No offense, but who cares? This isn't like a real thought-out RPG, especially with the CL system. As a CL31 mid-template Rifleman there's no way for you to find something exciting and rewarding to do. You either die in two hits or get no XP. All that exists is grinding.

Its seems like a lot of new MMOs have some loose quest based story lineswhichyou follow through, and you gain xp when you complete them. Yeah you could just grind your way pass it without the quest, but you have the option of the other.

I really liked Guild Wars for about a week, and all the quests that unlocked skills while giving xp. It was really neat until I reach level 20 in a few days, then started a new character and saw this cycle starting. All that's left is more mindless pvp so you can get some cool.... emotes and dances... yah! I've never met so many people that were so **edit** about pvp, and so quick to call you a noob. I got bored, and figured that moving stuff around in my house on Corellia would be much more fun.

The depth of things you can do is just amazing in SWG. Sometimes I think we take a lot of things for granted, but other times people are right on with their criticism. I just wish there was more things to do, rather then having a lot of things that you can do. In the end... grinding maybe one of the things "to do", but that's not what we were looking for.

whine whine whine Jedi are the cause of all evil. Yea right. Just keep blaming jedi for the devs failings. JEdi is an alpha class we are now equal or sub par to a normal class. We grind about 30 million jedi xp on average to complete a full template. That means for every 5k xp we get 1k xp and we need 30million xp. A bh/cm/0004 pistoleer requires about a few million but they get 5-6k xp. So yes lets nerf jedi more! I love how people who are or claim to be jedi just like nerfing themselves. Smart people here.

Wow..... someone finally understands. And i thought it was just that the devs wanted to take away my 90% armor. And then take away what little i had left after that nerf lol

Its funny seeing all of the newer Jedi posting and few older ones.

There is no fix for this mess fyi... A time machine only -- that is it.

It's too bad though we were a great class once... with alot of fear and respect for ourselves.

Now I see some Jedi named "Ipwnzerdu" and I want to kill him... I really do.

See at launch the one thing that happend was forced roleplay and fear.... now that left about patch 7 or 8 really..

I unlocked 6/7 -- Im proud to say that...unlocking now after all the double, quad fs xp and all the long 3 week full template grinders... well, I can safely say Jedi has failed at staying rare and unique. Too bad to it was a very neat class then, we could do alot of damage and we had great risks to off set it.

Some of you (not all)-- would have really enjoyed Jedi then and would have had a different outlook on it if you were from that time of it. It really was neat... scarey as crap to grind (Due to death = loss of toon or Skill box).. I mean a incap was sure fire scarey and all you could do was sit there hand shaking.

That is the type of Jedi you would have been happy with as the thrill and power with risk most would have liked. Carebears need not apply to that system it was rough... weeded out people very fast that is for sure.

I miss it but all we can do now is hope for things to get fixed vs changed anymore.

Definitely agree there.

Back in the old "3 death = perma death" system I got killed whilst sabre TEF'd by an Imp just outside Anchorhead. I was returning from an XP session out at some distant point on Dantooine (back when you had to get the hell away from everything if you wanted to stay alive) and just as I was rolling into AH an overt Imp killed me.

Being a Jedi back then was definitely a humbling ordeal - hours of grinding solo at remote locations, the threat of dying, etc. I must admit after that first death, and finding out that the person wasn't specifically after me (he was just an overt imp who saw a TEF'd Rebel - me), I felt sick - but I felt like my class was a double edge sword, as it should be.

MCH was also fun back then too

While i agree with the OP, you can't help but feel that this one of those "im CL80, now make it harder for everyoen else".

I dont mean to flame, just syaing tha tyou can't make a thread like this without that comment being brought out.

I do 100% agree with you though that people are leveling so fast and yet have no knowledge and exp of the game.

The BIGGEST problem with this game is this:
People complaign about things (like the exp) nerf because it is different from what they are used to. Its as plain as that. Once people get used to something, and SOE changes it, they cry for a revamp or fix because it is harder or different than what they are used to.

Possibly Solution:
SOE needs to make one decisive action on where they are going with this game and make it that way. This way new players coming in dont have any idea what the game "was like" and will just play the game for what it is, like it or leave it. Sure this may aggrivate older players who have the mind set like i said above "different thatn what they are used to", but im just stating the facts. This is the problem with everyone complaining...

On a side note, starting a 2nd char on a different server the SAME week the exp nerf hit..i can say that starting from CL5 when the nerf hit made things EXTREMELY hard to level up. I was getting 10...thats right, 10 combat exp per kill. You have any idea how hard it would be to make even Master Marksman with like 132,000 combat exp needed when im making 10 combat exp per kill?!?! HAHAHAHAH But like i said above...*MY* problem was like i said, it was different than what i was used to. So to make a long story short, i dont know how SOE will get around this problem, but something needs to be done. I think SOE just needs to set a path for this game and stick to it. I think they listen to this whiney player base too much and it is drastically affecting our game...nerf after nerf...after nerf....

