Thread: ***The Jedi Guardians Template: MLS / 4000 Healer / 4440 Defender / 3002 Enhancer***
Could have saved yourself alot of skill points to be used elsewhere and had more force had you done another template...but this one has some merit if you want to be a tank Jedi.
There are much better templates for PvP though if that is what you are after.
absolutely great thread
addressed my currant dilemma, can't decide on either MLS, MEnh, healing 4xxx or MLS, Enh 4002, Healing 4000, Def 43440.
Might actually stay at Enh 3002 and get 3 full trees of Def (not sure what ones), or two Def and take some FA like someone else said here with Def 4040 and Imp Force Armour, hadn't even thought of that option
Can you notice a big difference between Def 4044 and 4440? Got jumped by BH a LOT during the last 2 days, without 2x exp I'd be hopelessly in negative exp, wondering what best way to prevent their ranged damage is that doesn't involve MDef. I got enough exp banked to train def xxx2 atm. Just need to know how much bock I get from that and what the damage reduction is.
If anyone got info on that it would be greatly appreciated ![]()

Very nice template LIKspiker, close to something I had been thinking of.
Presently Master Defender, but not sure I want to keep that, and I really always loved the MLS box, as that what I was Pre-CU anyway.
One question though. What is the cap for LS speed and Accuracy? I'm just getting back in the game and I'm not sure on all the numbers yet.
not sure if it is same with jedi, but with normal profs there is no real cap, just a mark where further investment would give you only minimal benefit. So the "cap" is around 150 I think, as mentioned you have 140 accuracy, just get 10 more general melee accuracy and you reach it. With speed it might be a little harder

Having 4440 Defender helps more then just having 4040 Defender but mostly because of the innate armor, the added melee and ranged defense is nice however but not absolutely necessary in my opinion. Because of this, I've been thinking about trading x4xx Defender for x4xx Enhancer for Force Armor. It would be the exact same amount of skillpoints used, but would give you more innate armor. However the disadvantage would be that you would have to turn FA on (with innate armor thats always there you dont have to worry about turning on half of your defense if you get ambushed in PvP or by a BH), and that FA still costs a chunk of force from what i've been hearing from friends. Getting FA might be worth it, but Im gonna wait before I make the change, in the meantime i'll be banking the xp
but what about the difference between Def 4440 and 4044, trading some innate armor points for the ability to block some shots? Would it be a smart choice? That's what he was asking and I'd like to know as well.
I wouldnt personally do this, I would rather have extra innate armor to absorb the shots that I get hit with, and let Aura help me get hit less. Also valor is only effective against ranged...Since you would have less innate armor, melee ppl will hityou harder and so will ranged people if they manage to get a shot through your Aura and Valor. Valor is not necissary, but its nice if you have if you chose to go Master Defender.
Close to my template of MLS, Defender 0444, Healer 4000, Enh 2003
I dropped the Melee defense line in favor of the preternatural line for the Valor skill. I feel that this coupled with Master Saber gives me a better saberblock when I need to deal with a BH or whatever a ranged profession might throw at me.

Im not sure on the new science behind all the caps and stuff, but from what I've been reading, there is no more hard cap. So that means even if you had MLS / +25 LS speed tape / +25 General Melee speed tape...even after all that you would still benefit from forcespeed. The difference wouldnt be as drastic if you were just MLS and turned forcespeed on, but you would still benefit. I think this is because the devs are using diminishing returns now...but dont quote me on anything because Im not 100% sure.

I'm really starting to like this template.
personally I'm of the opinion that force armor 2 would be a better use of skillpoints instead of ranged defense 4 though.
with FA2 and 4040 defender you get advanced aura and +42 innate armor. that adds up to +87 armor with FA2 activated.
also I have my fingers crossed for Force Armor bonuses, as well as saber block bonuses in the FRS. with saber block bonuses I will feel better about dropping the ranged defense
Exactly what mine is. MLS, Defender 4040, Healer 4000, Enhancer 3402. I love it! Of course FA2 in emergencies only. ![]()

I'd have to disagree, this template does quite well in PvP...of course it all comes down to how you play it. I can beat Master Defenders (the old FOTM) and Master Enhancers (the new FOTM, sorta) with this template, so I would say it does quite well
