Thread: Shameful... (Read this and SUPPORT the devs)

It's very easy to see where to lay blame for any issues. Lucasarts provides the direction for this game, and right now the direction is not only up in the air, they can't even tell us how up in the air it is. SOE DOES know how to run a game. They aren't perfect, and they should shoulder their side of the blame too. But my God, people... leave Tiggs alone. If you had a problem with your government and how they did things, would you level charges like this against the press correspondent, and leave the President/Premier/Prime Minister blameless? (Not a political rant at all, just a matter of comparison)
Tiggs and TH tell us what they can. They tell our Jedi correspondent what they can, and he tells us what he's allowed. The fact that there is precious little info reflects on how the powers-that-be feel about their customer base. We are all sheep, we are all mindless, and as long as we pay our monthly fees they can continue to either be proactive in their nerfing and reactive in their bug-fixing once it's hit the breaking point.

i'll be more likely to bend over backwards for someone who comes in politely asking for something beyond the norm/policy or making a complaint. having this knowledge also makes me a satisfied customer everywhere i shop.
umm i'm a pre-cu jedi also and i did grind at the geo caves sometimes .. the difference is you get hunted and ALOT and lose a ton of exp instead of doing it afk at some spawn.

Yes we have every right to be extremely angry and frustrated at SOE.
This however, does not grant anyone the right to viciously attack and insult individuals. To do so is childish and shameful.
By all means, let your frustrations be heard, but direct them towards the people in charge not those who have the unfortunate job of being the public face for the company. And just try to be civil. As an ex-CSR myself, I can guarantee you that you will get alot further being civil. Shouting & being rude or agressive towards the person you are asking to help you will get you nowhere. It makes no sense.
Finally I just want to repeat a fact that alot of the posters have missed. THIS POST IS NOT ABOUT THE BUGS/NERFS, STATE OF THE THE GAME OR THE LACK OF COMMUNICATION FROM SOE. IT IS ABOUT BEING CIVILISED AND RESPECTFUL TO ANOTHER HUMAN BEING!

Insulting someone just because you disagree with them is exactly what I am talking about.
I have some time to kill in my day, so I figure I'll wade in on the discussion.
I for one don't support or hate the developers of this game. I pay my fees to play, and I expect to get from them a certain level of service for the productI am buying from them. I try not to let my emotions get the best of me, because I don't live to play the game. I live my life outside the game, and I pay to play and have fun. Some days, I have to walk away from the game because I'm not having any fun and I start getting frustrated. If I was to become completely fed up with the way things are going, I would cancel my subscription and walk away. Caveat Emptor: I know some people hate that phrase, but unless you're dealing with government regulated industry or the business is blatantly breaking the laws of the land, that is the motto a consumer needs to live by.
We as the client base have certain rights to be treated with respect by the people trying to hold our business, and they have the responsibility towards us as loyal customers to try and meet our expectations. Will they meet the expectation of each and every one of us out there? Not by a long shot. But if the development team and their managers produce a game that falls within the bounds of tolerance for most of the player base, then they are succeeding at meeting some of theirresponsibility towards their player base and towards the business they are trying to run.
Everyone has the right to be upset, and I think it is our fundamental right to be able to express our opinions. However, I think people choose how to express those opinions. I personally feel that constructive, helpful posts are much more effective in getting the message to the intended audience than destructive, inflammatory posts that come across as a personal attack against one person or another when it's not the fault of any individual: a team is making these decisions. Yes, some developers who are on the forums posting do put both feet squarely in their mouths, and it does not help the situation and tensions between the player base. ButI know for a fact the Devs do listen to the player base: Pex, Darth P, and Goliath (who is an artist for goodness sake) all put in some serioustime and effortto listen to the players and help the other programmers meet the desires of the player base. I also think many people forget that Tiggs and Thunderheart are community relations managers, not development team. They are the messengers who try and pass the feedback of the player base(both constructive and ranting) across as best as they can. They don't always succeed, and it's just a matter of them choosing the wrong words for the moment.
I talk to my guild mates in game, my friends if you will, about the threads that go onin this and otherforums, and most of them have thrown up their hands in disgust at the level to which this and otherforums have degenerated. There are an overwhelming number of posts attacking Devs, posts attacking correspondents, posts attacking playersfor expressing an opinion or stating a belief about how the game should be run. The ones that get the me are the insults directed at new players looking for a simple explanation to a question to get shot down by experienced players who can't take two seconds to point people in the right direction. Reason flies out the window in the face of too much emotion.
That's just my opinion on the situation in the forums right now. And I think it's enough for one day.
Thanks for reading.
