Thread: CIVIL Discussion about a New FSCS system
Jedi_Jet wrote:Why do all the holo-grinder thinks that they deserve any compensation?
NO one told you to go grind Holo's, you chose to. I have 4 of them and I never expected to grind. Most of the players that are grinding for FSCS are miserable anyhow...... but the rest of the players that haven't gone and grinded out profession after profession are still enjoying the game. I am sorry you spent months and hundreds of thousands of credits to accomplish your goals, but it was your choice to do so. I hope the DEVS do acknowledge all of you efforts, but I will not feel sorry for you if they don't. I still think the holo-grinders were nuts, holo's have destroyed alot of really cool peoples guilds, and also caused a lack of goods and services to be available in many cities. Sorry about things changing, but it seems to me the quest for Jedi just got interesting instead of dry and boring the way it has been.
Someone tells you that you can be the CEO of Microsoft if you take 5 tests and pass them all. You pass the first 4 tests and then they tell you that those tests are no longer part of the system to become CEO of Microsoft. Now you've been doing what you were told, you've worked hard studying to pass those tests, are you going to be happy if they don't compensate you for the time you spent following their original system? Nope. But it doesn't matter, because the new system is going to take into account that some have already passed the first 4 tests and they will be placed ahead of those who haven't. I agree with you on one thing though, the quest for the FS slot is about to get a whole lot more interesting. I almost wish I hadn't unlocked my slot before, cause now I'm gonna miss out on cool quests. The ones that have been in game since beta have all been stale and uninteresting. Hopefully they make the FS slot quests exciting and engaging. Force people into the battlefields, force people to enter into player cities, etc. If they can make it so the quests force you to actually experience the game then it will validate the stagnate content.
I think that people are mostly forgetting about the value of gameplay in the obsessive quest to unlock their FSCS. 75% of these posts are people concerned about credit towards their progress if and when a new Jedi system is created and implemented. But I have a question that some have addressed, and I think it should be addressed even more. What kind of gaming environment do we have when there are thousands of Jedi running around? The new post indicates that the perma-death system is being revamped to a death-buffer dependant on level in which you can possibly lose skills. Now while I realize that advancing a Jedi character should be long and difficult, and that losing skills definitely will make dying extremely undesirable, I ask this question: How does this address the issue of the thousands of player Jedi on each server?? This way, there's just going to be thousands of mad, angry padawans running around who can't ever advance very far because of skill loss. But there's still a whole bunch of them. I propose something radical, dastardly, and well...downright dirty. But I think it needs to be done. Let's make permadeath what it really should be....permadeath. You have a force-sensitive character, congratulations!!! But in the world of Star Wars, these people have the hardest lives of all, and so should it be in the game. If you die, you die. Give everyone 3 deaths till permadeath, and then when they hit the cap, make it real permadeath....you lose your FSCS. I'm not saying it should be a one shot deal, on the contrary, there should be some way to regain your FSCS, but with both the current and proposed systems, neither address this issue. This is the only way I can think of that simultaneously lets almost anyone have a chance at a Jedi characater, while keeping the population low. I'm sorry if this offends some people, as I'm sure it does. But really stop and think about it, how special is your Jedi Character when you look around and see 15 others just like you waiting for a shuttle? Do we really want Jedi's to be as common as TKMs or MCs? I sure don't.

i really think u should let those who are on thier silent holocron finish thier path in the holocron way
thats what theyv been starting with.. thats the way they should get thier fs...
and im saying for my self as well.. on the 14's proff now..

If the recognition I am to recieve does not involve revealing my silent profession, to let me have to still go all the way though mastering it, or placing me on the last leg of any quest system, with a waypoint to my quest objective, this game gets deleted.
ditto.
My 2 cents?
1. It seems like Lightsabers are a big problem with decay rate (they should fix that)
2. Jedi do not need armor (they should be able to make robes or get tailors to make socket robes for them along with other clothing or buff them up)
3. the TEF system for the jedi should be recalculated (for their sake of BH's)
4. LESS GRINDING
5. Jedi be able to take out NPC Jedi
6. Jedi should be a lil overpowered towards other professions (as i read once that a TKA took out a jedi knight.)
thats what i gotta say and im sticking to it
Jedi_Jet ... I have played this game for the last 3 months doing exactly what the devs told me I should do to become a jedi, and that is grind proffessions. I'm now working on #18 since they released the holocrons, and have spent literally hundreds, if not a thousand hours on this. The only reason I did this is because this is currently the way that you unlock a jedi. There is no other way to get a jedi... if there was, trust me I'd much prefer to do it.So after spending so many hours, and so many credits (close to 8 million on this now) and being so close to being done, and only doing it because SOEtold me if I completed it I would get my great reward... you don't think I deserve any compensation for my efforts?
Jedi_Jet ... thats probably one of the most ignorant posts I've ever seen on these boards.
I myself, would hate anypart of either opening the FSCS or jedi that requires forced PvP (where you have no choice but to fight another player , such as the current BH jedi missions.)

