Thread: Should Jedi be a 1st or 2nd Year Reward?
no. Jedi needs to be an accomplishment.
Besides, if Jedi were a reward, you would just get a 'blue-glowy' hologram like every other vet reward ![]()
I sympathize with the hard-core crafters as I was one ever since Beta 3. Spent about 6 months as a Master Droid Engineer / Master Artisan, then about 4 months as a Tailor, then Bio Engineer (which was a LOT of fun when combined with pre-CU Master Swordsman), Chef and finally Shipwright.
I played what I wanted and at my own pace. I did the pre Publish-9 Hologrind for a while but didn't finish in time, so I went back to my own thing and did the Village as time allowed.
When I finally made the decision to go for Jedi, it required that I dump crafting altogether and focus on combat. With the CU, it isn't possible (in my opinion, which you're free to disagree with) to complete the Village quests that would unlock skills that would be valuable (e.g. Melee Speed, Melee Accuracy, defenses, etc.). As a Crafter you can do the crafting-related quests, but those skills won't be of much use once you're a full-time Jedi.
But in any case, I earned Jedi free and clear even though it took me 2 years to do so. If it is possible for a crafter like me to become a Jedi, then it is possible for anyone. It just takes longer.

Jedi should not be a gift, it should be earned. However as there are supposed to be no Jedi in this particular time frame, I can see your idea implemented.
Yes, Jedi should be worked for, like any another profession in this game.
But I don't agree with Jedi not being around this time. The Empire couldn't have hunted down every single Jedi
A galaxy is a big place.
No

Jedi, mabie not.... But second account slot, I would say yes... I played 18 months as a master crafter, was a core part of the community, spent just as much time in the game as combat templates, but I have never been given the opportunity to open a second slot...
Not at all opposed to a second character slot being opened up at 24 months, but...
You CAN unlock Jedi without becoming a combat template. Group up to get glowy, do the FS unlocks, grind out 4 branches of Artisan and 2 branches of senses, and get some help with Mel and the Trials and you're done.
Just my idea though, allows people to play several professions give jedi to those who just don't join up on the game looking for a quick power trip... /shrug too late now for such a thing tho

This would be assuming that most if not all players wanted Jedi. Here lies the flaw in this:
#1: Many vets since launch have stuck to their professions, do not wish for or even like Jedi.
#2: A very high percentage of the players now have either been here for those 2 years (at least on my server) or have come back after a break. This plan would multiply the Jedi number in comparison to how it is now.
#3: The fact that it will take 2 years of loyalty to get Jedi woul turn away potential buyers moreso that bringing them in. From a business standpoint I doubt that this is what they want.
#4: Regardless of Hologrind, Village, whatever, most older Jedi would tell you that they "earned" theirs. The feeling of accomplishment would die if it is based on logged time versus quest or grind. If you've played EQ or anything dealing with Sony you will find that grinding tops all for accomplishment.
Personally I think we get enough "Vet Rewards" as it is.
Jedi as a vet reward? No. There are too many already.
A second character slot? That would rock.
i agree with the character slot as a first or second year award

all soe has to do is make 52 quests that take a week to do each before you get to the village. if you miss one then you have to wait till it comes around next year. that way you will have focused players who really want to be jedi becuase of the dicipline, not because they are power grinders.
