no. Jedi needs to be an accomplishment.

Besides, if Jedi were a reward, you would just get a 'blue-glowy' hologram like every other vet reward

Give Jedi as a Vet reward? Absolutely not.

I sympathize with the hard-core crafters as I was one ever since Beta 3. Spent about 6 months as a Master Droid Engineer / Master Artisan, then about 4 months as a Tailor, then Bio Engineer (which was a LOT of fun when combined with pre-CU Master Swordsman), Chef and finally Shipwright.

I played what I wanted and at my own pace. I did the pre Publish-9 Hologrind for a while but didn't finish in time, so I went back to my own thing and did the Village as time allowed.

When I finally made the decision to go for Jedi, it required that I dump crafting altogether and focus on combat. With the CU, it isn't possible (in my opinion, which you're free to disagree with) to complete the Village quests that would unlock skills that would be valuable (e.g. Melee Speed, Melee Accuracy, defenses, etc.). As a Crafter you can do the crafting-related quests, but those skills won't be of much use once you're a full-time Jedi.

But in any case, I earned Jedi free and clear even though it took me 2 years to do so. If it is possible for a crafter like me to become a Jedi, then it is possible for anyone. It just takes longer.

Jedi should not be a gift, it should be earned. However as there are supposed to be no Jedi in this particular time frame, I can see your idea implemented.

Yes, Jedi should be worked for, like any another profession in this game.

But I don't agree with Jedi not being around this time. The Empire couldn't have hunted down every single Jedi

Maybe I read the original post wrong, as I see it yes 1 or 2 years, there are to many noobs out there that are getting in the village, grinding 6 months and boom 6 months in the game and they have a glowstick. Thats wrong, most of us played almost 6 months or more before they even released Jedi into the game. I'd have to say that if you dont' remember the good old days you have no right to be a Jedi. When I talk good old days, I'm talkin Pre-CU, Pre Swoops, Pre Player cities and best of all Pre Mounts everything you did was on foot and no shuttles to to get closer to the place youare going. Those people deserve Jedi not are a gift you should still have to work for it but those people should have it, take it to 1 year but being th e10 month of the year how many Jedi got this game for Christmas, how many started at or just prior to CU and now are one of the most powerful (lol, Jedi powerful) characters in th game.

Enough said, by this point I'm sure I'm just maken people mad, just get sick of this crap.

No

Jedi, mabie not.... But second account slot, I would say yes... I played 18 months as a master crafter, was a core part of the community, spent just as much time in the game as combat templates, but I have never been given the opportunity to open a second slot...

Not at all opposed to a second character slot being opened up at 24 months, but...

You CAN unlock Jedi without becoming a combat template. Group up to get glowy, do the FS unlocks, grind out 4 branches of Artisan and 2 branches of senses, and get some help with Mel and the Trials and you're done.

my opinion that it should be that the old man visits you after your one year, and he gives you the first holo.. for simplicity, we will go back to only 4 holo professions required. When you master the profession he comes back and gives you the next one, etc. When this is done, you start the village cycle. (like it is now)

Just my idea though, allows people to play several professions give jedi to those who just don't join up on the game looking for a quick power trip... /shrug too late now for such a thing tho

Then in a year or two, EVERYONE would be Jedi. No, there still has to be hoops that need to be jumped through. Though I do agree with a 6 month time limit before new players can get glowy.

6 months can cover about all the content that this game has to offer.

Hi folks,
Im a pre CU Jedi and despite the debate of there being too many Jedi in the galaxy I personaly havn't had a problem with it until recently.
Due to there being a lot of complaints about the influx of new Jedi I was wondering what you think about having Jedi as either a first or two year reward?

This would be assuming that most if not all players wanted Jedi. Here lies the flaw in this:

#1: Many vets since launch have stuck to their professions, do not wish for or even like Jedi.
#2: A very high percentage of the players now have either been here for those 2 years (at least on my server) or have come back after a break. This plan would multiply the Jedi number in comparison to how it is now.
#3: The fact that it will take 2 years of loyalty to get Jedi woul turn away potential buyers moreso that bringing them in. From a business standpoint I doubt that this is what they want.
#4: Regardless of Hologrind, Village, whatever, most older Jedi would tell you that they "earned" theirs. The feeling of accomplishment would die if it is based on logged time versus quest or grind. If you've played EQ or anything dealing with Sony you will find that grinding tops all for accomplishment.

Personally I think we get enough "Vet Rewards" as it is.

Jedi as a vet reward? No. There are too many already.

A second character slot? That would rock.

all soe has to do is make 52 quests that take a week to do each before you get to the village. if you miss one then you have to wait till it comes around next year. that way you will have focused players who really want to be jedi becuase of the dicipline, not because they are power grinders.

yeah great, requirement for jedi = not going on vacation for a year, and boy would people in New Orleans be screwed!

I think Jedi should be something you should have to work real hard for. But then again Jedi should also be something worth getting. I am very disapointed in the way Jedi has be portraied in this game. I understand that you are limited on what you can do in a MMPOG but come on. So many things need to be looked at and reconsidered.
