Thread: An idea for the folks that want PVE only Jedi (discuss)

This is an ill conceived idea. As others have pointed out why would I want to gimp myself down to below the level of a normal profession. (Jedi power currently is only that of a normal profession or slightly lower).
A PvE jedi, if thats all they can do, needs to be more powerful in PvE than the normal Jedi or there is little reason to do it. A PvE only jedi would be giving up content soley for protection from BHs. For most that would be a big sacrifice. I hate been interrupted by BH's when I'm trying to play the game, but I like the option of PvP on my terms. Consider the flip side if there were to be PvP only jedi, would you expect them to be more or less powerful in PvP than a PvP/PvE jedi ?
This whole risk reward argument for jedi is a red herring. BH's were not about adding risk to Jedi to justify their extra power (reward) they were about slowing down progression and keeping Jedi less visible. The justification for the large amount of time and effort required to become and complete a jedi template was its extra power.
Now we have a situation where jedi are no more powerful than normal professions, they suffer forced PvP and exp loss and have experience requirements at least an order of magnitude higher than any other profession and you want to gimp it further for those who would be silly enough to make a one time irrevocable decision. No, sorry, back to the drawing board.
Finally.. someone who understands the flaws presented by this idea. I was begining to worryI was the only one that saw them.

As it stands now, here are the risks, or penalties, for being jedi:
1) Hunted by BH
2) Loss of xp if BH deathblows
3) 10x+ Higher xp requirements
4) 6x LESS xp per kill
5) Visibility for engaging in game content
Here are the rewards:
1) As stated by devs: "you get to play a Jedi"
Hardly seems like balance to me.
u shouldve known all this before hand....why would u become jedi if u knew it wasnt worth it

No, before hand Jedi had more power (Jedi had WAY more power when my char became one). That justified all the risks, and all was balanced. Now they are no more powerful than a regular character. No reward, but the risks remain. How can you ask why people became jedi if they new the risks??? That question shows ignorance on your part. Most of us became Jedi BEFORE they were downgraded in power to that of a regular combat class. The risk was understood and the reward was given. Now that our reward for playing the class is taken away, why should we be burdoned with the risk?
This is like buying a Ferrari for it's speed then waking up one morning to find the car manufacturers replaced your engine with a Pinto Engine. But hey, you should have realized they were going to do that before you bought the car... o.O

u can thank all the ppl who whine about the risks of being a jedi...rebember when jedi could wear comp armor and had 1000 dmg + lightsabers? ...that was also when permadeath, saber tef, and skill loss was in the game..once the devs strated removing those penalties jedi became weaker and weaker

hehe...yea...loved the LS damage, and saber TEF kept people in line, but I was a bit weirded out being allowed to wear composite armor.
I wish to be PvE only, but I will NEVER agree to be nerfed to accomplish it just to placate the PvP crowd.
ya comp armor had to go but saber tef was great

PVE or PVP get real folks its the players decision on how to play thier jedi if they want to PVP they will if they Dont they wont. no one on here has the right to tell another player how to spend his $15.00 a month, the jedi are not getting nerfed because of PVP or PVE the jedi got nerfed because we bred like rabits and now are everywhere and all the other classes and non jedi are complaining. the PVP argument why not cry for this
GIVE SWGA BATTLEGROUNDS PLANETS THAT ISFOR THE PVP CROWD, you land overt, they can even swarn the planet withDWB Mobs for content

heres another option for all you risk takers out there, what risk do you have, to lose 500k to a bounty hunter hmmmm big risk a few hours of work, big deal, you wanna talk risk make it interesting
2 jedi of opposing faction face off, losing jedi faces permadeath or loss of 100 jedi skill points. that would be the only risky thing in the game, until then thier is not much risk besides some XP loss which is negligable and hurt pride
permadeath is overkill, bring back saber tef and skill loss...i think thats plenty of risk for most
