Thread: Remove alot of the Jedi by disabling visibility from NPC's
It doesnt promote reduced sightingshowever. Instead it would reward players who are on the terminals for whatever reason.

You are right, I didn't get it at first. That's why I made a second post.

Sorry but I just cant agree with this.
If you want to not be bothered with Forced PvP, Bounty Hunters etc... drop all your Force skills and pick up non-Jedi professions again.
Think of playing a Jedi in SWG as having your difficulty mode on 'hard' while everyone else plays on 'easy'. Frankly I'm surprised that an old vet like you posted this.
I welcome Bounty Hunter attacks, they're exciting. I love a good fight against a good BH. And I especially love a quick fight against a bad BH.
The best... running from a trash-talking, jerky BH and making him waste all that time and resources.
You did not get my post at all I see. I could care less about forced pvp. I talk about the Jedi overpopulation and a players ability to fight it without the need of stopping to play the game completely.
I still like my idea.
Jedi's reward for winning BH fight should be 24 hours off the terms.
I completely agree with the points that MsNil is making.. To grind and/or play aJedi vis-free means to give up ALL regular game content as it all means killing NPC's. However I do agree with some of the other posters in that removing all vis from NPC's is a bad idea.
A compromise is quite obviously needed.. Perhaps reduction (not necessarily even removal)of visibility garnered from dungeon and quest-related NPC's (the ones you go there on purpose to kill!) would satisfy the point MsNil is making. Full visibility from static spawn, random spawn, and mission-generated NPC's should stay in effect, or even be increased to compensate.
They've removed all all other hinderances and penalties of being a Jedi. This seems like the logical next step. Then we can get rid of the player bounties on Jedi. For players that despise Jedi and those that play them this thread gives inspiration to us all that Jedi will continue to destroy themselves. ![]()

The story: I was away from the game for quite some time, long enough to completely drop from the terminal. When I started to go back to the game, I thought I should try to keep myself off for as long as I could. A friend was finishing up her Jedi, so I spent some time grinding with her. I started to group with her and experienced the first time the feeling of being able to grind together with friends without bothering about visibility.
A week passed, weekend came along, and I was still not on the terminal. As always, however, it was decided to do some general pve. We wanted entrance to the Blackscale Compound so me and my guild fought down to the bottom of Ryatt Trail. On the second level there's alot of crazed rodians that must be defeated. And becouse of doing that, I was back on the terminal, even if I up to this point was very careful about my visibility.
Back on the regular planets again, there was nothing more I could do but equipping my lightsaber and start running my enhancer macros, lightning drop from my heels, infusion flashing, a globe of light showing everybody I have forcearmor on, and the lightsaber safely in my hand. From being invisible for a whole week, I was again a fully visible lightshow for people to bother about. Becouse I had participated in game content, while being careful to not be seen by a single player and now I must protect myself becouse of that.
And this got me thinking of something I only vaguely mentioned before.
Only players bother about visibility, and people say "if you dont want to get hunted, dont be seen". Ofcourse, that option means not playing the game at all, and all Jedi know that, becouse practically every pve mission out there involves killing NPC's. And once you are on the terminal, you need to protect yourself, so again you are the very lightshow people hate.
What would happen if NPC's was disabled from the visibility system, is that visibility suddenly becomes an option. You are still able to participate in almost all of the game's content. But you can also do so freely, without a single player seeing you and bother about it. Unlike the players, no NPC care if you are a glowbat wielding lightshow or not.
What would happen is that alot of Jedi start to find themselves rewarded for staying out of sight from other players. This is, as far as I concern, one of the greatest ways to heavily reduce the sightings of Jedi out there, thereby seemingly reducing the Jedi population.
PvP in a player city =You are a player nuisance, Get hunted
Not be seen by players beyond your grouped friends = You are one less Jedi according to other players, Walk free

It's not so much about the Jedi. It's aboutpeople screaming their lungs out about the "Jedi overpopulation problem".

I don't think the Devs would even consider changing Vis at this point. It took a lot of gripin to get group vis taken off, and I think that's as far as they're going to go with it.
They're going to tell you the same thing. "You knew about vis when you decided to become Jedi and that's the way it is"

Yes, the Robe needs to go, ofcourse.

*sigh* You can lead them to water but you can't make them drink it.
The selling point for the Devs is the idea that it would reduce the Jedi numbers in public view and reduce the complaining by players who don't like seeing Jedi running around everywhere. The Jedi standing around Coronet or Theed would be drawing ALL the heat from BH while those who were out playing the game in relative seclusion with just a group of 8 or less would be out of the public eye.
There is no doubt that the devs ARE looking for a solution to reduce Jedi sightings by non Jedi while not driving those Jedi players into nerfing SOE's bottom line.

Yes, the Robe needs to go, ofcourse.
I wouldnt mind if I got Recon Armor and my 1h lightsaber line would offer me accuracy/speed to be used with regular 1h weapons. Ofcourse, I would not be great, butit could allow me to "mask" as an average fencer if I had to do a pve mission in a city.
humm, I wouldnt agree with the armor though
I like The Idea that we cant wear armor(maybe its just me lol) Anyway.. Great Idea, Lets keep this post up and maybe somone from SOE will read
PS: You Still get my pack of Brazilian Beer![]()
