I still cannot understand why some ppl even care if other players are jedi. It's their game since they put in the work they get jedi, sorry man since everyone wants to be jedi everyone is gonna work for jedi, which means if your jedi your not special. (As if you were anyway)

Reread my post, jedi are an alpha class and MUST be rare. If devs want them to be a common class then they must nerf them to balance the game. Its okay to have a few unbeatable players running around (all mmorpgs have them) but you cant have balance with so many.

Dont believe me ? Take a look at the war, remember the war ? Yes the war...the one we're supposed to fighting in ? Its been dead since jedi became common. Jedi threw off the balance of the war and so everyone stopped doing AH/Bestine raids.

Funny... before Jedi were in the game, people were complaining that the GCW was dead. Just go back and read the posts from June/July 2003. But, since you're on a hate Jedi kick, let's blame it on the Jedi. As someone else stated, the introduction of player cities killed the Anchorhead/Bestine raids, and that was long before the introduction of Jedi as well.

And even if someone isnt grinding to jedi, the pace is way too quick for normal grinding. Even Blizzard knew not to make their game too easy. It takes the average gamer over there 4-6 weeks to hit level 60. Here Ive watched guildies go from level 10 to 60 in one day on dantooine.

The people I know that have played WoW and returned to Star Wars say they quit because it was too easy, gotto 60 and nothing left to do.

For those who bought the game at launch and were in beta or read the forums back when devs participated, they'll recall jedi was rarely mentioned. It was understood by all that it wasnt really a goal to focus on because it wasnt something the majority would ever achieve. With that knowledge we set our sites on ranger, squad leader, pistoleer, etc Everyone knew going in that jedi was something a few lucky peeps would ever get. Boy that sure has long been forgotten.

I was at the launch, I was here for beta3, and the topic of Jedi was all over the place. No one I knew was resigned to the fact that only the lucky few would get it, they were determined to find the way. Many many theories were put forth, all of them much more complex than the truth as it turned out. Driving it all was the statement by the developers that everyone could become a Jedi, not just a lucky few.

And thats mainly why lotta vets have quit in disgust. They never intended to go jedi or ever expected them to be common and take over the war. And publish after publish went to jedi sealed the deal, especially for smugglers who waited to smuggle like the box advertised.

Again, inductive reasoning, you hate (new)Jedi so therefore any publish that has a Jedi change turns into 'a publish that went to Jedi.' Add the token smugglers getting to smuggle statement to try to get sympathy for your statements, doesn't make them any less self serving.

All I see here is another 'I have mine, now make it harder for everyone else to get it' post. Let's see:

Clikcy where you complain about people not getting to use methods to speed up exp gain. Of course, this is while you were grinding your Jedi, so obviously anything to speed it up would be acceptable back then.
Clicky Where you were also griping about no one participating in the AH/Bestine raids. Funny, no comment about Jedi this time... this time it's all about AH not having a starport. Again, a comment like, "anyone who was here since launch will tell you 99% of their friends list is gone." I've been here since launch, and over 75% of my frineds made within 2 months of launch are still here.
And my personal favorite, Clicky "Oh please, you're comparing SWG with the worst launch in mmorpg history to WoW ??? LOL, give me a break. Some BNet babies whine on a forum and that tells you the game is a disaster ? I dont think so..." But you somehow expect us to take you're whining on a forum to tell us what is wrong with this game? This says it all.

You make global assumptions that just because you feel a certain way, everyone does. You have different ideas about how hard something should be based on whether you're doing it or don't want someone else doing it. You try to use trigger phrases like 'smugglers getting to smuggle' and 'good old AH/Bestine battle days' to evoke emotional support in the absence of anything rational. It's hard to take anything you say seriously.

whine whine whine Jedi are the cause of all evil. Yea right. Just keep blaming jedi for the devs failings. JEdi is an alpha class we are now equal or sub par to a normal class. We grind about 30 million jedi xp on average to complete a full template. That means for every 5k xp we get 1k xp and we need 30million xp. A bh/cm/0004 pistoleer requires about a few million but they get 5-6k xp. So yes lets nerf jedi more! I love how people who are or claim to be jedi just like nerfing themselves. Smart people here.

You know what? I dont need to grind myself, soI agree.

Make everyone get 1xp per kill and quadruple the cost of all skill boxes, because this will somehow make the game better and I enjoy having no new players and thousands quitting.

As a point I dont need to grind, but this idea would cause no new players and almost all grinders to quit, and anyone who thinks a reduced player base is good is an idiot.

After talking to several new players in our guild, I realized its a huge mistake for SOE to repeal the xp nerf. Players once again have found ways around SOE's attempts to slow things down.

Players are now mastering and reaching level 80 a week after they bought the game...totally ridiculous. I many times have been asked obvious newbie questions which confused me because the player was level 80. Im thinking why is a vet lvl 80 asking me how to type in a waypoint or name a droid or what does food do ??? The answer is because these guys are similiar to buying an account ready-made off ebay. they have all the power of a veteran player but none of the knowledge.

And of course this also translates into faster jedi. Soon I see 75% of population being jedi (i believe its already 50% now). With so many jedi around, this creates even more issues with balance. Jedi being the alpha male class of this mmorpg MUST be rare. Otherwise balance issues creep up. You cant allow a majority of players to be more powerful than the rest. This is why every other mmorpg out there really doesnt have an alpha class. In the end, everyone wants it and strives for nothing else.

