Thread: No wonder the devs dont take jedi seriously!!!
Jedi are definately their own worst enemy, and I think a major reason for that (here comes the flames) is because of the diversity that is allowed within the Jedi profession. There's so much room within the Jedi skill set that people are free to pick and choose what skills they want, but then turn green with envy at the folks who chose other skills. People spend a long time working on a well-rounded template that they feel will best suit their needs, only to run into another player with a completely different template that might have an advantage over theirs.
The result? Anger.
Anger that all their work was capable of being countered by skills that they COULD have chosen, but didn't. What many fail to realise, however, is that this is how it was intended to work. It promotes balance between Jedi templates (not even going to TOUCH balance issue with non-Jedi), and provides the ability to pick up skills that counter the skills of other templates. No one template was meant to be all-powerful, yet the folks who spend countless hours grinding out an elite profession template feel that they deserve to be a bit stronger.
I think it's great that there are so many different Jedi skills to choose from, and overall, I think each tree (Defender, Healer, etc) is built well for it's intended use. Problems arise, however, when folks choose one tree and expect it to be on equal footing with another tree in every aspect. The pre-defined roles for each tree have been blurred beyond recognition by players that want it all, and can't figure out why their Lightsaber/Defender template can't heal as good as a Master Healer template. Folks need to realise... you chose your skills according to what you wanted your character's strengths to be. End of story. Don't like it? Pick some different skills. But realize that it's give-and-take. By design, you can't have ALL the best skills.
Everyone's so worried about being the best, rather than being who they want their character to be. This is a ROLE-PLAYING game... pick a role for your character and play it to the best of it's abilities. If it's not the role you like for your character, change it up. But don't try to deconstruct others that are different... because they'll likely end up doing the same back to you.

just about every thread has jedi flaming other jedi in it..if they're not calling for a nerf on other jedi or other proffesions, they're calling each other noobs who cant play their templates if they arent flaming about that they're flaming each other about something else and throwing the word exploit around every 2 minutes..my point is you all act like a bunch of immature kids, immature kids cant think for themselves and need more mature people to make their decisions for them, which is exactly what the devs have done with all the nerfs since the CU,they think they know whats best for us,which really isnt the case, but since you all cant stop being asshats to each other they're never gonna take us seriously and listen to our concerns..so please,if you dont want our proffesion to get any worse, next time you feel like calling someone a noob or an exploiter or wanna cry about something, try to articulate it better, then maybe the devs will take us a little more serious
i started a thread asking about the ages of jedi and if memory serves the average age for a jedi was 27.7 years of age..so theres absolutely no reason why you guys cant behave since the majority of you are adults!
Isn't this like calling them (us?) noobs? Wasn't that what you did not want people to do? Getting confused here...
how is saying you all act like a bunch of immature kids callingyou noobs?..dont twist my words please, and if you arent guilty of flaming people in threads and asking for our proffesion to be nerfed then the above statement doesnt apply to you![]()

Nah, you are right. Calling someone a immature kid is probably worse then calling them a noob. You are right, not the same thing. My bad.
this is an example of exactly what the OP is saying. good job in proving that point very poignantly.

Periods are your friends. Not to detract from the point of this post (because he's right, for the most part), but if you want to be taken seriously as well, some sentence structure might help.

im not calling someone a noob or an immature kid im generalising, the majority of the posters here whole heartedly agree with me,if you dont see thatthen im a loss to explain why,the forums are stuffed full of jedi being mean and rude to each other for no good reason..im sorry but to me it makes jedi as a whole look like a bunch of arrogant obnoxious little kids
I will say this. We have to realize that there is a separation between the Jedi roleplay and the real person here on the forums. So, I can't fully expect those who post here to act in any way similiar to our vision of the Jedi profession. You are going to get all types in here that will say all types of things. I'd rather spend my energy looking for something constructive said and ignoring anything that is a waste of time. I don't think we'll ever be able to pull this forum into a seroius discussion because there are just too many people who are not able to dialouge on that level.
However, I don't see how that lets the Devs of the hook for taking us seroiusly. Regardless of how they feel about our group as a whole, they should be able to realize that there are valid arguments and issues here AND that first and formemost, we pay their salaries. So regardless of how embarassing some of my mates may be, they still have a responsibility to provide me with a quality product.
That's evident in the fact that there have been 3 expansions in the year that I've been here yet they still can't seem to fix most of the problems from when I started.
The process of character examination and the ability to offer and accept constructive criticism is the hallmark of maturity. The forums are rife with examples depicting the reality of thisobservation fromboth ends of the spectrum of maturity.
I will offer this observation: As long as SWG is essentially an open ended game where the players have no constructive motivation to do anything other then satisfy their personal ambition theprocess of becoming "uber" will continue to be the hallmark of a large percentage of the player base.
The subsequent comparisons and efforts to grind the "best" template becomes the game. This is problematic in my view since the iconic "Jedi" character becomes largely populated not by those who would seek a deeper more meaningful gameplay experience based on the characterized image of the Jedi found in the movies and novels but by the more combative pvp self oriented player many of whom feel threatened by any other view of the game then their own.

i completly agree with you..it doesnt let them off the hook,im kinda looking at it from their perspective though...we must give them the worst headache you know?,we're like the ultimate nightmare customer
ive worked with the public in stores, and call centres etc,and when ive had a nightmare customer or any of my colleagues have had a nightmare customer you know what happens in those situations?..im not as nice and im not as helpful as i would be to someone whos polite and nice to me,i just wanna get them the hell outta the way so i can get on with the rest of the day..i wouldnt be surprised if the same thing applied with the devs and us
My point is that you are very close to doing the exact thing you are trying to stop.

you thus far are the only one to take it that way, everyone else seems to be able to see exactly what i mean, that being said i didnt tell anyone to stop doing it,i asked people to be more articulate when they do so,my post although a little close to bone was done in an articulate way,and i didnt have to resort to calling someone a noob a sploiter or ask for their proffesion to be nerfed

Aye, tis true. See? Even more people they've caused to hate them.
Still think this is the hidden Jedi motto:
Not every profession hates us...yet. But, we're working on it.
