I for one do not hold the devs responsible for every problem in this game. Why you might ask? Well it's simple, they just do as they are told by their management. They are given limited time to add new content, prof changes & changes to the game general mechanics. When you place a time limit on releasing such complex changes, you WILL get bugs. Over time these bugs have accumulated and overwhelmed the devs.

From personal experience, I know that programming is complex and time consuming. I can only imagine how enormous the challenge is in working on a game of this scale.

I would ask everyone to quit with the attacks on the devs. They have bosses too, just like we do in work. They need our support and positive, constructive feedback. I honestly do not see how attacking them is going to fix anything or help anyone.

Before PM'ing a dev, attacking them on the forums or generally giving them hassle, stop and think of this:
1. They receive more PM's in 1 day than you have since you joined the forums.
2. They are not in charge of game developement. Their managers are.
3. They are players just like you.
4. They hate the bugs too, but are not allocated the time/resources to fix them.
5. They invest significant personal time into this game and community.

If you are thinking of flaming this post, then please don't bother. I have already seen what you think in the many other threads on these forums.

Tiggs, on behalf of the decent players in the game, I would like to apologise for the unwarranted criticism you have recieved. You have our support. We would however appreciate direct communication from the management team in charge of development. If you can, please pass that request to the relevant people.

If you are reading this, than thank you for all your efforts.

while i do feel bad for tiggs in that thread i do know why it happened, but before i say why i want it known that i stopped going into that thread due to the onslaught to tiggs personally.


reason: the devs and corro have not relayed any information prior to us finding out when things go live in regards to our profession.


no eta on any fixes that we had asked about in that same thread. those issues have been in existance for far too long for someone to answer them with "we are working on it and have no idea on when it might be finished". such an answer after such a long period of time is


1) totally unacceptable


2) totally disrespectful


the issues mentioned in that thread should have been addressed by someone with the information and authority to discuss it openly. if the answer was "we are not working on FRS due to our work on XXXXXX" would have been much more accepted. though not liked, it would have not caused as much of an uproar.


the lightsaber speed bug was acknowledged by garva LONG ago as a bug. (i.e. not intentional broken game) however they ignored it and expected us as customers to continue paying for a service that we are not getting, plain and simple.


the aim for each jedi discipline was also not addressed. ANY DEV should have the knowledge of the "aim" for the jedi as a class and know what they intended the practical use to be.


with so many issues in a game that they say in their interveiws is a great game that immerses you into the star wars universe i will be the first to say: i don't feel immersed when there are bugs in the game.... immersion happens when the game runs smoothly, which it doesn't.... i have spouted off for the last year not to make any more expansions, that bug fixes should be what every SWG employee is working on. the bugs in this game must be fixed before any balance can be acheived. because how can you balance a game of rules when most of the rules are not working. that's insanity.



i do feel for tiggs... i do. but i feel no pity for her in regards to the fact that she should not have come to fight this fire with a garden hose.

Thank you everyone for your intelligent and well thought out replies. It makes a welcome change.

I would like to clarify a few things about me and my original post though.

1. Yes, I am a new Jedi, but I have been playing for for 16 months. I am friends with many long time Jedi and understand very well the differences between pre-cu Jedi, pre pub9 Jedi, and post-cu Jedi. This thread was not about the bugs/nerfs/lack of communication in the game or even about Jedi.

2. I am also extremely frustrated with the bugs/nerfs in the game and the lack of communication from SOE. I would have been a Jedi 6 months ago if not for a very annoying bug that prevented me from advancing.

3. In response to mallani123123123's post. It is not a self righteous post..unless you considering me believing that dev's should be treated with some respect as self righteous. They are not perfect, and make many mistakes, but they still deserve to be treated with the common respect afforded to any person. Also, there was no finger pointing. I mentioned no names of the shameful posters...they know who they are. Finally, my post was not about bugs, or nerfs, so my sig is not hypocritical. And my sig is not aggressive or personally insulting to anyone.

4. My post was only about the unneccesarily brutal attacks on the devs....it was not about the state of the game. A broken game and lack of communication does not justify such poor behaviour or disrepect towards any dev.

