we couldn't participate in pvp?

Oh, I knew. I just did not care, since I doubt thoose who gave birth to the whole jedi system have moved on.

No, this is not a PvP plug -- the difference is I KNEW THIS WAS WHAT JEDI WAS ABOUT WHEN I GRINDED... it seems there is people in denial that they did too.
I understand our nerfs and issues... you know this, you also know I hate seeing us made into nothing more then a flesh eating Chuba killer.
With that said... Jedi was and is part of PvP -- people wanting anything less is no more then crying for a nerf.
The frs was closed... I do not think I could ask for much more. I have learned to live with the bh's.
Theres no pvp content for jedi at all, but you can go to kashyyyk and get a red crystal... that is pve.
So if you judge about what you can do in the game I say we are a bit of both.
I agree with most who say Jedi should be banned from all pvp. That would strengthen the profession as a whole, save the profession from alot of bad attitudes, and the nerfs would stop. But that's just me, and you heard it all before.

Iskareot is a pre publish 9 jedi fyi. I agree with what he wrote 100%. We all knew from day one of the grind that Jedi was a pvp proffesion, even though Jedi may not ne as powerful as it once was, why does this mean a pve option should be allowed for Jedi?
First of all, Iskareot by his own admission unlocked 6/04/04. Clicky Patch 9 came in on 6/29/04. If he made 4444 Guardian and became an expert on Pre-pub 9 in less than 4 weeks, I'd say the arguments about it being so much now easier are way off.
Second of all, if Jedi is a PvP profession, why is advancement through the Jedi skill boxes completely PvE? The GCW used to be completely PvP as well, enough people wanted to take part in the GCW theme of the Star Wars Universe without dealing with the childishness that permeates alot of the PvP crowd. If enough people wat to take part in the Jedi theme of the Star Wars Universe without dealing with the rude, abusive exploiting people that take part in PvP, there's a good chance that this could change too.
With the GCW,a system was put in place to allow a choice, which is what people are asking for. If you personally like to PvP, you can still do all you want. But you want to force your playstyle on others.
You claim that PvE Jedi would lead to more nerfs, I disagree. Most of the nerf calls on Jedi have come because of the GCW forum complaining that Jedi are ruining the GCW, the bounty hunters complain thatthey cna't kill their marks, and the PvP Jedi complaining that they can't kill a certain other Jedi template in PvP as it relates to the FRS system.
If PvE resulted in nerf calls, sowrdsmen and riflemen would not have dominated the loot gathering environement from release to the CU, and smuggler/pistoleer would have been nerfed a couple months ago.

I bought this game 2 years ago because I wanted to be able to role play a Jedi, with the understanding that with it I would be stronger than any other profession. This was confirmed when the first person unlocked their Jedi and when the first few unlocks became strong enough to PVP. I was excited and continued my work for a Jedi, knowing AND expecting perma-death, and the fact that I am about 10 times (later confirmed the devs intentions were 20 times) stronger than any combat profession.
Then publish 9 came out and Jedi got nerfed. It wasn't too bad, but it did hurt. Granted, kinetic lightsabers went away, but the Jedi couldn't be a true Jedi in my opinion, if they didn't have the ability to master the force AND the lightsaber. This included healing, enhancing, defense, force powers, and saber. That was a big nerf in my eyes, and I cancelled my account for awhile. Then friends told me Jedi are still well off, and though difficult to attain, knowing my conviction I could attain this goal.
Holo grinding came around, and my first holo said chef, and I said screw it, and quit again.
Awhile later they introduced the village, and I came back, still seeing Jedi were fairly well off, atleast better than other combat professions, even though they couldnt wear armor.
I grinded my way through the village with no holocron unlocks, and got my Jedi, just in time for the combat nerf to hit me half way through my grind.
Suffice it to say, I quit for awhile. I came back about 3 weeks ago in anticipation of a FRS being unleashed, and my charector being ready for the knight trials and FRS, I hope that maybe my Jedi will be worth the effort and hope I've put into it. I have my doubts, and if history truly repeats itself, I'll be cancelling my account for good, as the FRS seems to be the last hope for any fun out of my Jedi charector.

lol Thanks but I did not ever say I made guadian lol -- not once ever. lol, However that date does not reflect the unlock time (sorry) this was a time when we did not exactly announce it.. I know you may know this or not.. there is alot on my server that know my time was before that of course.. but whats funny is that pre 9 was pre 9 and being in it almost 4 months was enough for me man.
As I recall they did not change any of my trees then either, not only that... I was scared out of my mind to die or tell anyone but one person I was a Jedi ... again, different times... we did not exactly tell anyone until we felt ready then.
Saber tefs and skill loss /death etc.. made this so. (But telling me I dont know the difference? lol um... Ok)...
But you said it best... crying coming from the GCW people and others is not the answer... I still think crying for PvE Jedi is a mistake and so far it seems that is true.
The lack of visionfrom the SOE producers have done more tonerf jedi than any nerf cry....
All in all if your a Jedi at least one year I think you more or less have a clue of what nerf cries have done to us... unless of course your ebay LOL.
LETS KEEP IN MIND THE DESIGN BEHIND JEDI.... WHAT IT WAS MEANT TO BE AND IS. Then go from there.
Really which jedi design is that...when the game first started...pre-Pub 9...Post Pub 9...CU...today???

I cant believe people are actually taking this stuff so seriously that they actually are researching past posts to determine the veracity of the original poster!!
You get an "A" for the day and a big star to sticky on all your posts for letting the truth be known about that whaascally wabbit!!
I chose Jedi when I first heard about this game... years before it was released... WAY before it was ever revealed how one would become Jedi...
The reason... well it's the only thing in Star Wars that I have any desire to play... no desire to be a doctor.. or a smuggler... or any of that... No Jedi... no SWG... IMO
I want to roleplay and have fun with my Jedi... I have no desire to play AGAINST other players... never have... never will...
