Thread: Is player bounties out the door?

pvp between jedi and bh should be like the gcw, a choice to be in it....I dont have a problem with bh and actually enjoy the fights and like out smarting them. Or even if you get the choice till you get a mastery bh or jedi then you are perma huntable and bh cannot use the npc terminals. would like to see better rewards for the jedi for winning other than a few pvp points.

I don't see the jedi/bh encounters as griefing. It is a challenge inherent in the choices people make in obtaining a difficult profession. As jedi you enter the profession knowing full well what the advantages and consequences are. Most folks don't want to deal with that aspect of the game, however, having such a challenge is refreshing. Also, eventually someone loses in these encounters.

I am not a great PvP player. My template as MLS/MENH is does not stand up well against a BH tanking template. But I rely on my ability to root, snare, and put a BH in stasis to make my getaway. Now some will say I am spineless and should stand and fight. I say I win because I choose when to fight. I assess weather I can withstand the assault and eventually wear down my opponent. If not I boogie. Most BH don't like it, but I prefer to preserve my XP even as a full template jedi. If I can I will triple incapacitate any BH that comes after. Just so I can ruin their armor and exact a cost. If that is griefing, TS. We pay with XP loss if we lose, they should pay with reduced armor effectiveness.

So if you are hunting with friends, having funanda BH comes you have to run, nice way to play a game. Don't you think this is ruining your ingame experience?

SOE know the “forced” PvP concept was a bad idea that has for most part generated a lot of hate in this game. The BH/jedi issue has taken way to much focus away from the rest of the game and as a whole been nothing but bad will towards SOE and SWG.

Whatever the older jedi say about hard mode and so on is no longer valid as the power of a jedi toon has been taken away (or lets say it’s marginally better). Who can say that the path to get to a full temp jedi equal the reward, even with the now easier grind and less penalties? I myself do not.

To me it seems the “reward” is you get the choice to play a jedi IF you subscribe the 18 weeks of FS phases but hey… I might be wrong.

Well the point of this post was to ask if you think this might be the way the ship is turning?

If you don't like forced pvp then I guess your SOL when it comes to the frs, cause thats what it will be in all likelyhood. And just because a bunch of noob jedi continue to post here about removing xp loss doesn't mean its going to happen. As well, its been common knowledge for quite awhile now that having a jedi character meant you might have BH's come for you. Don't want any BH's, then don't be a jedi. How simple is that? Regardless of what some people say, jedi ARE very powerful in both pvp and pve. If they weren't then why are so many people trying to or have already become one?

I have 2 jedi, both of which have died to BH's, and I have NEVER b1tched and moaned about BH's as much as I've seen on this forum. The only time I'm likely to say anything about it is if I was killed because of a bug or exploit. So suck it up Sally.

FYI triple incap doesnt give decay anymore when cloning so youre not greifing the BH back. Could be considered "corpeshumping" maybe

some people always want to hunt other people. less predictable/more exciting than hunting a coded/bugged npc.

and of course some people just get enjoyment out of killing knowing the xp loss.

Thing is, that's about as close to griefing as you can get.

Depriving someone else of XP earnt is quite different than anything else that exists in the game. It really isn't any different than having the ability to loot someones corpse in PvP after you kill them - and this has NEVER been in the game. If I stole an item from someone by offering to slice something for them, then running away - I'd quite rightly get reprimanded. If I trained some mobs onto a group who were fighting and one or more of them got killed - again, I would get called on it.

I don't really see how depriving someone of XP is any different, plus - it's a broken system anyway really as it only delays a Jedi reaching full temp - it doesn't "kill" them as the whole permadeath system originally intended.

Though your argument may seem sound, unlocking a character's FS and moving along the path of jedi is a choice that you make. Along with that choice comes risks, stated as potential loss of xps if enough visibility is acquired and you happen to die at the hands of a BH who has pulled yoru mission. The key here is that YOU make that choice...no one else makes that choice for you. If a player does not want to have the risk, they should not continue the path to jedi, plain and simple. If this seems harsh, then so be it. No one is forcing anyone to play the game, and there are plenty other games to choose from. Enough has been done to water down the experience of playing a jedi character...removing player bounties should not even be considered.

Where do you read i dont like forced PvP and this is a complaint? I just stated what I see is a possible direction this game is taking based on the last year of changes and the fact that the BH/jedi issue give the game bad will. If you are refering to the "forced PvP" I think its is and is not, if you get my drift...

Just to tell you I was well aware what I was getting into becoming jedi. Doesnt mean I think its good for the game

This has not been the case for ages but still there are jedi that think you get armour decay from tripple incap. /shrug

In this situation, perception is reality. People think that by making their toon into a Jedi that they'll be this all-powerful godlike player, when we all the know the reality is totally different. Many, if not most, Jedi with post-CU sabers, crystals and pearls simply can't deal out damage fast enough to defeat BH/CM's, even assuming equal skills and experience. Now, a reasonably-skilled post-CU equipped Jedi will, of course, beat an unskilled BH (CM or otherwise). And vice-versa.

This is not to say I think Jedi are underpowered. But I believe I know exactly where SOE is taking Jedi: the power of Jedi below the rank of Knight has been getting reduced to that of all other combat professions, while the mythical "1.5 times as strong" Jedi will be those at Knight level and above. Which is really where it belongs. And, of course, the consequence to becoming a Knight is perma-overt status. I.e., the reward of 1.5x times the power comes with the risk of being perma-PvP-enabled.

What bothers me the most is that we were all essentially lied to in the briefings about the "Jedi Revamp" regarding PvE versus PvP Jedi. It was specifically stated that Jedi below the rank of Knight would be PvE only (i.e., no involuntary PvP), and that only Knights and above were to be PvP. I remember reading that as clearly as I remember what I had for breakfast. (But for the life of me, I can't find the articles to support that in the SOE archives.) Perhaps I misunderstood what was meant, but it seemed pretty straightforward at the time.

well soe has tried to nerf jedi out of the game, tried to grief jedi out of the game, tried to under power weapons to put jedi out of the game, and i guess the next try is to make jedi so bored with the game they will leave....hmmmm that might have been started right after cu.

I do believe this is exactly the case as it stands now...and this involves visibility. Per-CU or post-cu, you have the choice to gain visibility or not. And so there is no involuntary PvP if you choose not to gain visibility. Sure, incidents do happen, but there is enough "padding" in the visibility threshhold to cover that. This is very straightforward, as it should be.

Oh well I stand corrected. So I can't ruin some BH's armor. Still I have the skills I need to move out of the way if needed. If I get attacked while hunting with friends I assess the situation and see if I can prevail. If not I move with a purpose. Just because I am denied the opportunity to hunt does not mean my game has been ruined, just changed for the moment. Having the ability to run allows me to heal, replenish my foods and plan. For those who do not have the intelligence to think through a strategy, whose fault is that? Again the choice one makes to become jedi is a choice made with the full knowledge that one will be hunted. Too many whiners and not enough thinkers. Also jedi humping BH need to either play their jedi, play their bh, or go hump krayt.

Player bounties and XP loss are the perfect example of SOE caving into a fraction of whining nerf-babies in order to give the impression of balance. It's nothing more than sanctioned griefing to appease little kids with their daddy's credit cards.

In the mean time they have sold over 1 million copies of SWG. 750,000 of which have since cancelled.
