Thread: the thing that most people dont understand about saber damage....
Don't forget that jedi are supposed to be "1.5x" a normal template. You've shown that an average saber is comparable to a good ranged weapon, which in my mind proves that sabers are too weak.

Pistol will hit for 317
Saber will hit for 325
(again using power attack and crit shot)
almost identical - that is in high end PvPa mediocre saber is pretty much equivelent to the very best pistols on the market...

also speed tapes etc atm are very bugged. do not very much at all apart from change the mod dps value - a number that itself means nothin much.
A'ru
small point of clarification
The tapes themselves are not bugged but rather the specials using base saber speed instead of modified saber speed.
The tapes will adjust your modified saber speed, but the specials will not actually use it.
Therefore the tapes are still useful in the long run when the saber speed bug is fixed.

I am not knocking your post. However, I have questions for you. Why did you compare adv. crit shot to power attack? Why these attacks. What are the stats behind these attacks (ie are the modifiers the same?). I understand the stats behind power attack, but i have never played a pistoleer so I am ignorant of their specials. You ask everyone for the stats on their guns but lets get it straight first what excatly you are testing.

The magical 1.5 number isn't all about damage. It's about all the other goodies jedi get as well.
This is a good post. I've wondered a few times how a Jedi could have a chance against myrifle as a bh, but I forgot about the multipliers being less. My action bar on my bh drops in 5 hits so I pray they're good ones. My Jedi very rarely runs out of action even in pve.

In addition, I have spoken to many of the young jedi in my guild and a 400-500 damage saber is more than "average" to them. Many of them have no crystals or pearls with damage over 50-60 and many use less than a 4 gen because the FC and SAC are too high for them.
I believe your argument holds a lot of weight to those of us who have sabers with max damage over 700 and a banes/destiny who complain, but for the younglings who never had the ability (or did not think they would be unable)to get all their pearls/crystals with a max damage of 110 and over a little lacking.
The players require help from friends such as yourself or guildies to help them acquire enough good pearls to tune a decent saber.
I ahve helped quite a few players get their sabers up to around 600 max, by hunting krayt after krayt and letting themt ake all the pearls to tune.
Another good way is so they take all the pearls and you take everything else. You make some money off tissues and what not and they get the tunes they need. (eventually)

Click on the "Reply" Link on the actual post you want to quote.
Then when text box window comes up there is a littel square quote box between the strikethrough tex and the smiley face on the tool bar.
Click on it and it will quote whatever post you hit reply to
got it

ok i picked adv critical as it is one of the highest damage multiplyer ranged specials that can be viable used in a pvp contest
for comparison saber power attack imp 2.5x mod
adv critical mod 1.9x
adv leg shot (carbineer) 1.9x
adv sniper shot (rifle) 3.4x BUT nasty warmup etc
imp body shot (pistols) 1.5x
imp saber head hit - 1.8x
adv saber throw - 1.9x
i piscked critical as its a BH special and its mods are typical of the high end of ranged multipliers

Correct - 500 max dam saber needs 4 perals/crystals at about 60-70 dam i think
244 on a good hilt +60x4 is 484
i wasnt comparing FC at all here just talking damage which is what most people moan about
Correct but it is quite a bit slower than firing adv crit shot. I'm not sure about the exact times but i'd bet you could fire off two adv crit shots(with just mbh) before or soon after the completion of one power hit.
Accuracy with said weapon: 240.
Same MBH/MC with Rifle 561-1123 no elemental, SAC 95. Accuracy: 175
Full Temp Paddy: 381 - 478 with elemental 119. SAC 98. Accuracy: 228
If your formulas match in game formulas, I have extreme doubts that the jedi does more damage .

you couldnt fire 2 off but you could alternate specials - again that comes down to speeds which i havnt adressed here as there is so much that can modify them. also you can power attack then follow it up with head hit - alternating specials plays havoc with any dsort of speed calc

ok lets see - adv critical vs imp power attack - no armourbreaks
vs CL82 BOL
706with proton
785 with rifle
576with saber
saber a long way behind - due to low max dam and almost = combat level
VS a CL94 NeKrosis
540with proton
582 with rifle
530 with saber
rifle by a small margin
Pvp vs a jedi running aura
382 with proton
397 with rifle
386 with saber
