This has been an ongoing issue and is, IMO, exploiting. It's been explained in the past, so I won't do it again for the BH's watching. /Report the BH, and ALWAYS take Screenies when your ping jumps by such large amounts.

To avoid this:

  • Reduce your graphic and sync requirements in the Launchpad.

  • Reduce your graphic and sync requirements in-game. Viewdetail, blending, andeven your view distances (while keeping it in PVP range, 150m).

  • Leave your Jpeg quality high to catch the culprit.

  • Keep your shadows set to simple. For some reason you can see their shadows before they are visible sometimes.

It's sad to think that because of exploiters we have to change our settings, but that's the only way I've stopped this. BTW, I've gotten the "Do you get lag?" tell, answered "Oh yeah" baiting them and then received the hate tells after I DB'd the BH. I haven't seen him on since, so maybe my /report did do something.

Just keep reporting them and making posts on the CSR forums. I'm not sure if how this was explained previously was accurate, but it sounds like it was an exploit tactic and the CSR's were aware of it.

Just curious, if you have a firewall that can check incoming traffic, see if right before the bh attack if there is a large number of pings or activity from non-soe domains. Seems like with a tracer program you could use a third party program (aka not SWG) to find your target's computer and make it lag to oblivion. Just a thought as something to investigate on your computer for those of you who have had a problem.

This game works on a client-server system. Your computer will only connect to the SWG servers and nothing else. A player will never have anything close to another player's IP address unless they hack into SWG's servers, which would probably be detected. Would be quite silly to risk jail time just to kill someone in a game.

Most companies don't publicize hacks, so maybe you'd be surprised at what teenagers will risk, and get away with.

some complain of these lag issues...some dont.
I am beginning to think that ISP's may be the issue.
the truth is most broadband connections are poorly configured for gaming. and the network settings on most home computers are not adjusted at all by the users to help make up for this.
doublecheck this first. if you are certain that it isnt an inadequatevideo card, system RAM, or your connection/settings then you should look toward finding out if an exploit of some sort was used.

I was having major issues with my ISP (Broadban Connection) I spent several hours on the phone with them. SWG would lag into the thousands, this would last 30 sec to a few minutes, When I told the ISP that I could best verify the lost connection in SWG due to network monitorthey claimed that "those gaming servers are very unstable and not reliable". I spent several weeks trying to prove the issue was with them, finally the right person listened and replaced cable modem and cleared right up.

The point I am trying to make is although I do not doubt players are exploiting third party software to lag/speed hack the game there are times when ISP issues as well as SWG lag make this game unplayable, Neither side will admit that the issue is thiers!

I am not just targeting ISP techs here, the SWG team is equally useless in this area.

Also the first thing I do when I log in is open my data pad and wait the 5 to 10 seconds for it freeze to clear.

If anyone who knows and can verify that it helps, please post the tweaks to the settings.

I've lost one time cause of lag. I have also seen some people get Load Killed at starports and Cloaning stations.

So many stupid people are still alive because it is illegal to kill them.

This used to be a common occurence for me.

I would receive a lag spike which would lock up my connection to SWG when a BH would come withint range of me. I contributed it to their spamming macros. I have had been attacked 5 times+ in the same second when this happens - clearly an issue with the client.

The lag now is not nearly as bad as before. I think less BHs are using macros other then the ones who are attempting to exploit the servers abaility to recognize a valid request. This is how they and EVERYONE else is able to pull off the same attack in concession of each other adn often 3-4 times in one second. Alot of players are using this...

One question: How much RAM do you have installed on your PC?

the lag has been very bad had two bh this weekend and it was tough, beat one and had to run from the other after 15min. from now on i think i will just run. guys in my group say my health was down to near nothing but still looked good to me and a few seconds later it drops. if it wasn't for them watching my health i would have died both times.

When you get alot of lagg just when a BH appears, have you checked their names or guildtags? I mean if it happens several times without a reason with different Bh then if it is an exploit(?) maybe they have sent it to their friends and guildies?

Maybe im justtrying make a hen out of feathers?

I've seen some bad lag the last few weeks, but not specific to BHs. If there's a BH there you may just notice it (a lot) more.

I had to rez a buddy last night. He didn't see the BH until after he was taking damage. He tried to run and cloak, but apparently the lag delayed everything about the attack. He was dead before he really knew what was going on. This is a fully-templated paddy that hadn't been having problems with BH attacks for some time.

I fought a BH this weekend on Bria, Lok, outside Nym's starport. (500m) He was a BH/CM and a tought fight. I ended up winning via triple incap because of the lag with his heals and the KD recovery bug. What I did notice lately was whenever I try to open my in game mail. (E for my keymap) it'll lock the game for 5-15 seconds and them open up the mail. I tried deleting the mail but I was still getting the mail lag.

I don't know if it only happens with BH, but it seems lately the lag has become unbearable in some places. Theed, Bestine, Lok in general (on Bria) and Talus in general. Didn't have any problems on Endor or Yavin. Of course, I'm on Bria, so lag might just be a common thing, not relating to BH.
