Thread: Life without Channel?

if u hang out with other jedi alot with transfer the you'll be good...........
Yes, but this statement is saying that channel IS necessary, but you should just use the other jedi to do it. LOL
MLS/MPW/4040 Healer
PVE, really nice to have.
PVP, not needed, even as Master Powers. The fight is always over in group pvp before I'm out of force. And if I really need a quick turnaround, an enhancer is always in the group somewhere.
I know of about 15-20 jedi who have dropped channel, thinking "I can get by without it". I even tried it.
None of us lasted more than 2 days before grinding the xp to get it back.

I lasted months without it, since I always had another jedi nearby with transfer, and I had a few holocrons, but needless to say, im getting that skill back ASAP. A must.
i use it all the time

Is it that severe? Looking to try to live without it, is it a mistake? Discuss..........................
I have never had it.
It sure does slow down my PvE but for PvP it is not needed. There is plenty of time between fights to regen (or beg for some force from friends :smileywink![]()
I think the patch notes say something about fixing regen so it may even be less needed.

I agree. End the oppression of the channel skill. You are only gimping yourself because you could pick up more useful skills.
I don't have channel (though I did when I was a baby jedi) I manage my force and do quite well. I've never run out of force during a fight.
Channel is a crutch to be honest. It lets you spam power attack without really learning how to be an effective player.
Being powerful comes with a price, a 5 minute down time here or there is more than worth it.
Say you take that 0002 enhancer and make it 2000. Now you have a root, force run 1 (amazingly useful skill no damage reduction), and force speed 1. If you can 3000 is even better, with force speed 2.
Most of you will probably laugh at me but honestly I'm just trying to make you stronger.
channel < force run/speed, root
Channel isn't really necessary, only time its useful is for PVE when you're PVE-ing hardcore (800k+ xp spin lairs...etc...)
In PVP, there are plenty of dabblers who all have Channel and Transfer Force in their template, and given all of the downtime in fights, you really don't even need channel and can just dawn on the broken robe.
Channel in itself is a replenishing skill, not really worthy during a battle because most battles are won due to the mind/health bar rather than the force bar. In channeling, you lose about 50% of your action bar (rough number) and about 14% of your mind ( I believe last time I had it) which is pretty significant in a good battle.
The only exceptions I can think of are Powers/Enhancer Users, if you're primarily saber/defender/some enhancer, then you're not too dependent on force. Don't let everyone tell you its required because it isn't (unless you have a 15 -20+ FC saber). I do fine w/out it, but if I ever do go dabbler it would be one of the first skills I'd pick up.