I myself have posted messages complaining about that game. As a customer it is my right to do so. However, my posts always remain respectful and free of personal attacks. I would expect everyone else's posts to be the same. We are a community....when 1 person acts in such a shameful manner, it reflects badly on all of us.

Thanks to everyone for reading. Hopefully my posts will do some good.

iv been in a few ryatt groups and maybe at most 1 or 2 ppl go afk for short periods of times for like lunch or shower or somethin and i did see ppl afk at the geo. I have seen more bh last weekend then i have ever seen in 1 day ( keep in mind i dont play mon-thurs).

i myself owned my own buisness (though i've sold it long ago) and if someone came at me with a bad attitude i would not return it. ask anyone in any management posistion... you NEVER return anger from "customers" ever!! you try to help them even if they upset you, yell at you, and call you names.... don't think everytime that it is directed at you personally. but it's no use explaining this to someone who obviously has no idea

First, I love SWG. I've been playing since Nov 03. I don't want to give it up or canel my account. I just want to be able to play what I pay for.


Sure, your op ed piece looks good on paper Kaylais, but if SWG was your car and SOE were the mechanics, I'm sure you wouldn't be so patient.


Since, Pub 19-20 I've gone from 2-3 minute logins to 6 hour and 42 minute logins, wiped my machine 7 times JUST to play SWG, tried everything (And I mean that literally) to get this fixed. Then suddenly a another pub hits and along with it comes the lag.


Then Pub 24 comes out.......

Now not only do I wait the 6 hours and 42 minutes to login but, I'm greeted with my character and as soon as I move I CTD! EVERY TIME!


I'll tell you what YOU start footing my bill until I can play it again and then I won't complain about poor SOE coding, priorities, and tech support (or lack thereof) anymore. Deal?


I think (since Pub 19) I've been more than gracious with SOE. Gracious time is over. Don't like it? Sad face.

oh yes. customers get irrate without the employees ever being hostile - thus the tie in with the subject. no s.o.e. employee was cursing or personally insulting any individual players, and they have shown no "hostility" yet people are acting irrationally towards them. there is no excuse for it on either side of the fence.

Has it ever occured to you that the profane and nasty flames probably do not do much to motivate these people to help you? I do a lot of customer service. I can tell you that people who are nasty with you do not exactly make you interested in helping them. I want to see changes happen as much as the next person. But the stupid personal attacks do not solve anything. I look for intelligient conversation on message boards. (Silly me). Three quarters of the time I have to sift through endlessly stupid posts of people who clearly have nothing better to do with their time then to insult and personally attack people they don't even know.


A lot of people complain that the DEVS dont listen to our pettitions, or what goes on in these forums. Let me ask you this? If you were a DEV, would you want to read the garbage that goes on in here most of the time? I wouldn't. And if I did, I sure as hell would not be too interested in making you happy.






You obvious don't know anything about business, any regular company would be filing for bankruptcy right now. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO PLEASE THE CUSTOMER, NOT OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO PLEASE YOU. I will agree with you that there is alot of garbage post on this forums, but that in no way gives the developers the right to ignore the PAYING CUSTOMER. Do you understand? I have done many jobs I don't like, I suck it up and get it done not cry about it becausein reality youdon't have that option, especially when you are a business owner. Their sole job is to serve us, we are paying for them toserve usby fixing the game and adding new content. As it stands right now we should not even be paying for this game, what have they accomplished?As a customer you have the right to **edit** about the things the development team is doing, get your view straight.

It's very easy to see where to lay blame for any issues. Lucasarts provides the direction for this game, and right now the direction is not only up in the air, they can't even tell us how up in the air it is. SOE DOES know how to run a game. They aren't perfect, and they should shoulder their side of the blame too. But my God, people... leave Tiggs alone. If you had a problem with your government and how they did things, would you level charges like this against the press correspondent, and leave the President/Premier/Prime Minister blameless? (Not a political rant at all, just a matter of comparison)

Tiggs and TH tell us what they can. They tell our Jedi correspondent what they can, and he tells us what he's allowed. The fact that there is precious little info reflects on how the powers-that-be feel about their customer base. We are all sheep, we are all mindless, and as long as we pay our monthly fees they can continue to either be proactive in their nerfing and reactive in their bug-fixing once it's hit the breaking point.
