Thread: Jedi vs BH Cybernetic Fun!

i think this could be an interesting idea but should not cost what the bounties mission cost. when a full templated jedi is innately designed to be 1.5x as strong as a bounty hunter, (and when FRS is reenacted, even more depending on their levels) it seems unfair that a bounty hunter should have to paythe entire jedi bounty cost to have the legs removed...maybe 10-15% would seem reasonable but to be paying 225k just because he lost to a player designed to be stronger seems a bit unfair. also, you take into consideration jedi can run into houses if they appear to be losing, can grind on kashyyyk, where 90% or bounty hunters refuse to take marks because of broken droids and LOS, and the bounty hunter has no element of surprise with the /duel exploit now. Still think this is an interesting suggeston, would bring more realism into game with missing limbs from the lightsaber, but costing that much to have the limbs removed seems a bit much.

Good idea, though I'd suggest that on top of that, you have the legs painted with, "I'm a bounty hunter who took a mission on___, and all I got was this darned prosthesis!"

Very interesting suggestion.

woot...i really love this idea...i hope it can go into consideration that if a BH he has to pay the price of the jedi to get the negative cyber off him

oh yeah...have one of the cybernetics be a "You can't use root cause you suck"

My main is a (non-respecced) MBH. I would like the idea of losing a limb when you die (make it random). Make the removalcost 10% like Tanks said (reasonable fee), and make a chance that the limb removed could be the already "enhanced range arm" or whatever. Still something to lose, but not horrible. It's enough to add content, but will not cost so much that BHs go out of their way to hunt lower level paddies or whatnot. Sounds like fun.

That being said.... I think that since SWG has decided to implament cybernetic body parts into the game, then maybe us Jedi could have a bit of fun with it. I am in no way suggesting that the DEV's try to make the game graphic in nature so that body parts go flying, however I do have a suggestion, let me break it down.
:: Current Gameplay Facts ::
- When a BH kills a Jedi, the Jedi loses massive amounts of xp
- When a BH kills a Jedi, the BH makes tons of money
- When a BH takes a Jedi mission, the BH can bring friends to help
- When a Jedi gets attacked, NO ONE can help them at all
- When a Jedi actually kills a BH, they get nothing (except being on the BH-Terms some more)
Seems to me that Jedi lose no matter how you look at it, in a BH encounter. If the BH wins, he gets paid and the Jedi gets the shaft. If the Jedi wins, he gets... well... you guessed it.... more BH's coming for him...
Bottom line is this. Jedi stand to lose everything in these encounters, and BH's stand to lose absolutely nothing but a trip to the nearest cloner.
:: My Cybernetic Suggestion ::
- The game already has cybernetics set up, and coded into the game, to pop onto your body randomly at different cloners if you did not clone before you died. You might have seen some of your friends walking about Dathomire with silver legs a few times
- I say this... If a BH is defeated in combat by a Jedi, then to simulate the body parts that would normally most certainly hit the floor, make them clone automatically with a Cybernetic Body part at random. but not just any old generic Cybernetic... one with negative stats too it... ex... -15 terrain neg, or -10 melee def, etc etc
- These cybernetics can still be removed by a Cyber-Doc in the Hospital anytime they wish, BUT... it would cost the BH whatever his Jedi mission was worth that he failed. So if a BH took a 225k mission on a Jedi and dies, then it will cost him 225k to remove his horrible new body part
I just think it's high time that BH's actually had some risk in going up against an opponent such as the Jedi. You have all heard BH's say.... " Oh I only do it for the money".... "Nuthing personal".... ok fine, lets hit them where it counts, in thier pocket book

Actually, I could support this, sounds like fun. Though, the removal fee is kinda high and would encourage bottom feeding even more. Now, the usual fee or 10% of the bounty amount or so could work.
However, the current mechanic does not allow this to happen if you are cloned, and on a regular planet. So, in order to fit it to the current game mechanic that restriction might have to be put in as well.

I agree with Tanks, setting the cost for removal at the bounty payout, will only encourage bottom feeding. Maybe reverse it, so if a BH takes a low end mission and fails they pay big, but if they take a high end mission and fails they won't have to pay as much. That way it would encourage BH's to take higher difficulty missions.

I actually really like this idea. However I do also see where mentioned that this would give BH's more reason to grief the paddy's. However I have a solution for that . Change the risk vs reward around a bit.

