Thread: The future of Jedi and the rise of the New Jedi Order
-I would say no negative exp just have Skill Box loss. Either way Jedi seriously need to be increased back to their old power. I miss seeing a Jedi take out tons of people now tons of Jedi are necessary to take out one Melee Tank. Kinda unbalanced considering how much work is necessary to get Jedi.
-Also I'd say you should be a Neutral Jedi, a Dark Jedi, or a Light Jedi from the time you get Padawan on. For example you go to the appropriate Enclave after getting Padawan. However not only can you be involved in the FRS but you may also choose to get into Factional PvP as well. I don't see why a Dark Jedi can't be on the Rebellion's side or vice versa... It would be interesting to see things mixed up like that giving us a real feel for the Civil War. Either way we need more PvP incentive cause spending money non-stop is getting old. We need our FRS back.
yeah, the FRS could add a lot to this, but it's still a great framework.

There is a good number of you that are under a faulty notion that devs have nerfed jedi because it got too easy, and that there is no risk. NO AMOUNT OF RISK SHORT OF PERMDEATH WOULD HAVE STOPPED THE NERFS. Less risk is a direct result of rebalancing of our profession, and not the other way around. You guys can keep fooling yourself and continue on ranting about "no risk", and carebears ruining your profession if this makes you feel better. They are never going to let you run around killing everything with one swipe of a lightsaber no matter what the risk. It barely worked when Jedi only consisted of 2% of the server…it will never work with 50%+.

Lol... You ladies refuse accept the fundamental truth of the matter. Jedi got nerfed because an elite class that is significantly more powerful then other classes does not work in a MMORPG. The numbers of people getting Jedi was increasing (hologrinding and the village), and imbalance grew as time went along. Everyone was getting Jedi, some people because it was Star Wars, and some people because they wanted to be uber… Numbers grew so big nerfs had to come. It didn’t help that all you PVP monkeys did your best to show off as much as you could (the more public place the better), to make it painfully clear to everyone that the unless you were a jedi you could not compete..…Jedi can not be the only relevant profession in the game...

Nope, you're totally mistaken. SOE realized they can't compete with eq2 and wow contentwise, so, they decided to give everyone what they want, a jedi, to sell their game.
People who never played with a saber tef pre-CU would never know. Go check my ''Once'' link in my sig. When you were a lowbie Jedi, you needed to go in the middle of nowhere ( check my distance from both starports ) to grind. Only ONE force power used to deplete your force. You were permateffed to any opposite faction passers by.
We didnt even anser the door sometimes not to move away from the PC. 80% of my friends pre-publish 9 QUIT playing their jedi due to BHs / Tef / stress.
It was a perfect design. Risk / Reward worked perfectly. But SOE crapped Jedi to sell their game. That's the reason, nothing else.
I do agree there is an issue with jedi numbers but I disagree about how to fix it and here's why.
First: "WIthout risk there is no reward." Bologna. We are the ONLY profession with the risk of losing 400K+ of xp if we die. No other profession sets you back if you die. So with that in mind, how do you explain the current overwhelming powers of BH/MCM? They have zero risk. So this statement and point is unfounded and irrelevant.
Second: The developers have stated that the current jedi system was designed for pre CU and that we need a revamp. Therefore the dev team is aware of a problem. AS to when it will be fixed...your guess is as good as mine.
Now heres where things will start making sense...
Part of the revamp will/should include tefs to opposing jedi. Light vs. Dark . Why should we turn to other professions to limit our numbers when we should be able to do it ourselves? That is more inline with the story and that is the only way to solve this whole equation.
In addition, saber damage needs to be changed obviously. We should be able to hold our own against any profession. And for anyone that has something smart to say like...you don't know how to play your template...you dont know how to PVP, etc etc...get off your alt, log into your jedi and get a BH after you. Chain snaring, poison, fire, thyroid rupture, electrolyte drain, and combat droids make it very near impossible to survive an encounter. Go to the BH forums and read up. They know no matter what template you have they have the power to defeat you.
Nevermind the squeeky wheel getting the grease. Whining does not get things fixed here in swg...obviously. But positive suggestions by rational players will make a difference. I am a firm believer that going forward is always best, not stepping back.
I'm okay with some of the ideas, but good grief dude get over yourself. Your elitist attitude is sickening.
This system worked perfectly. But it would not work now. In fact, it would not work at all anymore. There are just too many Jedi already that play the profession because of the myth of power that lies behind it. It was always just a matter of time until the servers were flooded with Jedi. And with that being said, it was always clear in my mind that someday everyone would be the Alpha Class.
The only way to fix Jedi is to get them out of the Galactic Civil War and put them into a PvP of their own, combined with a saber TEF in cities.
PvP needs to be balanced for all players. Regular Professions want to enjoy the Galactic Civil War without being bashed by some Alpha Class. As long as other players are getting beaten with ease by some other professions, because they don't stand a chance the idea of an Alpha class is doomed to fail. There are only two ways to keep all players happy: Either remove all the penalties from Jedi and balance them with the other professions or make Jedi stronger and remove them from the Galactic Civil War. I strongly support the second solution (especially Glzmo's FRS). Jedi should fight Jedi and regular Profession should fight regular professions. That way the myth of the Jedi would still remain in tact, making them as strong as they are portrayed in the Star Wars Movies and the Expanded Universe, while keeping them hidden from regular eyes for the most part.
It is because of people like you that the Jedi Profession is so overcrowded in the first place, since most of the people just play their Jedi because of the promise of Power (even though it may no longer hold true - the myth is still there). You want to play your Jedi and be powerful just to beat on people that are weaker than you and can not stand a chance. You have no interest in fighting equals and therefor enforce some real competition among the players. You want an "I-Win-Button" for yourself, so you can "PWNZ da n00bs!". PvP should be about tactics; using the right skills at the right moment. If you fight inferiors, where does the challenge for you remain?
I think the best way of reducing the Jedi population is not letting people like you beat on regular professions. Only the people who are holding true to the ideal of the Jedi would remain. Not some kids who want to "0wNz0r".
And don't come with the argument: "But I'm playing this game for PvP. I want to do PvP with my Guildmates and friends.", because you can still do so with your other character that every Jedi has the option to use. If you don't like that idea, how about deleting your Jedi entirely and playing a regular profession to compete in the GCW?
Mature Jedi players and roleplayers, it is time to get rid of the kiddie invasion in our profession (and I'm talking about mental, not physical age here). The game needs to be fair for everyone!
Here here Grzmo!!!
Now there is something I can agree with!!!

This wouldn't do anything but inflate the economy even further. Half the Jedi on the server would ebay credits to buy more adk's at outrageous prices.
I CALL FOR STICKY!
1 critisism - make the cooldown for these changes a little shorter, I\m soo goddam bored at this moment in time - Space and crafting only entertain me soo much...
Court, I haven't decided myself if you really care or are just full of sh1t. Doesn't really matter.
But if I am to take your vision serious...you should post what type of changes the jedi can expect6 months from now after your great vision has gone through. It's easy to talk about how to beat us back down again to make the strong survive. But if I'm gonna support this, I want to know what the payoff at the end is. So far all I see is 6 months of boring game play ahead per this vision. Please...Give me a glimpse at how you would view Jedi in the future...would they be an Alpha?
