Thread: want to confirm, issue with lag at the point of Bounty attack.
first off heres the simptoms in order of how they happen
Blue dot on radar
ping rises to around 500ms - 3000ms
lag becomes unplayable
blue dot turns red
game frezes
death blow is delt from bounty hunter. (no idea when game is froze still)
dot dissaperes
game resumeds normal avg ping
you clone / regain consisness / use hero ring / player rez
you "/say ????"
simptoms end.
if anyone has had exsactly the same simptoms here, just say so try not to go off topic here, can't count the number of flames in with the actual accounts.

The previous post about players possibly spamming requests that would induce client side responses got me wondering:
What ifsomeone wrote a recursive macro that looped /examine with no delay? Aren't the biographies stored client side, and the /examine command would send a request tothetarget'scomputer to retrieve that biography? At the very least, wouldn't /findfriend require a check on the target's computer to see if he's on the buddy list? Wouldn't the result be a huge packet jam on the target, like a denial of service spam attack? Granted, this would also cause a great deal of lag on the requestor's side, but he wouldn't necessarily have to be the attacker and instead could be a third party assisting.
One thing I noted that was a bit different about the particular bounty hunter of which I speak is that he travels with a buddy, who usually cheers him on. This person could the denial of service assistant. I don't have any hard evidence, but the association with this bounty hunter's attack and sudden onset of huge lag with a number of differentjedi is too coincidental to be dismissed. It could be something as innocent as the animations of the debuffs, but since I play first person, I don't see animations on myself, and we couldn't replicate the lag in dueling tests with other combat medics using the same debuffs.
Can anyone test this? I am at work, and I am curious what impact this kind of macro would have on the target's performance. It's sad that we can think like this, but there are immature jerks out there that would do anything to "win".
Slowing the world around them down.

Ohh wow! Ok this happend to me last sat. I went from 150 ping (normal) to 400 ping and 5% Packetloss and about 20 mins later was attacked by a BH. Died. When I would knock him down he would "slide" about 30m away. I could never get close enough to hit him, and his attacks on me seemed to stack up and show all at once. The lag went away about 30-50 minutes later.
They have opened their Lag Sensative slot

Maybe the BH's were given a stealth patch giving them a LAG attack

I have noticed a major lagg increase every time I get attacked. It is so bad that after 30 minutes I just end up runnning because it is so frustrating. Nearly every hit is "Too Far" even after kd and root. The other day I had a BH beat... health almost gone, no action and no mind and I kd him... easy kill right? I mean he can't get up because he has no action. Wrong! Not only was he up, he healed himself too just as my head hit cancelled and he's shooting me from 20m away.I ran away frustrated.
This only happens during BH attacks though. I can PVP or duel just fine... I can even navigate the lagg outpost just fine. I think this is defenately a bug in the BH/Jedi code.
A similer problem is when they go down and as you prepere to DB them, they slide away.

- Launchpad has a warning about the illegal use of 3rd party applications
- Roving bands of credit grinders (these are the groups of neutral "grinders" in noob clothes that warp around doing missions insanely fast . . .by using 3rd party application)
- Sudden increase in lag

some complain of these lag issues...some dont.
I am beginning to think that ISP's may be the issue.
the truth is most broadband connections are poorly configured for gaming. and the network settings on most home computers are not adjusted at all by the users to help make up for this.
doublecheck this first. if you are certain that it isnt an inadequatevideo card, system RAM, or your connection/settings then you should look toward finding out if an exploit of some sort was used.
These may be very valid points. Care to give a mini-tutorial for setting up broadband for gaming?

Have noticed a big increase in lag since last two patches. Also huge lags when i open an inventory or data pad for the first time in the game. Actually timed it to over 4 seconds per frame. This is rediculous becuase never had it before and when the battle can be over in 3 alot of jedi are loosing massive points because of bad programming.
Well, I've had this for about the last ten publishes, especially trying to open the safe deposit box and transfer items back and forth. The lag has been so bad that I can't grab an item and drag it without attempting to do so at least 20 times.
This isn't the issue that they are complaining about here though. It's a matter of lag during a BH attack and appears to be a very discrete lag issue-I can't verify it, but it really sounds like an exploit.
