Thread: An idea for the folks that want PVE only Jedi (discuss)

Since Jedi was designed to be a Pvp profession and the option to be PVE only unbalances us as a whole, here is my idea for a PVE only Jedi class. Mind you they would be no more than "untrained force wielders" and would never have the option to join the FRS. Well perhaps later they could convert but it would be a long and arduous task since they chose not to go PvP and didn't have the risks involved.
Tthese are all base numbers and of course would need to be adjusted to make things "fair" for the non Jedi without totally ruining the gameplay of the PvE Jedi.
here is my PvE Jedi "solution".
A jedi should get a ONE TIME IRREVOCABLE option to be pve only.
PvE Jedi get:
25% damage reduction on all attacks.
10% less regen than pvp Jedi
5% longer timers than PvP Jedi
Death penalty on cloning.
25%xp reduction.
Maintenance Cost (in XP) for gen4 saber cert.
Restricted from declaring SF.
In return they never get bountied and can PvE with friends and guildies with no fear of interuption.
Thoughts?
I actully would like these guys to all go to thier own server...
All of them in fact put all the care bear Jedi on one server and lock them out from the rest... this would fix it.
I swear I have never seen anything get so bad with all of the people that want to change the class entirely and make it was weak or weaker then it is now... freaking amazing.
You guys would not have lasted 48 hours in the pre- 9 days.
ROFL, If you did all that my god why don't you just play a Swordsman? Find the hack that lets you change your powerhammer to a saber and pretend you are a Jedi. I can assure you'll hit more like one as a Swordsman if you want those PvE modfiers in place for Jedi.

Yup.
Besides, if they ( the astounding, disappearing developers of swg ) just provided a viable way for the Jedi class to actually avoid vis while participating in game content this might all be a moot point.
One and All,
Quite a few of us told the boys at SOE this is what would happen as the game aged, that limited PvP doesn't work in any form. They felt they just had a way to make it work, too bad they don't understand the reasons folks relax. The present system is very flawed and the reason for the reduction in Jedi ability, is because they are trying to promote PvP and make some folks play some other class, the problem is twofold.
First, the Star Wars saga is about Jedi, not anything else, why wouldn't everyone want to be a Jedi. How to make it difficult or keep Jedi to a limited number, was blown when they made it a quest possible profession. So to try and limit their numbers , Jedi is a Target profession, to hinder others from persueing the jedi profession, hence the xtra slot. Yet if you dreamed to being a Jedi put in the time and then to have to put up with the constant hunting, some folks might say "I wanted to enjoy playing in the Star Wars world not make it a second Job". If they're of the older gamer type, they will probably just pack their bags and move to the next game. This is not good business, and it's not good for the player base as a whole, you are either growing or your dieing.
Second, the present PvP isvery flawed from theaspect that it is not a true PvP system, but a limited form of Hide and seek. As in all PvP or limited PvP the final sucess comes down to three things, abilites, gearand your connection. No one argues that with a good sabre and a full template your armed for bear, until that time your gonna be in for a long haul. As of this time to construct a good sabre is a huge timesink (Which is SOE'S standard method to keep you playing TIMESINKS), this was the EQ model and is being used again at this time, Sorry I digress. Sowhy are there nerf calls, because there is a piece of gear or an ability that gives another class a get out of "jail free card" or a "I win skill". So someone says "This was not intended", this is a catch all phrasefor"Dmn I didn't see it working that way", how am I or any player supposed to know someone elses intentions?..We're not psyhic, mabe psyco sometimes but were not mind readers. there are some folks who are relegated to dialups and satellite and have high ping times, they're only option is to run PvP isn't possible for them in any fashion. So Limited PvP is only fragmenting the base into a continual call for changes instead of adding new content. Can there be PvP?, possibly but the types of players that PvP vs non PvP is pretty varied, in the end there is friction and again not growing the player base.
Finally, someone who's been gaming along time might be able to design a form that could make both side at least live with what they have.In the end the goal should be to grow the player base, and move the SWG realm forward in content. With all the finger pointing and basically nottrying to come up with a comprimise, there might be alot of people wondering where everyone went. Grow the player base folks, stop focusing on making SWG your realm and try to make it everyones.

People need to stop trying to revamp jedi, it is what it is, you knew what you were getting into when you started grinding all those hours.
You guys knew Jedi requires PVP at some Level, perma overt at knight,so stop trying to change the system.
That's about all I have to say, worry about the fixes and exploits, not revamping/wishlists ideas that just clutter these boards. Modified Speed, Pearls, FRS are greater things to be preocupied about.
Why don't you worry about the PvP portion and let those who don't want to PvP worry about the PvE portion? That way you will get your wish of being hunted more because if you accept forced PvP that is fine. With the proposal you will still get what you want and people who don't want to will get what they want.

PvE mode = staying off the terminals. Take it or leave it.
Actually I PvE most of the time with my Jedi and I'm always on the terminals. You can't really PvE without being on the terminals unless you are doing mindless creature grinding. Of course I've had a whopping 2 BH's from the last time I used my Jedi over acouple hoursof playing, IMO what the hell is everyone complaining about lol.
Jedi = possible PvP encounters, people need to either take it or leave it. Until the FRS comes out no one can speculate how powerful a Jedi can become, for all we know we'll need more penalties than what we have now when Jedi get into the FRS. I seriously hope FRS Jedi (which should be limited) are not only perma overt but also have some form of weekly death counter with skill loss.......this way these few Jedi can actually be what Jedi was designed to be, the alpha profession of the game. Then I'll be able to laugh at all the gimped Jedi asking to be a normal profession.
Of course Carebears will ruin it in the end, I know it. I don't know why I even try to get my hopes up, as another old time Jedi said....these PvE Jedi are playing intothe Devs hands everytime they ask for things to be easier. It gives them every excuse tomake them weaker than even normal professions. FRS will probably be the same thing.....just look at some of the PvE Jedi already saying they want an option to level in the FRS without PvP lol, it'll never stop.

They did, it's called Kashyyk.
