Thread: An idea for the folks that want PVE only Jedi (discuss)

Roll up folks! a one time irrevocable chance to make your jedi even weaker!!
Seriously. I dont want a pve jedi but if they were to be introduced then if they have to be different stats wise like you suggest, it should be the other way round if anything.
The way you say it there is no benefit for going pve jedi as pvp jedi will totally own you in pve, think for a second.Jedi 1 and Jedi 2 both want to go to the dwb with their guild. Jedi1 is pve and has been crippled in all respects by his choice, bad damage, poor regen, a maintanance xp cost for a 4th gen saber (seriously what the f*ck is that about mate?). Jedi 2 is pvp. Who would be taken do you think?
Pve jedi should by their very definiton be better at pve than pvp jedi, but worse/unable to pvp.
Agreed. Making jedi even more unviable PvE as a choice for avoiding PvP is silly. There are alreadydmg reductionsin PvP. Handing out a dmg boost to thePvP'rs overPvE players, just doesnt make sense. The logic in that is so flawed, I can see SOE implementing it.
Pre-Cujedi unresistable Lightsaber Damage. It cut right thru any and all armor, some things were 100% immune to kinetic, or heat, or energy, or whatever... Nothing I can remember resisted LS dmg. In PvP jedi did dmgsimilar to how it is now. So the PvP minded jedi with great saber's really don't see to much difference damage wisein PvP aside from slow combat, less moves and cool animations available, nerfed state attacks, the block reduction, and other things. Damage output is almost the same. There were quite a few double elite templates that could take even the best of them, since defense actually meant something instead of more of a dmg reduction and more time between your heals.
In PvE, Jedihad about a5 to 10X damage bonus modifier. When you went PvP dmg was similar to how it was now, but when you were fighting npc's and mobs your dmg output was about5 to 10 times what it is now. And you know what it was fun, I loved walking across dathomir or endor and killing nearly everything in sight in a matter of seconds. It was a great way to blow off steam and make some quick credits. And you were NOT invincible in all highend PvE.Some builds did better than others. NS edlers and rangers were tough. Krayts tough. DWB and the Vette tough. You had to know your foods and what you were doing and usually bring a good group, just like you do now.

In response to the posters that are looking at wow you get to gimp your Jedi...
YES thats exactly what this is. Play a Jedi or be gimped. Take the risks of PvP as intended or go play in easy mode but with less power. The PvP Jedi will have FRS mods which will raise them above the level we are at now and those Jedi that dont want to pvp wouldnt be going in the FRS anyhow.
Personally I think the idea of PvE only Jedi is silly but there are many who complain about BH and PvP, well this would give them an alternative to the PvP action. Gimping them slightly would be totally necessary to keep balance since they would not have the BH threat.
As far as them being owned in dungeons by the PvP Jedi. Well duh! yes thats the whole idea- you dont want the risk you dont get the reward. Same reasoning behind having a maintenance cost on gen4 certs.
A jedi should get a ONE TIME IRREVOCABLE option to be pve only.
PvE Jedi get:
25% damage reduction on all attacks.
10% less regen than pvp Jedi
5% longer timers than PvP Jedi
Death penalty on cloning.
25%xp reduction.
Maintenance Cost (in XP) for gen4 saber cert.
Restricted from declaring SF.
In return they never get bountied and can PvE with friends and guildies with no fear of interuption.
Thoughts?

Since Jedi was designed to be a Pvp profession and the option to be PVE only unbalances us as a whole, here is my idea for a PVE only Jedi class. Mind you they would be no more than "untrained force wielders" and would never have the option to join the FRS. Well perhaps later they could convert but it would be a long and arduous task since they chose not to go PvP and didn't have the risks involved.
Tthese are all base numbers and of course would need to be adjusted to make things "fair" for the non Jedi without totally ruining the gameplay of the PvE Jedi.
here is my PvE Jedi "solution".

Having an irrevocable decision made by a bunch of teens and preteens is asking for disaster. Yes, there are many of us older than the average player, but with how fast this game changes, new bugs here, patches there, such a decision isn't really possible. Look at Cloak and imagine if none of the dabblers could retrain into something more useful. Not exactly what you were talking about, but a good example of why change IS necessary nonetheless.

Because of the constant nerfing, Jedi are of equal or less power than any other combat class. What your'se asking is that someone WILLINGLY gimp their charactor to be WAY LESS powerful than any other class. Even for only PvE, I don't think anyone would do that. They'd never get invited to groups (anyone remember EQ1 Necros???) and they could not solo any content. In effect the charactor would be useless.
Yeah really I didn't notice all this rampant jedi power?
silversaber wrote:I wish to be PvE only, but I will NEVER agree to be nerfed to accomplish it just to placate the PvP crowd.
If you want to be PVE only then simply DO NOT grind Jedi. It is that simple. The PvP rules have been there since the beginning, so there is no possible way you can complain that this was nerfed vai publish XX. There are many, very good, even exceptional PVE templates out there to choose from.
Reduce by 25% the damage output of a group of people who, at best, are the 6th highest damage output profession?
Did you really think about this?
omg, an other one, I can't count them.
If I love using my jedi to craft backpacks I'll craft backpacks without you nerfing me plz. It's my problem if I grind jedi to craft backpacks.
If I love to harvest meat with my jedi because my alt is BE, please go away with your stupid pvp and (no offence) don't break my balls.
If I love exploring and adventuring in dungeons with my jedi, I'll do it.
If I love going SF killing, dieing, taking bases, camp cloning, ... I'll do it.
Overhall, it's stupid asking for nerfs when the devs alone are doing this.

Yes, you should and can do anything with your jedi that your heart desires. I agree you should be able to do, well, anything! You also need to be aware that there could possibly be a BH waiting for you in the backpack you just crafted. I am not saying, "don't play your jedi", I am saying the system of BH/Jedi was in place long before the first Knight was ground. We cannot and should not expect them to change the system simply because new jedi do not like the outcome.