We know that a full template knight is 226k on the mission terminals. Now lets assuming we use a negative scale vs the payout of the mission. For example...

a 200k knight would pose a high risk to the BH, assuming the BH lost and got a cybernetic body part, he should then be able to go to the med center and talk to the cybernetics doctor to have it removed. given that he was a 200k mark out of a possible 226k, he should pay 26k to have his cybernetic limb removed (226k-200k = 26k).

So the formula is (maxpossible_mission - mission_payout = cost_of_cybernetic_repair)

using this same forumla for a low level paddy, lets assume a 60k paddy, then we would be looking at 226k - 60k = 166k in order to remove the cybernetics from a failed mission.

Once the FRS comes back we would have to rework the numbers in order to balance it, or give the FRS it's own type of penalty/payout for the BH's. But following this style of a system we would be balancing out the hunting, they could choose to hunt low level marks which techinically should be easier, but if they fail what would be considered and easy mission then they have a larger penalty. However they would then have the option of hunting full template knights or higher level Jedi who would probably welcome the content with a much lower risk for failure. A full template knight would have a much higher possible reward, a much lower risk if failed, but at the same time it would also be a harder bounty to collect on. Or if you wanted to a system that was 50% of the mission payout in order to remove the cybernetics that would probably work as well, it would still give incentives to hunt higher level marks and less incentive to go for the "easy kills" on the low level paddies. Most BH's would probably end up hunting in the mid ranges which is really where they should be.

Bh's also wouldn't be just randomly pulling missions then and doing "suicide" runs. They would carefully consider their missions and actually stalk their prey. They would then become true hunters. Both parties would then have something to lose, and any level jedi would be open for attacks by bh's since the risk vs rewards is more relatively balanced. I think this would add more content for everyone, both Jedi and BH's, and would make a BH care if they won or lost. currently it really doesn't make any difference if they win or lose, as they can simply go pull another mission with no penalty and do it again and again until they succeed.

**edit**

Notice that at a full template 226k, that the BH would then lose no money. I see this as a good thing for several reasons. The first being that this will encourage the hunting of fully templated Jedi which is where it should belong IMO. Those that choose to grief lower level chars must also take some risk on themselves, and if they didn't already have the cash in their bank account to cover the penalty then they shouldn't be able to pull the mark to begin with. The other side of this is that at 226k or full template the Jedi no longer has anything to lose, therefore the BH shouldn't be losing anything either.

And the more I'm thinking about the FRS the more I am thinking that the BH shouldn't be recieving a penalty there either. An FRS knight will still stand to lose some ground, but their payouts are always higher than standard full template Jedi, and they are much harder to kill giving them a true advantage over the BH with the extra mods that are recieved in the FRS. Also the FRS is totally optional, it does not add any new skills so no new content really, the only thing the FRS does is increase the Jedi's strength in his current skillset.

**end edit**

What does any of this have to do with anything in this post? This is about adding risk to BH's, that is lacking in this game. I dont believe I stated once that being a Jedi was difficult, nor easy.... this is about adding some Cybernetic content to the game for fun.

"Bottom line is this. Jedi stand to lose everything in these encounters, and BH's stand to lose absolutely nothing but a trip to the nearest cloner."

Wrong. BH lose a lot of time and hassle that adds up to most of the time you jedi hiding in cantinas, or like I just experience on Kash tonight, you Jedi exploiting line of sight by standing just after where the bridge stops. You run and hide and now cheat. All for what? Because of XP. XP loss is what needs to change.

What needs to be done is remove the xp loss from Jedi deaths. That would promote more pvp and less of your bullcrapcantina hidingand line of sight cheating.

Adding other crap that we BH have to go through will only get less BH after you. Maybe this is what you want, though, less after you - so you can carebear it up in peace. Is it peace you want, or is the fundamental problem the loss of XP?

Regarding the rest of your post - great colors you have, and honestly it's a 'good' idea IF there wasn't another option. XP loss is the real problem.

i've always thought the bh should suffer in some way for failing missions, equal to what the jedi loses in a death to a bh.

This would probably highly limit the BH population that goes after higher level Jedi. The lower level jedi may have problems, but I am all for this. Great idea, I wouldn't have thought that one up. Terrain Negotiation Negatives would make a BH angry for a few minutes
