Thread: You aren't supposed to play your Jedi 100% of the time

what i don't understand is why the "old school jedi" cry about how easy it is to get jedi now.... IT ISN'T the process is longer if anything, and more involving. sure it's not as involving as it should or could be but it's more so than it was pre COMBAT UNGRADE.

example

/macro express: opens the game and begins crafting.... runs till server shut down while u go to work and out to get drinks that night... then when you wake up in the morning you start the macro again... if you are not master already....

this was beyond easy for any profession... and after the release of the genosian bunker the combat professions could be used to finish combat templates the same way... profs could be done in less than 5 days times 31 relevant professions 155 days. TOPS

new system, 18 weeks MINIMUM.

i have been around since launch and though i do think the game has been nerfed to oblivion, it has been done to every class that has been over used... it is not jedi alone. my advice to people is to get used to it, nothing will change... SOE has had since EQ1 to set policy, and they continue to use the same policies that they have kept ever since... the only way things will change is when lucas pulls the rights away and gives it to someone else.... but guess what.... then we all have to start over. you thinkSOE will give their characters away? hahaha no.

anywho... just some thought that came to my head when i read this thread, mostly ranting or jabbering like an old man.

Is this another pre-pub 9 Jedi knew how to do it right and now all you other people are noobs even though you have been playing since launch too posts?

I'm so sick of these. No one cares if you were a pre-pub 9 Jedi, how you played back then, or the risks you had. The only people that care are yourselves, and you think you are somewhat special. (This doesn't go for all pre-pub 9 Jedi, because I have actually met some nice ones ((hard to believe, I know))). Just face up to the facts that this is a different game now. If someone wants to put on the Jedi Robe and master Dancer and dance all day that is their choice. If they want to sit in Theed and PvP all day that is their choice. If you feel that after unlocking Jedi which takes about 1 zillion and 1 Bols/Gurks/Pikets/etc, you want to just play it for 1 hour a day then so be it. But please don't try and push your views on us. We don't care. We really don't.

I won't be one of those people that is like /worship because you are pre-pub 9 or whatever. Be it hologrinding or Village, we all unlocked and we can do what we want.

I'm not saying I respect those Jedi that make themselves stick out like a sore thumb, but if thats what they want to do, how can you tell them they are wrong?

You know what's funnyis, once again, I said nothing deragatory towards "any" Jedl players, but more or less was reminiscing about the old system, and what the Devs have done to it over time.

I do find it very interesting though, how hyper-defensive some post-9, CU Jedi are, quick to shoot down anything from the past as if it were a personal attack on them.

The truth is, I could could care less how you play your Jedi. That was not the point of my post. It was merely a rememberance for some of us who've been here a long time (As Jedi), of what it was once like.

If talking about the past offends you, THEN DON'T READ IT, and certainly don't comment, becuase all you do is show your lack of ettiqute, education, and maturity, by coming off like some little smart-aleck know-it-all.

It's obvious you don't have any respect for other players that were there before you, and hell, why should you, you got Jedi handed to you on a silver platter.

Enjoy!

But, at least let some of us who remember what it was like, talk about, without you getting your panties in a wad, becuase you weren;t able to share in the expereince with us.

I'm glad you're happy with your little sloppy second Jedi toon, now get out my thread you arroagant ignoramus.

Sorry, but the lack of maturity that some people's kids continue to show in this game, is quite frankly almost more than I can take.

If you don't like the thread, (which wasn't slamming anyone but the Devs), go read your "Arthur visits the Zoo" book.

this is true. when jedi was first introduced, and first started popping up, the devs stated their intention was to only play the jedi every so often, but most of the time you would still play your main character..hence the term "main" character. thats why jedi was a seperate character and had perma death.

however, they also burnt that bridge when they changed jedi to be the main character. now the only reason you get a second slot with jedi is because the old players got one and its all to keep the balance. now that the main character is a jedi, the devs seem to have backpedeled out of their statment about which character you should be on more

Bingo.

I'm a post-cu Jedi in case it matters to anyone.

I think it was the title of your post that started the friction. If your real intent was to remember your glory days then you should have probably entitled this post "For you pre-cu jedi or pre pub 9 jedi do you remember how things were?" or something like that. Instead you used a statement of your own opinion of how things should be it looks like to me. You had to have know with such a title that this would have sparked an old school vs newschool war or i should say lovers of old school vs old schoolers that didnt love the old school and new school.

Too often players and the devs have a mindset that professions should be balanced with 1 on 1 pvp in mind. This mindset is ruining the game. The benchmark for balance should be determined by the role a profession plays in a group setting. As long as the current mindset continues we will never see uniqueness among the professions, nor will we ever see individuality within a given profession. We will never see the SWG universe expanded as the focus will only ever be balance pass after balance pass after balance pass.

Only because some people suffer from a lack of reading comprehension.Thats is obvious by some of the responses here to a very well written post.

You pretty much lost me when your topic implies that there is a rule for how much I play the character that I have spent 2.5 years developing

Good example here.Did this person have the attenbtion span to even read the original post?

And yet another person who compltely missed the point of the post, probably becuase they were either unable, or to lazy, to read the whole thing.

It was alot more like having a Ferrari in the garage, that you would take for a spin occasionally, it wasn't the car you drove to work everyday.

Not.

P.S. For the record, the topic of the post was not my opinion, but that of another poster on a seprate thread. I didn't title my post for the learning impaired, sorry.