And SOE has nobody to blame but themselves and maybe Lucas. They saw the money WoW made and decided to focus their target market to appeal the WoW kiddies. And no offense but that generation is the entitlement crowd who feel they are owed a jedi account with the flawless pearls to go with it. They made the game dumbed down and easier to appeal to that market. Therefore they reap what they sow. Now we have a majority of immature players hel bent on getting jedi. And this is creating a snowball effect. The few remaining non-jedi vets are quitting enmass disgusted with these new players.

And with these kids being a majority, SOE had to bow down to them and give up the much needed xp nerf. What did they expect after several weeks of double xp, free grind on ryatt trail, and no visibility for grouping.

Most folks look at the hologrind of december 03 as the start of the end for this game. I disagree, the xp nerf is whats going to finish the game. You simply cant allow an alpha class to be common for the sake of balance. And making the game so easy only means everyone gets bored and quits that much faster. mmorpgs are meant to be a long-term solution to gamers who want more than a game they beat in 3 days. For some reason, that basic rule in mmorpgs has been lost with this fast-food generation and SOE has bent over to them.

I dont agree.. Grinding is the worse Idea of this game ever, and its boring. They should give a quest based professiosn, SO I say , increase XP even more... Killing the same things over and over dont make any sence.

i was actually cool with the nerf. well. not such a deep cut. id say cut jedi xp in half. not 150 per kill. 500 is do able. the thing is, people want it (like mbhs killing jedi) easier, faster simpler. Star wars as a whole have too many fans and the game wont sink that much becuase there will always be new people who dont know the dif in old xp vs new. they should have kept it i say. and i was just a padawan. but you know the truth. the ONLY thing now in getting jedi that will set you a part and above the others is if you tear the mouthy whiners up in pvp. let them call exploit. who cares if they live or die. I wouldnt. they mean nothing to me. ive never seen them or met them so their existence in this world to me is nothing i care about. i dont feel sorrow for them. i dont care about them. and thats how i feel about it. jedi was supposed to be very difficult to get. and even tho i enjoy my jedi, im not special, cuz there are jedi everywhere. the good old days when there werea few were much better.

But on xp yeah. 150 was too steep. 500 would have been better cuz we top off at like 900+ or so. even between 500 and 900.

for regular profs, well, i guess 4k max would slow quite a bit. plus the village changed combat xp.

Personnally i think sony lost control of lucas arts original idea.

That statement is the saddest thing about MMORPGs.

(Edit: Should have guessed you were a MBH, imagine that.)

you know. if sony REALLY thought about it, cutting xp some more = more time and more money.

so, if they cant see that, they REALLY dont know whats going on, cuz they can still get more money by cuttin xp

see the beauty of that statement is...

I LIKE it. i LIKE the animosity between jedi and mbhs. i dont want a care bear love between us. Plus i have TRIED to post a unification bond between old and new jedi and i ended up getting flamed. so as far as im concerned forget them as i care NOTHING about those who dont want the unity. our problem should be againsed mbhs, we should come together, but nooo...i had an old school jedi "TRY" yeah buddy you "TRIED" to rip my post and i HOPE you try it agian, theres ALOT more from where that came from. Anyway and it was a post about giving encouragement to my other post cu jedi buds and how well get on top again eventually (about bounty hunters tearing us up due to poor crystal drops, no frs, no bonuses etc). He was just one. there were a few that also actually supported me. then the mbhs, thats a whole new story. they dont care about jedi period unless they got a jedi alt.

and for someone who said the 16 year old wanted to pwn everyone. heh. well. all i can say is this is NOT xbox or ps2 playing againsed a computer. when you pvp you will be sadly mistaken because you will get USED. you will probably have no clue as to how to pvp because youll automatically think that pvp is the same as pve. this person willprobably whine about mbhs killing them because they are a jedi and they should "PWN" (i really HATE that retarted word.)

So, he will quit soon enough. another bad thing about players like that is they are the ones who will submit multiple exploit tickets because they got tore up, never been to planets like endor, and only know jedi grind and send hate tells to mbh based on ignorant statements because they may not know what they are doing in the first place. yeah. hell fall on his face.

Consistently I have seen that there are two schools of thought on this issue and are directly affected by your experience in MMOs.

If you are an MMO n00b and your first experience of an MMO was this travesty of a game known as SWG, you think grinding = content.

If you have played virtually any other MMO out there you know our dev team is the all time laziest with the craziest ideas of what constitutes content and believe grinding does not = content.

So, to you n00bs, I suggest you go play some other MMOs, because in most of them grinding is only half of your journey.

You are wrong. Most MMOs content IS grinding. Of course they'll call it farming, gearing up, keying, flagging or what ever else the mind numbingly repetive process is called.

Just becuase it's not for XP doesn't mean it isn't grinding.

Becoming a jedi is kind of like what people do to others that just started on a new job. they send them on quests that dont exists or have no meaning....ie...go and get me a 2x4 stretcher. When the noob goes and asks another forman for one, the foreman says, left handed or right handed? the noob goes back to the first forman to get an answer,I need the left handed joe. what r u an idiot? only a rookie would use a right handed one. Back to the second forman the noob goes and tells the other forman, left handed....the second foreman says....oh, the electricians got that one. dumbdeedumbdumb.....off goes the noob on another pointless quest....

Xp is far too easy to get. The problem is they went too far too fast. It should have been a gradual change so they would not have gone too far with it.

so in other words you want to lokc the game down, make it so only power gamers have the time to play this game. Grinding is not content. A lot of people do not have the time to play for hours on hours end, we have lives, jobs, school. Besides who cares, just lets us play and have fun, you can feel superior later casue your done grinding.

the XP rate is fine in CU, if this was pre CU it should be brought back to rep CU XP rates where a Jedi could solo a lair w/o 10 minute force regen after !
