Thread: Hey I don't like PVP
Gully311 wrote:I don't know why anyone who doesn't like PvP becomes a Jedi.
Because there is zero left in the game to do. Jedi is everyones endgame now.
Even being a rebel or imperial you can choose to pvp. I got Jedi 2 months ago. I never pvp'd before then. I played the game, having fun, doing PvE and turned in my xp as it came by. Mainly started doing the village cause it was new content.
So, now I have to pvp because I'm a jedi? I dont remember reading anywhere when I became a jedi that my life of PvE was over and I was to walk into the PvP arena. I became jedi because it was available to me. Not because I wanted to PvP.

It's called "Not being a jedi"
Not sure I agree.
Jedi is now a nerfed profession, balanced up to other professions, so all kinds of PvP should be the same. That means it should be possible being a active jedi without any kinds of forced PvP; like BHs.
I love the PvP, but there are little things that annoy me.
I was in the middle of nowhere, had RL things to attend to, so I pitched a camp, sat down, and logged out. Yes, I checked my radar...but clearly not well enough.
So, of course, I re-logged in a cloner with -450k XP....
It was my fault, I'm an idiot, a loser, and all that...but it still didn't seem quite right. No...I'm not asking for changes...I'm just saying that being a hunted Jedi can be a bit irritating sometimes. It is likeliving ina game of chess...you always have to be hyper-paranoid and can never take anything for granted. Most of the BH I've dealt with are honorable, but a few just want the money and will gladly kill an LDer.
But maybe that is what keeps it fun after all this time...

Can you guys give me and people like me a no-pvp switch, one time choice, and send cool NPC's after me instead. I'd have more fun then. PVP people can go deal with the trash talking idiots, and I'll have fun in my own little world...
Ok I'll stop dreaming.
Until they make such a switch Esta, do what I've always done (Even though I like PvP). The secret is in two little options /Report and /addignore. It will make your game time alot more pleasant. Also assuming that you have the expansion and are full template, Kashyyyk is pretty well done for quests etc. and I love Space personally even though I haven't mastered piloting yet. Weigh your options and ignore the children i/g and on the forums. But although you don't like PvP, you must realize that the plans for a Force Ranking System was originally drafted to reward PvP Powerhouse players... will you try to ascend beyond Knight? The system may be against you moreso than it is now when the FRS finally comes.

i agree with you. Just because i unlocked jedi doesnt mean i want to play games with those type of people nor should i have to. I dont play and pay for this game to have to deal with trash talking immature kiddies that have no sportsmanship. i play for me and for my enjoyment. And as soon as SOE realises that alot more players in this game feel the same then this game will become a better place, which honestly i think they do and it will.

Correct. The vast majority of Jedi are pvp'ers to the core. It is the whole reason to go to Jedi. There is no justifiable reason to either promote or expect players of SWG to not have a Jedi. It is the way the game is designed. Instead what should happen is Vis should be changed in such a way as to allow Jedi to actually hide in game if they choose towithout having to abandon any hope of participating in any of the games content.

Nah there needs to be some discouragement to stop everyone wanting to be a Jedi, and forced pvp discourages a lot of people. All Jedi know they will have to pvp - it's in the job description.
The direct opposite is true. Forced pvp and a pvp rewarding system is what encouraged most of the current Jedi to become one.
Disable pvp 100% from Jedi, and you will see them drop like flies.

Ok, I see the point you guys are trying to make. Why would Mokk cavemen on Dantooine call up the Empire and say 'Hey there's a Jedi out here!"

You do realize that if SOE removes forced-pvp they will remove even more of our power. If they intended on bringing back our pearls, they will stop. Since Jedi don't need better pearls if they aren't forced to pvp anymore... SOE might remove forced-pvp and will be happy to be able to nerf the Jedi to a combat level equivalent of 0.1
i believe the opposite is true. I think the reason jedi got nerfed to be 1.5x greater than any other profession is because of the pvp. SOE had to give other professions a chance to stand up to a jedi. Remove manditory pvp from the equation and they wouldnt need to nerf us at all and they could give us hard hitting sabers.

They wouldn't.
BUT on the other hand, 'abandoning hope of participating in any content' is a little extreme no? You just have to watch your back. Which is what Jedi are supposed to do.