Okay, here's my $0.02:
Before the new holos, there was a theory on the forums that there was some sort of hidden "jedi faction" which you gained points towards. I think that was actually probably the -best- way to go about opening a slot.
1. Keep the random professions. If you want to grind profs you can and for each one of the random ones you hit you get 15% of your hidden jedi fp. Get the right 5 plus a bit of hidden fp from other things like quests and ding - slot opens. Holos won't become useless and all the currently grinded profs also won't become useless. As for the devs not being able to track pre-badge profs - BS. They have to have some way to track at least whether you mastered your random profs or the holos wouldn't have worked.
2. Implement quests (Intellect, Altrusism, new quests, etc., whatever - make a bunch of them). For each one you complete, you get some hidden jedi fp.
3. Other positive factors. Faction factors - higher rank, more hidden fp - for every mission taken and completed, a bit more hidden fp. POIs - visit a POI get some hidden fp...but not every POI gives hidden fp, make it random so no one knows which one gives them fp today. We can't have people saying, "hey I visited every POI and I still don't have my slot". Screw that. If you want to visit POIs fine, you -might- get some hidden fp from it, you might not.
4. Some negative factors. If you are going to have a hidden fp system, you need to have a way to -lose- fp as well as gain it, so something like taking a quest mission and then aborting it to farm an item (broken lightsabres, dark jedi medallions, whatever) causes you to -lose- hidden jedi fp. If you take a mission, you better finish it. Personally, I would be very happy if Kill Stealers and Mission Stealers would lose hidden fp and never get a slot opened.
Randomize it somewhat so that just grinding out faction missions won't open your slot, just grinding out quests won't open your slot, just grinding out anything won't open your slot, but enough grinding could get you close.
Using a system like this, there will be practically no way for anyone to "map out" a way to open a slot, other than the currently already known profession grinding - we all know that it can be done, but it's a real pain and really, no one -wants- to do it.
People will still be opening slots, and it can still be quite rare, but at least there will be many different -paths- to opening a slot. By adding a bit of hidden jedi fp to this and that, there will be no one way to get the slot opened, yet there will be -some- way for -anyone- to end up with a slot opened.
And yes, give us some damned indicators to give us some -hope- as we travel the path. If someone hits 50% of their hidden fp, give them a system message or an email or some special ability. If an artisan hits the right spot, maybe they get some +assembly or +experimentation mod.
I won't try to assume that I can suggest -all- the ways that the hidden fp can be accumulated, or dissipated, or rewarded along the way, but you get my point.
My friends already laugh at me for how much I play this game.... just think of how much they will laugh at me if i have to tell them that the last 3 months of playing this game was all wasted... ![]()
I'll tell you what.... I would be *shocked* if the new system didn't compensate us holo-grinders well. Think about it... 3/4 of the player base is grinding holocrons... most have been doing sofor 3 months. There is no way SOE would ever do anything topiss off 3/4 of the player base to the point of them cancelling.
I doubt my post will ever reach a DEV, so it really doesnt matter. Im on my 22end profession. Bounty Hunter. Im to far into it to drop it and start mastering as fast as i can before the new implementation. So, i got to finish it. I predict by the next implementation ill be done with 24 or 25 professions. Leaving 6 possibles considering my luck i wont unlock until 32...
anyways, what i wanted to post was if their gonna change the system at least do some of the following..
- Allow Current SILENT holocron keepers to proceed as predestined on the mastered professions path.
Or.
- Make FSCS MUCH easier to unlock in the new system, for the 20's and 25' mastered profession holders.
Or.
- At least not make the people thats spent hourse upon end grinding out profession after profession start all over again, on the unlocking proceedure. The last one took 6 monthes to figure out how to unlock most people on their 20th and 24th and 28th profession wont wait to find it again, therefor at least make them 3/4 done with the quest as they are in the current system and show them the way or something. Because as it stands, a new system would be stripping the hologrinders that have 20+ mastered professions like myself. That would be an utter lowblow to us.
I agree, the system is to Obvious on unlocking FS, but that aint our fault SOE, you guys chose that along time ago, but after you and your brilliant idea for Holocrons directed us to our PATH which was the mastering of multiple professions, you shouldnt just strip us down and say oops, were sorry like an operator for a misdialed phone call. Anyways, i hope something is done to help me and all the people out there that has mastered 21 or more like me. Ill keep mastering until implementation. wish me luck guys, i wish you all the very best. may the force be with you.. always.
