Thread: Windu vs Palpatine discussion

That writer of that quote sounds like he is of the opinion that palpatine didnt throw the fight, as he talks about "it places an awful lot of faith on Anakin's timing ...and he suffered a kicked-in face to boot". So I dont really see how that helps your argument... but besides, theres a difference between something someone says that is on sw.com, and the databank, which isnt a person's opinion. And regarding your Boba Fett example, the movies part of his databank just says it seemed that he died, never said he did, and the EU says he survived, so that doesnt contradict the EU or the other way around either.
"It's one of the fieriest debates of online fan forums: when Palpatine was cornered in his office's giant window-frame, was he really overpowered by Mace? Or was he faking to lure Anakin? Could Mace really have gotten the upper hand on the Sith Lord?
George Lucas is the ultimate keeper of the true answer, and he's not telling... yet, anyway. If you had asked me in the Summer of '03, when the sequence was first shot, I would have had a solid answer. But, if you asked me in the Fall of '04, when the sequence was re-shot, well... for those who want to debate, it's best to know more of the story of how this scene came to be."
"Even the infamous bounty hunter Boba Fett could not escape the disgusting creature, as an out-of-control rocket pack deposited the armored hunter into the Sarlacc's gullet."

Read the novelisation and end this silly debate once and for all. The novel explains it all.
Yes I mean the books are so exciting right...
I enjoyed it more than the movie, myself. But back to the Boba Fett thing, the EU doesnt say he didnt fall into the sarlac, which is all that quote you provided says. The EU says he escaped from it, and in his databank in the movies section it says this: "With a sickly belch from the desert creature, it seemed as if Fett's career as the galaxy's most notorious bounty hunter was brought to an end." By them using the word seemed, that means it leaves the EU to be able to say he later escaped w/out contradicting anything, as I said earlier.

Many of you fail to mention that mace had the ability to use his emotions like a dark jedi, He could channel his anger into power much like the sith and use it to his advantage when fighting which gave him an ability even yoda did not have.

Read the Sarlacc databank I linked. It clearly says there even Boba Fett could not escape. By that I could say well in the databank says he could not have escaped if someone says that, he survived the Sarlacc.
If you actualy read that whole sentence, it says he could not escape in reference to his falling into it.
"Even the infamous bounty hunter Boba Fett could not escape the disgusting creature, as an out-of-control rocket pack deposited the armored hunter into the Sarlacc's gullet."
That was true, as we all saw. He was not able to escape falling into it. However, that in no way implies he was not able to escape from inside it at a later date, and were he to do so it would not contradict the fact that he was nto able to escape falling into it in the first place, in any way.

Well doesn't matter muchsince we are talking about the databank. It says there Wind overpowered Palpatine. If that's true so why's this there ? Talkingabout ifPalpatine throw the fight or not ?

Yes that's what it says, he could not escape to his falling into it.
Well didn't it say he could not escape it ? If he could not escape it how did he escape it later ?
His not being able to keep himself from falling into it doesnt mean he couldnt get out later, I hope you can understand that. His jetpack was malfunctioning at the time of his falling into it, so you could say that is the reason he couldnt escape falling into it. However, the EU explains how he got out:
There was once a comment by...someone, cant remember who.. on starwars.com where the person SAID that in GL's opinion boba fett died in the sarlacc. However, someone saying thats how GL feels, and GL saying it are two diff things completely, and interestingly enough, that comment has been removed from starwars.com. I still have the old link to it, as I would quote it in my posts sometimes regarind this very subject, but it no longer exists, it gives an error message if you try to go there now.

Maybe because of this ?

windu diddnt beat palp ur missing the whole point of that fight palp could have killed him if he wanted but then palpwouldnt have been able to turn anikan had windu been dead anikan would have never had to choose between his love or the jediit was all a set up
Anakin made that choice the moment he left the Jedi temple, disobeying Windu's orders, to go STOP Windu and co from killing the chancellor, as he thought they would. Even if Palpatine had killed Mace, it was self defense(he was defending himself), so he could have easily manipulated Anakin into still believing that the Jedi had tried to assassinate him and take over the republic. Thats the beauty of it.
