Thread: Should Jedi be a 1st or 2nd Year Reward?
Thanks for all the great input guys.
Someone commented that the sense of achievement would be lost by having either a FS or Jedi slot being opened as either a first or second reward. I personally dont agree with that as a)They still need to grind and b) I dont really see much of an achievement being made through banal long grinds.
I currently only play on the Farstar server so any comments I make about the following only apply to my observations on that server. Currently we have very few players who have played since launch.Over the past two years I have been an avid pvp and currently only know two or three people since launch.
The server seems unpopulated at the moment and in my opinion the majority of the populace are new (1 year to present) players. Our server saw a vast exodus during the CU and a slight influx of new players when ROTW was released in the shops. My observations dont only come from a visual standpoint but also from a reflection of sales. (Before CU around 1 mill of sales a day, CU 100k if I was lucky, Post CU 400k a day).
At the point of the CU being released I decided to switch my template around. On Farstar we have a city called 'Mos Lowlands' which is in the heart of the lvl 80 Tatooine missions. Whilst grinding there for around two months I met many players the majority of which were new. What amazed me was that 90% of them were grinding Jedi (many of which had only been playing the game for 3-4 weeks)
The problem I have with this doesn't extend to how many Jedi there are but the fact that a) Our cities are empty due to people grinding 24/7 b)New players are concentrating their efforts on being Jedi rather than exploring content and the variety of professions. C) Has had a notable impact on pvp.
In terms of pvp people complain that it consists of too many Jedi. The reason for this is simply due to everyone else grinding to get Jedi.
Another person commented that if Jedi was a reward it would not work in favour of SOE's sales. SOE's sales does not concern me as it doesn't effect me however once a player completes their Jedi template there isn't much else to do other than hang around praying for some kind of pvp combat. In turn people will leave the game and their sales will dwindle. If anything I believe that players would be more inclined to explore the vast amount of professions, journey into space, experience dungeons etc etc meaning that they would play the game longer. once being awarded a Jedi as either a first or second reward it would a)Award them for sticking with the game through thick and thin and b) Give them something else to aim for.
Lets face it a Jedi instead of a hologram is far more interesting and (in the case of Farstar) would halt the advancment of Jedi. As I said before Im pre pub 9 when Jedi was something special. Perhaps Im hanging onto the pastand not moving with the times.

I say give evryone a jedi from login then evryone will shut up about it . who gives a s h i t how many jedi there are , is that really the problem?
I think the problem is there isnt anything else for anyone to do but go jedi , it doesnt matter how hard they make it people are still gonan do it for something to do .
It isnt that hard to figure out . The game is over 2 years now , did ya think that there would only still be 3 jedi on each server? And also if it was you without a jedi after 2 years of playing you be very upset so dont bash anyone for wanting to be jedi and dont blame the state of game on jedi population, has nothing to do with it . Dude, check out the first trilogy, the one this game is supposed to be set in, and then come back to your statement.

Jedi should not be a gift, it should be earned. However as there are supposed to be no Jedi in this particular time frame, I can see your idea implemented.
Yes, Jedi should be worked for, like any another profession in this game.
But I don't agree with Jedi not being around this time. The Empire couldn't have hunted down every single Jedi

Hi folks,
Im a pre CU Jedi and despite the debate of there being too many Jedi in the galaxy I personaly havn't had a problem with it until recently.
Due to there being a lot of complaints about the influx of new Jedi I was wondering what you think about having Jedi as either a first or two year reward?
