There is also nothing stopping them from following you iether.
This Point Is Irrelevant.
No, its Highly relevant. If they can follow us around, then there is no way to be able to exp. You might hate the Jedi profession, but we have every right to be able to exp that you do in this game.
You really can't change the system anymore unless they just remove BH missions altogether.
Not true. They can change it lotsa ways. Maybe make it so player chars cannot cause visibility, just NPC chars.
Congrats, you just defeated the whole purpose, now you will have more Jedi Dueling in cities.
When a game mechanic ment to do one thing like forcing a Jedi not to duel in citiesis massively abused by actively seeking out Jedi that are TRYING to avoid visibility, then iether it needs to be changed or removed.
btw, why exactly are you afraid to die. Most spin groups will make up a non-completed templates lost xp within 30 mins.
Irrelevant. Many try to stay off of the terminals because theydon't want PvP. A case can be made that those trying to cause visibility is trying to force PvP on others non-consentually. This needs to be stopped.
When you took up the rank Padawan, you gave up the right to whine about "FORCED" PvP, by being a Jedi you acknowledge that a Bounty Hunter can attack you at anytime.
IN the FRS, it is knly the Knight level and above that was considered totallyPvP. Padawans was considered the PvE mode of Jedi, IF they were able to avoid visibility. If BH's are abusing the visibility system to force PvP on a Padawan by ACTIVELY looking for aPadawanand purposely creating visibility, then its griefing and must be stopped.

I think the BEST solution to this problem is to do what many others have stated before... Limit visibility to within NPC City limits... That way it is those who are running around Theed and C'net flashing their powers/sabers that are punished, and not those out grinding in the wilderness are doing what they should, and staying out of the public eye.but to balance it, increase the visibilty and the penalties for death, so that when you do get caught dueling in NPC city limits, it's enough to deter ya from repeating the mistake. And before we start with the whole "But that can't happen, can't give the padawans a free ride to grinding!!!!" let me just say this, I guarantee this argument is coming from those who completed their templates, and here is why...Once we complete our temp, xp loss means next to nothing as a penalty, so as a finished temp, you are free to run around in public and abuse your powers freely with little risk, while those who grind out in the wilderness, out of the public eye are being hit with all the penalties. Changing the rules as stated above will punish those who abuse their powers, and not the ones who are trying to hide.... that seems a bit fair, right?Message Edited by Dlek_Krego on 10-03-2005 02:16 PM
We have a winner!
Illrigger wrote:This weekend while working on my crafter, my guild channel picked up a disturbing new trend. Apparently some BHs out there are actively seeking groups that are grinding with Jedi in them and just hanging out within visibility range. The Jedi players have two choices, either to stop their play session, or to gain visibility that the BH who's standing there can later use to hunt them. While this obviously qualifies as griefing (purposly disrupting another player's gameplay), it also brings up a serious flaw in the visibility system. To be balanced, BHs simply should not be able to generate visibility. There's no other class in the game that can basically create their own PVP targets, nor should there be. However, the flaw doesn't stop there. Even if BHs couldn't generate visibility, they could have their friends and alts do the same thing. What really needs to be done is a cap on how much visibility a player can give another player within a 24-hour period. This will still allow BH's to do their thing, but will limit the damage they can do. Given that we don't really know fully how visibility works, this may already be in place. If it is, excellent, and the BH's are wasting their time. If it isn't, it needs to be.Comments?
if you want this to happen then jedi becomes a regular class and is made weaker - jedi was strong when there was jedi tef. there's a balance, either strong but with high risk, or regular with low risk
Fact: if you are encountering others while grouping, go to a remote planet and hunt wild spawns
no player can say,"get away from me....". there are no territorial rules in this game, outside personal structures such as houses.
this again, boils down to:
I want this, I want this now.
people with this sentiment displayed in the opening post are huge reasons as to why jedi has degressed to the point it is today. permadeath? can't take it...lets cry and get it changed...
holo unlock system? cry some more...lets get it changed
skill loss system? cry some more...get it changed...
etc etc etc. with every nerf to make jedi easier, that inturn plays into blixtev's hands of making jedi 1:1 vs other classes.

How is fixing a abuse a nerf?
Visibility was intended to keep Jedi from showing off in cities and in public.
Now, if the Jedi in questionfully intendsto follow the rules and avoid visibility cannot do sobecause a BH abuses the visibility mechanic by actively seeking him/her out and purposly CREATING visibility, it then becomes a no-win situation for the Jedi.
In what way is this a "nerf" to the Jedi if this gets fixed?

it's not abuse you moron... it's a system so BH can hunt jedi... and it is the way it was intended
calling people morons just points to your own maturity level or lack thereof...It was not intended for a BH or any other toon to purposely follow around jedi players to give them visibility...

No it is NOT being used as intended and is definately an abuse of the visibility mechanic.
Visibility was ment to keep Padawans from showing off, NOT as a means for BH's to force Jedi into thier bounty terminals.
If a Jedi was careful and doesnt show off, he is SUPPOSED to be able to avoid visibility and being on the BH terms.
If was NOT intended for BH's to follow the Jedi around and force visibility onto them.
Period.

The system intends for the BH to hunt the Jedi AFTER getting visibility...NOT before.
the visibility intends jedi to stay in hiding..... so guess what, hunting on dant is the act of a fool.
i call you a moron because that is what u are... you think that people should be jedi with no conciquence? look at how many jedi there are.... even if you are on the boards that chances of a BH getting your mission is still slim. they have no clue who they hunt now due to people crying.... maybe people should stop while they are ahead.

Ok, Tell me this....
Where is the "consiquece" you speak of for a finished temp Jedi? Once a jedi has all his skills trained, what exactly does xp loss mean?
