Cancel: As to the comment about the EU not saying anything about different types of lightsabers, this is not true. In the Jedi Academy trilogy, Gantoris built a ligtsaber that was different- you could switch it to make it longer or shorter. If you read I, Jedi, Corran Horn also made a lightsaber of variable lengths, with more than one crystal.

Vashner - I explained why I put that there. I interpreted that the Jedi would be able to weild all three lightsabers at first, and be given a few basic skills, which more of a concentration on each as you advanced. It may not be done that way, but I interpreted it as that in this thread.

TheRealChriss - I'm assuming that lightsaber construction is granted in the saber combat trees. You'll notice that the descriptions of the earliest saber tree talks about construction. Remember, I just transcribed these things onto a plausible tree. There were only commands for me to use, no schematics, so I didn't add them in myself.

homemaker - Number one, I didn't make this junk up off the top of my head. You know very little about Star Wars. There are many different types of lightsabers in the EU including light daggers, one handed light sabers, double edged sabers (which is what the moves are for actually, I'm not sure why they its called a polearm saber, and there ARE infact very rare occurances of a real pole-arm saber in which the actual lightsaber blade is positioned at the end of a long shaft, however despite the names of the moves they are actually for a double edged saber like what Darth Maul uses in Episode I.

REMEMBER: I did not make this stuff up. It was supposedly extracted from the games .TRE files by the person by the name of KGJV on these message boards. You can find the list that I used to make the trees here: http://upload.justtalk.net/files/swg-jedi-update.txt

I'd like everyone posting on this thread to know:

This speculation is based off of the KGJV's findings. I didn't make it up. A lot of people believe that this is an actual list of the in-game Jedi moves. I had reason for constructing these trees, I didn't do it on some flighty whim of fantasy.

Why don't you naysayers who are telling me I wasted my time on speculation check out these two threads before you pass ignorant judgement on something to which you don't have all the facts.

Nice effort !

Couple of points: I think Force Choke would be lower in the skill tiers because we see Luke us this ability in RotJ and he's not a master yet.

Actually, I wasn't sure where to put it until I saw the description of force choke. It says 'Force choke allows a Jedi Master ....'

So I'm guessed that is where it goes.

Also, if I'm reading your arrangement correctly, dual bladed usewould berequired for Jedi Master? Iguess I don't believe this since we see many masters in AotC and not one of them uses a duel blade. I think the weapon use maybe lumped into one branch rather than split into various weapons.

Actually, this is the exact reason why I put the two other types of /saberhit1 attacks in the beginning tree. I felt like SOE would not choose to pigeon hole a person wanting to become a Jedi master into using certain types of sabers if they just wanted to use a one handed saber. So while the later tree's deal with learning moves for specific lightsabers, I believe that most likely they will still just require a standard saberexperience. In other words as you become more skilled with sabers, those moves open up, but you can still use a one handed saber if you want to. I could be wrong though.

Any self-respecting SW fan knows lightsabers have no weight, therefore the concept of a "heavy" lightsaber is utter BS. That's why the Force is required to wield a lightsaber correctly, since a normal, non-sensitive person wouldn't be able to handle them with the graceful movements they require. In other words, they need the Force to "know" where the blade is. Imagine having a 9 inch long stick with an imaginary prolongation of it in one end. Then imagine yourself fighting efficiently with it without losing limbs. Yeah, that's pretty much how it is.

They may be simply referring to the hilt, (that is what I assumed when I read it, because I also understand that lightsabers holdno weight)which would definitely effect the fighting style. Try fighting two swords of same length with different length (or weight)hilts and you'll know what I'm talking about.

a very in-depth hypothesis indeed, im sure the devs are quite impressed with usplayers being able to figure SOME things out on our own.

Joshai,

Thanks for taking the time to parse that file text into something more manageable.

Yes, close enough to the real think!

Though I should add one more think I iam just guessing like everyone else but, don't you think to learn force lighitng and other darkside moves............

Wouldn't you get darkside exp???So thats how you fall to the darkside like the devs talk about how it will be your choice....

So evertime you use forcelighting you get regular jedi exp along side with dark jedi exp so you can advance to another skill tree like having to learn apprentice ship exp for example to become matster but, instead you are getting dark jedi exp to become a dark jedi?

If this doesn't make sense does it make sense at all?

Joshai, thanks for the compliment.

I love what you did, and this is what I was going to do until I just got lazy

I think you have a couple skills in the wrong place... I believe, just from the notes, that the 2h hit that you say is gotten at the start is gotten in the second tree, and the polearm in the third tree.

Although, it's all speculation. Congratulations for doing what I was just too lazy to do Good work.

Erm, I saw what you said about it. Sorry, I didn't actually fully read the personal notes until after what I said.

I'm agreeing with you now, heh. It makes more sense.

Congrats, Joshai. I find nothing at all wrong with your skill tree (exept you left out the saber throw abilities;just because it wasn't in the recent patch doesn't mean it isn't a part of the tree). I don't understand why some of the people on this forum are taking your hard work and spitting it right back at you. I think it is flawed only minorly, seeing as how noone acually knows what it looks like. I always thought it would be much more complicated that just anormal skill tree.

There was one issue that is worth clearing up, someone said:

"but where are the trees that deal with saber crafting?"

You don't nessesarily need skills in order to craft an object. In fact, Luke did just the opposite when he built his green saber in RoTJ. He used Obi-Wan's Journal to do it; he was a Jedi Knight, and he still had no clue how tocreate a light saber without Obi-Wan's Journal.

Thisreminds me of a Rebel Quest that I had done not too far back. My mission was to take three components this one rebel gave me, merge them into one big part via crafting (for an A-Wing prototype), and deliver the part to some other rebel. I didn'thave a schematicto make the thing for the A-Wing until I got the mission. After I crafted it, the schematic dissapeared from my data pad.

Maybe your Jedi Teacher gives you a schematic when he feels you're ready to make your own lightsaber. Then you collect your parts, craft them into a lightsaber (you probably won't be able to craft it via 'General Crafting Tool', either; you'll need to make it by hand somehow), and poof goes the schematic just like in my Rebel Mission.