I think one of the major issue is that with every new publish at least one profession gets a facelift or "Revamp." Many old players that ground out their prof under the old system now find themselves with a profession that they, for whatever reason, are unhappy with. Many of them did not ask for their profession to be changed and the thought of a six week grind to a new profession just sucks. As it stands now, if I grind out a profession then decide I don't like it, I can drop it and regrind another one. It's not such a big deal. It allows me to try many new and different things that I may not have been willing to try before.

Besides, how does someone else's grind impact your gameplay negatively? My guess is that it impacts it very little, if at all...

well. if they took out aoe attacks that would slow things ALOT, but thats for jedi, or they could make them at the master box..available at the master box. in fact, dont nerf it at all. or the four box. cuz why do we need two aoe attacks anyway? do it like they did the cloak. well, dont do anything else.

Also, with every Jedi getting another character on the same server, the Jedi population can never get above 50%.

That assumes everyone continues to use their alt. I haven't logged onto mine (except to move some things about) for months.

Ironically, if I were going to start using it actively - I'd be working towards making it a MBH - since as another person has already remarked, BH and Jedi are the only professions really catered for in the "high end" game.

well. make it so you show off, the Imperial Nova class troopers (or those cl 88 or 90 spawn) spawn five per jedi saber show, and kill them off and they loose xp. the opposite is if you get hunted by an mbh at the same time. what can be done is an attack timer for either them or the mbh in which you cant attack the jedi or the troopers cant attack you. AND xp loss on top of that.

Id do that. Just start those crystal drops...

Heyas,

Well, Ive tried to read most of these posts and while I partially agree with the original poster. I have to disagree with the folks that say the issue has been lack of content and grinding. One person even said that :

Quote:
“Consistently I have seen that there are two schools of thought on this issue and are directly affected by your experience in MMOs.

If you are an MMO n00b and your first experience of an MMO was this travesty of a game known as SWG, you think grinding = content.

If you have played virtually any other MMO out there you know our dev team is the all time laziest with the craziest ideas of what constitutes content and believe grinding does not = content.

So, to you n00bs, I suggest you go play some other MMOs, because in most of them grinding is only half of your journey.”

End Quote

I happen to be one of those players that have played several of these games and can’t recall a single one of them that grinding wasn’t almost all of the content. For Example:

Everquest – I ground out Ranger to Level 65, most of the grind I did was so that I would be high enough level to do my Epic quest. Also had to grind to a high enough toon as to be able to get the weapons, armor and spells to kill higher level CONTENT to grind out experience for even higher level content for even better Weapons etc . So grinding was a way of life in EQ.

Dark Age of Camelot – I ground out to a level 50 Warden, and even though the PVP in this game was alot of the content, you still had to grind out levels, so that you could get into the higher level mob areas, so that you could get better weapons armor and cash to buy armor and weapons. So again you had to grind most of the time to get what you needed to succeed as a toon.

City of Heroes – While being a Super Hero was fun for a while, I had to grind here and except for getting better powers there just was no content in this game, unless you call some of the silly missions content.

World of Warcraft: Only made it to level 25 here because I couldn’t take the boredom. Great cartoon graphic, my kids love this game because its easy and the Quest are pretty easy. But again You have to grind out levels to get the spells, armor and weapons to succeed in PVP.

Everquest 2 – I only kept EQ2 for the free period and dropped it because I didn’t like the combat, and it was almost too many quest just to level. But still, you have to grind to get the quest you need to succeed.

Guild Wars – Another that I only played for a short period of time because of gameplay, while the graphics are nice, good looks don’t make a game.

So as you see I do have experience in MMOs. And what I found is that you have to grind in these games to get the stuff you need to grind even better abd faster.

So, unlike what the fellow above said - “If you are an MMO n00b and your first experience of an MMO was this travesty of a game known as SWG, you think grinding = content.”

This Travesty as he calls it allows:

1.If you don’t like your profession, you can change it to another for however long you like. How many of the above games allow that?
2.Unlike most of the games above, most of the drops you get from Mobs are not better than what most good crafters can make , allowing for a real game economy.
3.How many of the games above allow you to build a home on a planet, thus owning a piece of property and even decorating it. ( I just feel like zoning out some days and decorating, heh) and if you call that space they give you in EQ2 fun to mess with , yuck.
4.How many of the games above actually support folks that just want to Craft or entertain? How many of the games above have an economy that would allow folks to just craft?

While I agree there are a lot of things in the game that need fixed, many of the games I listed are several years old and are still being REPAIRED, do you all realize the size and scope of a game like this?, above I just listed a few things that made this a game worth playing for me. If you played even half of the MMOs that I have you would see how big our world in SWG is, and its going to just get bigger, heck I didn’t even mention the space portion of this game.

Well, sorry for such a long post. But I like this world I get to remove myself to a few nights a week. And hope to continue for many years to come.
