Thread: Surviving the Bounty Hunter: A guide to success UPDATED!

I'm thinking about saving my sure-to-be-crappylightsaber for grinding Jedi xp (once I unlock in about two weeks) and using my Knuckles of the Katarn with 650+ dps against bounty hunters. My question is whether I can use skills like force run, force suppression, aura, etc, with my Knuckles equipped. If not I guess I'd have to suffice with a macro to unequip/re-equip the knuckles between Jedi skills... but that doesn't sound too fun.

For enhancers. Remember root, snare, and especially stasis are you friends. They cant kite when they cant move. Also you can close the distance better this way.

For master enhancers. Stasis should b one of your first shots. A few reasons:

1. It ends their offensive immediately so you can view your situation and either decidefight or flight.

2. Gives you a breather so you can calm down if there is initial shock.

3. It lowers a bhs confidence level.

Can be used in conjunction with Advanced Saber throw. So you can use AST to kd them then land a Stasis on them so they cant get up. There is still a damage modifier for when an opponent is knocked down.

There is too much valuable info here to get into a flame war with you, but you know that with mcm you get no accuracy or speed mods (+30 acc +5 speed). So by picking up thyroid rupture you lose out on damage potential.

Just like I lose channel for force speed/run. I've never looked back.

But mbh/mcm are more about control over a jedi. Making it where the jedi cannot operate successfully.

Thats my point, the MCM/MBH can't kill you outright, they are only there to wear down your force or mind. They give up damage for debuffs. I love the ones that stand right next to me while fighting too. They are too arrogent to get out of my range and its been... a deadly mistake on their part.

Try this as a tip as well. If you face one of these arrogent bh's /kneel while you fight, your regen rate will increase and counter the debuff and you can still use specials while /kneeling or /prone.

I think it will be changing soon so you cannot use force powers while using anything other than a LS...

Not sure about being unarmed . . . . or if oyu activate a power ( say force speed) and then equip a weapon...not sure

/hi5 on the post good stuff.

Some usefull info on knockdown:

All jedi knockdowns have a 30sec timer on them till you can sucessfully knockdown again. So time you knockdowns, make sure yourtarget is low on action, and that your right near him or her when you knock them down, follow up with a power hit.

Well as it stands every bh template out there has their strengths n weakness's against different jedi templates.

MDefs can hold off alot of ranged abuse but most are wore down by MCM DOT's

MEnhancer can put a damper on MCM's quite easily but they get worked against ranged masters.

Great post.

As far as BH templates go, they all have their strengths and weakness's, just like any Jedi template does.

Concerning the MBH/MCM build:

This build is designed to take down the MLS/MDEF templates and their variantssimply by wearing down the Jedi. Tactics employed are often a root oustide of melee attack range, followed by Debuffs, and then kiting the Jedi. By applying the debuffs, the BH has effecively reduced your DPS to the point he can easily out heal it, and forced you into the defensive having to heal, and attempts to drain force and or action/mind.

The MBH/MP 4000 CM build is designed to wear the Jedi down as well, but in a differtent manner. Instead of debuffs, high DPS and kiting is used to again force the Jedi into healing, and using other powers to drain force action and mind.

I find the MBH/MP 4000 CM build to be a very powerful one, but I would not necessarily argue it is more powerful than the MBH/MCM template. It just employes slightly different tactics to kill the jedi.

That being said, it is again true that virtually all Anti Jedi BH templates are built around defeating MLS and MDEF templates or their varients. Which makes sense since, at least 90% of the Jedi out there employ one of these templates.

A particularly nasty Jedi template aginst these BHs is a MPowers template that employes at least 3000 enhancer and 0400 sabers. Powers are capable of bypassing the BHs armor, and his PSG. Only mitigated by his ranged defense bonuses. Lightning does get a boost from AB however, since it does elmental damage, and that does not bypass the armor. Choke however gets no bonus from AB, although it does from a KD.

The simplest way to beat these BH's is using a MPowers template. A BH really does not expect to be instantly choked the second he applies his first debuff. The ranged attacks, and DOT with choke allow you to put the BH on the defensive rather than having them dictate the fight. The BH will be able to keep up with the heals, for a short while, but you will drain him fast.

They key to winning is to put the BH on the defensive for the fight. Make him the one forced to run, make him the one forced to spam heals.

I have two BH Alts ( I do not hunt Jedi with them and never would, mainly because I think most BHs who hunt Jedi do so because they feel some inate desire to cause harm on another person for personal gratification, and I find that sad and weak.), Neither is a MCM, one is the MBH/MP template the other is virtually identical but uses rifles, and long range kiting in PVP. They are both powerful characters in their own right, but could be easily dispatched by the right Jedi template, employing the right strategy.

MBH/MRifles is all about dropping the jedi hard n fast. Especially with sniper shot. If worse comes to worse you can outlast most jedis force pool. Specially if their not wielding a preCu perfect saber or something near it.
